I was a little surprised when the total came back just over $80, but figured good food and an authentic lobster-shack experience would make it worthwhile. The moment they called our number and I picked up the tray, it was immediately clear that average would be a stretch goal for this meal. The onion rings were poorly breaded and undercooked. The fried clams were overbreaded and barely adequate. The lobster bisque tasted more like boiled shells than lobster, which may explain the complete absence of actual meat in the bisque. The coleslaw tasted straight out of a Sysco bag--ironically the least disappointing part of the meal. If you're a tourist just trying to check "roadside lobster shack" off the list, Brown's might scrape by. If you want real New England seafood, keep driving.

I've been going here for over 40 years and have always enjoyed my food and experience. I went there on Saturday 8/24/2024 purchased a fish and chips plate for $24.00 and a Medium Clam with belly's for $49.99. I realized that their wait time is usually a little longer than other places because their food has always been extremely fresh and delicious, although I waited for my food for over an hour and a half. Then I get home and open it up to eat and my fish plate had 2 tiny pieces of fish and less than a handful of French fries. The clams were delicious although not many for the price. Hands down the greatest seafood and onion rings! You can tell by how consistently good it is that the owners take great pride in their work. The batter is delicate, crispy, flavorful and so addicting! I can never get enough of their fried scallops, they are well worth the price! Sweet and delicious, you can't go wrong with the scallop plate or a nice scallop roll (a great value with lots of scallops if you are on a bit of a budget over a plate). The fish has a light batter also which we love and I always enjoy the fried shrimp with the tangy cocktail sauce! But then our server came back and said that the kitchen couldn't make me *anything.* They claimed they were worried about cross contamination issues. Which I completely understand, but seriously? Nothing at all? I have been served bland chicken and water poached fish at other restaurants but this is only the second time in my life that I have been told that the kitchen couldn't make me anything at all. It's hard to imagine the state of their kitchen where they are concerned about cross contamination of literally all of their ingredients. The other alternative is that they were simply unwilling to accommodate my allergies, neither of which bodes well for other people with allergies or food restrictions. (My husband would like to apologize again to our waitress for his outburst. We recognize that she was merely the messenger.)
