Wish I could give 0 stars. Ordered a combo plate with clam strips and popcorn chicken. Clam strips must've been baby clams left at the bottom of the frozen bag. I had maybe 5 total that were over an inch long- the rest were tiny pieces. The popcorn chicken had no flavor besides the salt they added. "Market price" for this was $38! Kids grilled cheese was literally melted cheese between the two lightest toasted pieces of bread. No butter, no golden color at all. $70 for these meals, two sodas, and top. Worst meal we've ever had on the seacoast, been a few times for a sandwich, it was okay, but never again. If you're putting fried seafood on the menu, learn how to fry it. So first, the space is great and the view is wonderful. Service was also friendly and efficient. Food, however, was just okay. You're paying for the service and the view. The calamari, despite the name, was far from Rhode Island style. That said, it was well seasoned but the bit were miniatures compared to most calamari and it was over fried. Over fried was a theme since the haddock also was dry and dark on the edges except the haddock seasoning was bland, unlike the calamari batter. the fries were seasoned fries which does make boring packaged fries better. Will never go back. Menu waas overpriced. If the food was good you wouldn't mind but it was not. Thet apparently don't know the difference between a clam strip and whole clam. When complaint was made to server he spoke to chef ndd came back and assured me they were whole clams. I held up several of the scraps that ertr on my combo plate to show him what I was given. He went back to chef again and came back saying I was right and brought full clams. They were not good. Terrible breading and overcooked along with the haddock on my plate, Only thing good were the scallops, which for the price of the plate there were not many of. The bartender was too busy to make the drinks we ordered. I settled for a beer, which arrived before water. My wife ordered a clam strip plate and I ordered a shrimp plate. They arrived before the silverware and napkins. The food was terrible, perhaps the worst I have ever been served in a restaurant. The shrimp tasted like cardboard and lacked any tenderness. The clam strips were rubbery. The breading on both lacked flavor. The cole slaw was soggy and sour. The onion rings and french fries were subpar. Definitely out of the freezer. We left most of our meals uneaten as they were borderline inedible. I complained to the server. She apologized but gave me the full bill. I asked for the manager, who comped the two meals. We appreciate that but wouldn't risk going back for the food. We'll make the drive to Ray's or Petey's, or if we don't want to drive, hit Bernie's or the Ketch. If you want beers, a pretty deck, and a good band this is the place. If you want a good meal, you're taking a risk. read more

I feel badly leaving such a poor review because our server was lovely - she would get 5 stars. That said the food was inedible. I ordered a salad and crab cakes. After eating a bit of both, I discovered three slimy and disintegrating, rotten cucumbers in my salad. I was so grossed out that I didn't feel I could eat the mediocre crab cakes (I had taken a couple bites). I sent the food back and shared the experience with the server. She cleared my food and alerted the manager. The manager came to the table, clearly angry and asked me what it was I wanted. She refused to comp the crab cakes, only removing the salad from our bill. I likely wouldn't have left this review if the situation was handled appropriately but rotten food plus poor customer service made it feel necessary. We would not go back. read more

Formerly Castaways and under new ownership, Ernie's Seaside Restaurant opened this week on NH 1A in Seabrook. This lively restaurant and bar was redone and looks very nice, a casual bright beach house atmosphere with new wood flooring, seablue painted walls, table seating, high top tables, seating at the bar and outside seating on the deck overlooking Seabrook Harbor facing west. I stopped by Ernie's Seaside Restaurant after work on a warm sunny evening. The place was quite busy with every seat at the bar occupied. I decided to be seated at a high top table near the bar which has a few flat screen TVs and 6 beers on tap & a cocktails & wine selection. The food menu offers a variety of fried & baked seafood, lobster rolls, sandwiches, burgers, chowders, salads, steaks, chicken, appetizers, kids menu and desserts. The prices here are moderate to high considering this popular tourist location. For Yelp purposes, I ordered 2 entrees including the High-Tide Roller ($23 plus tax), served with hand cut fries & dill pickle spear and the Sunken Treasure ($15 plus tax), and 2 side choices were included. The High-Tide Roller was a good lobster roll with claw & knuckle meat in a light mayo & Old Bay mix on a warm grilled buttered roll. The hand cut fries were oily, but crisp and had good flavor. The Sunken Treasure was a good portion of al dente cooked orecciette pasta smothered in a rich 8-cheese Mornay sauce and topped with herbed Panko crumbs. The 2 sides chosen were a side garden salad and rice pilaf. The garden salad had crisp iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, shredded carrots & croutons, dressing on the side. The rice pilaf was actually my favorite side dish, which was perfectly cooked rice with a medley of vegetables in a chicken based stock. The server was surprised to see I finished all of my food without asking for a box. I passed on dessert and the check was $41.23 with tax and before tip. Overall, the food I ordered was great, sticking to the reasonably priced choices on this visit. On the next visit, I would try the crab cakes, fried calamari and baked haddock. The service was hectic since the place was very busy and my food was served to me within 20 minutes after ordering. read more

Great atmosphere! Lots of space and on a beautiful day the sunset and the view is amazing, whether dining indoors or out. Biggest draw of this restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and the service overall was good. Unfortunately we waited for some time for our food and everything (except for the soups) came out at the same time. Salads and appetizers also took forever. We had 4 kids with us and their food also took a while. I can stand waiting for a little bit as long as drinks continue to keep coming, but bring out my kids foods... for chicken nuggets (which were good) and fries, it shouldn't take 30+ mins, especially with how little patrons were there when we went. This was a pretty big downfall unfortunately. The food overall wasn't terrible but definitely 3 stars worthy. The salad was saturated with dressing (I don't love that) and the steaks were lacking a bit of flavor. They were cooked appropriately though, which is good. The mashed potatoes with my filet were very starchy and the worst part of all the meals. Both soups were decent with the clam chowder having a great thick consistency. Fish tacos were also decent and the fries were delicious. Overall I'd say maybe 3.5 stars max but the wait knocks it down to 3. With all the choices out there, not sure I'd go with Ernie's again unless I the waits nearby were too long and I had no other choice. read more

I usually like to try places a couple times before I review them and after multiple visits, I'm impressed with Ernie's Seaside! I've tried a variety of food from apps to sandwiches to entrees and it was ALL delicious! Not to mention, the service was on point (I never like to have an empty beer). Not only is the food great, but THE VIEW is FANTASTIC (even from inside) especially to catch a sunset. It's always nice when there is live music to listen to as well and the fire pits are a nice touch. I'll definitely be back! read more

This restaurant should be very busy at 7PM on Friday nights. Decent guitar player/singer. We were there last night. The place is huge - lots of tables, seating, and nice bar inside. Lots of tables and seating on the outside deck with great harbor and sunset view. Menu is quite limited and pricey for what it is. $25 for 3 fish tacos that should have been $16. Clam Chowder just ok. If you're going to serve clam chowder on the NH or Maine seacoast, it needs to be great. Mussels were lousy (maybe not fresh). Wait staff and service were great. I have tried and tried and tried again because the food is good (when it finally gets to you) and it's the most beautiful setting in the world but it is genuinely the most mismanaged establishment I have ever been to. Ever. I've probably gone 5 times this summer and there is a problem EVERY SINGLE TIME. The waitstaff is young and it's not their fault but the place is never full, even on a beautiful Saturday summer night and the food still takes an absurd amount of time to arrive. I went for my birthday with 5 friends on 7/19, made a reservation, the appetizers took 45 minutes from the time we ordered them. I eventually had to track down the manager to suggest that she buy my friends a round of drinks as I was completely mortified. This wasn't an "off night." It is like this every time. I'm done. We dinned here for Mother's Day. I understand it's a busy holiday. But there was not that many people inside. Our food took extremely long for us to get it. They charged us $30 for the fried haddock when the menu said $25. They gave us the fried haddock then took it back because they said it was chicken. The waitress really wasn't friendly. The inside is nice, and they were doing nice gestures for Mother's Day. But this is the first and last time we will be going to this restaurant. We were headed to a show at Hampton Beach Casino Club (6/28) but needed dinner. The other nearby restaurant had a one hour wait. There was Ernie's right around the corner. Great views from around the dining area and I'll bet the deck is normally packed (it was pouring rain). Food was excellent and came out promptly. Waitress was young but efficient and knowledgable even though the place had only been open a couple months. I'm sure they will have growing pains but no issues for us at all, and we'll be back next time we're in the area. read more

We tried Ernie's for the first time for a late lunch today. It was a slightly cool but sunny day and we sat on the outdoor patio, which was uncrowded and just beautiful. The view of the harbor is stunning. We can't wait to go back at sunset. We both ordered the garlic mussel dish ($21) which was delicious and cooked perfectly. The mussels were plump, clean and very tasty. They came with some salted pita and an excellent garlic butter sauce. We rounded out our meals with a side Caesar salad ($6) which came with some fresh anchovies. They even have Blue Moon on tap which made my husband happy. We will definitely be back! read more

This meal was memorable for absolutely the wrong reasons. I felt bad because our server was brand new/it was her first night. Overall she did a good job, but the food was absolutely horrendous. The food took forever to come and when it finally did one of the entrees was in incorrect, the vegetables were rubbery and overcooked, and the fries were ice cold. My chicken sandwich was inedible. It essentially was overcooked chicken on a soggy bun. The $50 seafood pie portion was a joke and everything in it was overcooked. The only thing we sent back was the incorrect entree and we tried to politely share our feedback with management but I got the vibe that the manager didn't care or want to listen. I would have MAYBE given this place another try assuming it was an off day/because the location is so beautiful but that was really the nail in the coffin. BUT we had about 3 different servers who barely said a word to us. while waiting for our food, a table next to us found plastic still left on the cheese of their burger. another table near us had other issues with their order. not our problem but it wasn't great to hear this while waiting for our food. lastly, a busser boy brought our check while we were still eating. what if we wanted something else? who is getting the tip? this place seems fairly new, i would suggest more training on the staff and chef if they want customers to come back. read more

I took my Memory Care assisted living for lunch today and they were fantastic! We had a big party, 15 people and everything went so smoothly thanks to them. Everyone was super helpful, kind and patient! Our server was so sweet and on top of things- big shout out to Emmuela! The general manager and the kitchen manager both introduced themselves and made sure we were okay. Our food came out promptly, hot and delicious! The restaurant is beautiful, clean and handicap accessible. They made our visit so wonderful and we left the restaurant with a group of very happy, full residents! read more

Normally I wouldn't leave a poor review but we come on vacation here every year and this is the second year in a row we have tried to eat dinner here and although their website says they are open until 9, when we walked in both times at 8pm, staff was sitting at the bar and told us they were closed. My husband's rum runner was weak and didn't have the floater as advertised. My grilled chicken sandwich came with the wrong cheese and no mayo. It was tough and overcooked. I couldn't eat it. Went back yesterday and was disappointed Beautiful spot, nice restaurant, but the food needs improvements. The muscles had no flavor. They were served in water they were cooked in, no garlic or wine. Headed to this new restaurant because the tuna striker had over an hour wait!! What a find!! The views were excellent Drinks and food were also excellent. My friend had a Caesar salad with shrimp and said the dressing was one of the best she has had - with a good cheesy flavor. Another friend had the steak tips and said they were excellent.
