We went there a couple of fridays ago for lunch. Worst mistake ever. We tried to order a tuna sandwich and grilled chicken sandwich. The lady was very nice but told us that they only prep food on Sundays and ran out of everything we ordered. What?? Ew. I placed our order and the power went out 10 mins into wait. I totally am sympathetic that stuff happens but theres 6 people waiting for their food. So why couldnt they exercise good customer service and just tell everyone at once that the power is out, and offer full refunds and not make some of us wait 45 mins to find out the bad news? Year after wonderful year, the best clams, scallops and onion rings we have ever had. Other wonderfulness: fries, hot dogs, chowders, house-made iced tea. Friends have tried wraps and salads and they are good. It's the clams, though, in their delicate, thin, crunchy batter that are not available anywhere else. This review is for the food. Juicy, plump, clean, and amazingly sweet fried clams. Best I've ever had. They are sold market price. This weekend was about $12 for a small which is enough for one person if you have some sides. Earlier in the day I had whole belly fried clams at one of the stands on the boardwalk and it was far inferior and $3 more expensive for the same size. If you want to take a long walk or get it on your way in/out of the main beach area, it is definitely worth it! They take credit card. The service wasn't super but whatever. Fried clams - YES! Fried scallops, shrimp, haddock, onion rings, fries, slaw .. amazing. It is what it is. This is a fried seafood shack. If you embrace that and overlook that it's a tad pricey, you will LOVE it. You can split a plate for sure - in my opinion especially if you get a side of their home-made potato salad. I'm picky about anyone else's tater salad; this one is really good. I'm going to give a shout out to the fresh brewed iced tea as well. I really like theirs; tea flavor is just right. AMAZING!!! Best!! Hand cut fries!!! People on here complaining are funny to me. I find everything about this place awesome.. I wait all year for it to open. I find the staff awesome especially since I busted my buns in the summer heat at a seafood restaurant. It's hard work and people need to relax. Ceals is literally a shack. There is outdoor seating, and I believe they still have covered seating as well. Their food is good ol fried seafood, chicken, fries etc...greasy and delicious. The prices can be a bit high since it is seafood and all, but sometimes you just need that good greasy fun on a plate! read more

We found this on Yelp after searching for dinner after a nice day at the beach in Seabrook. The fried clams and scallops and onions rings were as good as any other place around. Its a small cozy clam shack; not the huge amount of seating and inside space like at Markey's or Woodmans, but when the weather is nice, its a great place for a meal. Lots of people getting takeout to their homes nearby. Ceals also has an ice cream place next door that looked good - we will have to try that next time. read more

I don't understand how this place only has 3 stars the food and service were wicked good. Sure prices may be a little high but the quality is great an come on it's the beach. Prices are always a little higher there. I got a small scallops and clams yes you don't get sides if you order that way but I've been to other seafood places where they pile the coleslaw and fries and only give you a kids size handful of scallops. They called me a "f**king psycho" in front of other customers. I asked for a chocolate frozen yogurt with Oreos mixed in. I took one bite and it wasn't flavorful at all. I felt bad but walked back in to ask to exchange it for chocolate ice cream instead. The high school girl working the counter rudely told me she would not give me something in exchange for free just because I didn't like the taste. I was surprised but decided it was due to inexperience with customer service and thought I could ask for a manager at the related clam stand. When I approached the window at the clam stand, I asked for a manager and and older woman decided to speak with me. I asked If I'd be able to switch my chocolate yogurt for chocolate ice cream and she also told me it wasn't her problem I didn't like the taste. She asked what was wrong with it and began disparaging me to other workers inside the stand. She told me she wanted to see the product I bought and to determine if it was bad on her own. I told her there wasn't anything bad about the yogurt, it just wasn't what I was expecting. She made me pick it out of the trash, she inspected it and then told me I had to Put it back into the trash to receive 2 dollars back ( wouldn't it have been better to just make me happy with a chocolate ice cream?) when I was walking back from the trash can, another worker(blonde) helping another customer told the customer that I was a "f**cking psycho" (out loud and very deliberately) for thinking I deserved another flavor for free. Horrible customer service. My family owns a beach house across the street and we have many guests all summer long- we won't be encouraging anyone to come here after this poor treatment. read more

I was looking seriously forward to coming to Ceal's for some superb clams from what I had seen on a National TV review! Don't recall if it was the Food Channel or the Travel channel. While some have complained about the service, etc, I found that quite good and friendly. What I did NOT find, was even GOOD quality clams. Guess I've gotten spoiled by the real deal on up the coast a ways, or my standards have become too high, but I was terribly disappointed in the clams here! Thanks but no thanks! I have been going to Ceal's since birth lol Now that I live in Miami, my visits are less frequent. I make sure I get in at least 2 visits to Ceal's every year. It is expensive, but worth every penny to me. I only get the fried shrimp, onion rings, fries, cole slaw, and sometimes a little fried haddock. All of it is amazing. I end up stuffing myself every time. I personally don't like fried clams or scallops, but my family loves the ones at Ceal's. The only other thing I've had from the menu is their chowder. That's the only thing I would skip. Stick to the fried stuff!!! They open for the 2013 season on May 5th :D I'll be there Memorial weekend and I can't wait for my shrimp!!!!! read more

I'll start by saying that the food was great. We were in line behind a few people and there was only one window open. There was a woman at the other window, but I noticed that window said that it was the phone order window or something like that. We really weren't in line long but I heard the woman at the other window say "I'm not here to make anyones day". She then said "next!" And seemed to be more then annoyed that she had to take our order. The eye rolls and the huffing and puffing made it clear that having to take someones order ruined her day. Funny because I'm assuming she is being paid to work, but what do I know. When handing her our credit card she then said she'll be back in a minute because the credit card machine is only on the other register "over there". The total restaurant can't be bigger then 1,000 sq ft, not a long walk..Again, making us feel like we were ruining her day by just trying to enjoy lunch. The slamming screen and lack of general courtesy was really just a turn off. To top it off our lobster roll was placed ON TOP of the ketchup and tartar sauce cups, so when we got the lobster roll our hands were covered in both. How nice. If I'm going to be treated like an inconvenience to an employees day I might as well not go there. Very unfortunate. read more

The fiance and i decided to go down to the beach to visit his mum a week ago and sad but true, the people who work here are constantly unhappy and just do not seem to appreciate their customers or treat them right. A simple task such as asking for extra tartar sauce is looked at as an inconvenience. Also note that it is literally a shack and unfortunately from the outside does not appear very sanitary, but also note that it is old and is a food place so you cross your fingers people are sanitary. The woman who runs the business is not even tolerable,I saw through the screen she stands over her employees constantly! She also seems to be very annoyed with each customer, like I'm sorry if this exasperates you then why the hell are you running a business?! Now for the food, if you're looking for a lobster roll with delicious crispy lettuce, tender lobster, with a good mayo to lobster ratio, and a fluffy roll to go with it THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. OH GOD what i was handed when my fiance pulled out the roll from the bag, was NOT a lobster roll, it was mayo with bits of lobster in it, and there was no lettuce (Im hoping they forgot it)! you are so better off going to Markeys, or Browns, or better yet see if the grocery store has the premade!!! We also ordered fried shrimp and it was not bad, but it was not the best quality. I work at a seafood place and I know the market price is the market price and unfortunately you can not do much about that so i expected it to be expensive. What i did not expect was me wanting to eat sand rather than the food. Overall, let me just say, on the way home we stopped at the Beach Plum in North Hampton, and what they gave me for a lobster roll, versus what Ceal's Clam Shack gave me was incredibly different. read more

I'm a huge fan of lobster rolls and high expectations of theirs. However, what I received was a toasted New England hotdog bun (standard) filled with iceberg lettuce and some lobster placed across the TOP of the bun. The numerous rolls I've had actually have lobster between the bun not just across the top. My partner had a hamburger which was, "bland except for the pickles and the smear of ketchup." In all honesty the only decent thing out of this place was the fries. Save your money and pass this place up. read more

We have been to Ceal's every single time we are in Seabrook, because the food is good, but we often encounter, especially this year, incredibly unpleasant staff. We were there a few days ago, and when we walked up to the window, the woman, who we believe to have been the owner, was there and did not say anything for at least 5 seconds (which is a long time to be standing in front of someone in silence waiting to order). When she finally decided to answer us, she snapped, and very angrily said: "Can I help you?". No "Hello", no "How are you?". Not once during this entire encounter did the employee (potentially the owner) feel the need to look up and make eye contact with us. There were maybe two other customers who arrived during the entire time we were there, as we came at about 2pm on a weekday for a late lunch. There was no reason for this woman to act the way she did toward paying customers. The only reason this is two stars instead of one is that the food is pretty good, although the prices are pretty steep for fairly small portions. read more

first of all- i want to say i used to love ceal's. i have been going there since i was a child and i always looked forward to the fries and onion rings. this review is not based off of food- but off of customer service. i have NEVER been more disappointed in service in my entire life. i was berated at the window for asking the market price of clams. the food took 45 minutes to come out- no big deal i am used to huge wait times from them. the server at the window placed my lobster roll in another bin- no big deal just have to switch it over. she proceeded to reach towards my lobster roll with her long acrylic nails. i immediately said excuse me, if you will be touching my food you need a glove. the other women at the window said "don't worry shes not touching it".... so i said listen i just watched this girl almost grab my roll with her crusty nails?? how can you tell me she didn't just do that? whatever- grabbed my food and walked to eat. then...the owners daughter had an interaction with one of my family members who pulled over into ceal's before leaving the beach. the family member was there for about 3 minutes setting up a gps and making sure everything was packed. after about 3 minutes, she proceeded to explode out of the restaurant and demand my family member leave immediately he was in her spot! they said okay but can you drop the attitude, we aren't causing harm. she then proceeded to call my family member and his girlfriend obscenities, including f****ing idiots, losers, and the most vile word, c***. i will NEVER BE GOING BACK HERE AGAIN!! read more

Thanks to yelp and the wonderful yelp reviews, I ate here. The meal was good for me, in that a fried meal that you don't finish is a better fried meal than one that you do finish. The starchy, flour-y flavor helped me deaccession the clams and rings before eating them. +1 star for helping me lose weight the easy way (vs. elephant walk and 5 corners, the hard way). +1 star for a lovely location. Also, about 12% of their menu you need to ask to get the 'market price' because they 'don't want to keep changing it' "weekly or so" (to channel another reviewing system. -1 star for being opaque because they are lazy. read more

Went there on a Sunday evening. The food was ok but the service was horrible. We stood there for one hour waiting for our order which was a small box of scallops, small onion ring and a hot dog.
