Fried whole belly clams were very good. One of the foods I traveled from NY to the sea coast for. Clams came out hot and tender. Perfect time to apply the salt which it needs a touch of. No sand or grit whatsoever. French fries were so so but my daughter wanted them. Clams are market price. Came to $31.88 tax included for a medium clam and small fry. This place is amazing. I am real picky about my fried clams and i have never found a place anywhere that serves clams this good. I drive from Ma. 110 miles just to get there fried clams and onion rings. The only place that was even close to ceils clams was Yokens in portsmouth but they are not there anymore blah went there as a child for decades. Its nice at ceils also to be able to bring your own cooler of drinks nice to have an ice cold beer.I have no clue how some people giving a review here can leave negative reviews they must work for a different restaurant and they are sabotaging Ceils. I am heading up there in a couple days cant wait to visit Ceil's. Oh yah and the ice cream is awesome also. read more

Was just there on Sat, 8-20-11, and it is everybit a clam shack-been to a few along the coast before- However very pricey!! Had haddock/cole slaw/ fries combo, clam combo. lobster roll and a shrimp roll and coke and had to be pay $68.00 plus. Wifey and I tried Ceal's for the first time today. This is a traditional New England fried seafood shack: fresh seafood, quickly fried to order and served in the couple/few minutes it takes to fry. All service is through a window in the building: order & pay windows, food pickup windows. Its a tradition in the area and one I love. There are a few picnic tables for customers use, six or eight are under a roof and a couple were not. They were as dirty as any I've ever seen. It was not busy today, so not so much dirty with food, as oil stained and ocean elements - it is windy today, so sand, etc. In a nutshell, the tables get one out of five, but it was not the tables we came for, it was the clams. The menu is traditional and posted by others, so that's all I'll say about it. We ordered a pint of clams and a seafood platter. The seafood platter was okay, but I would not come back for it. It consisted of chopped up scallops, probably thirds, maybe quarters, but not whole and they seemed to be less than half, they were tasty, and not overcooked, but we prefer them not so chopped up. Three out of five on the scallops, for being chopped and the portion being okay, but not great. The platter also includes shrimp, but not local. They were butterflied nicely, but like the scallops, there weren't many, I think five. The haddock was also very tasty, it was a tail piece not very big, but also exceptionally thin, thinner than I had ever seen haddock. It looked like it might have been cut on a deli slicer on 1/8 inch. Two stars due to the sliver it was, it got the two for good tasting haddock. I overheard a guy at the picnic table beside us make the same comment to his wife about the haddock. The french fries were good, "fair" style fries, as in state fair. Greasy, a bit crisp yet limp at the same time. We enjoyed them. And finally the platter had a very good portion of clams... We also ordered a pint of clams. Heck, we'd never been here and it was late for a lunch, so we splurged by getting the pint of clams and seafood platter. Alas, the fried clams were excellent. Top notch and made the visit worth while. Crisp, clean, not over cooked, a variety of sizes, all excellent. Loved them. Clams get a 4.5 out of 5. We would come back for the clams, but nothing else we had. read more

My wife and I ate here Tuesday evening 14 July 2015. Service was lousy and the attitude at front counter was terrible. We had 2 very small pieces of fish, which tasted good, and one medium fries. Total bill was $23.86!!!!!!!! What a RIPOFF. This place was recommended by a friend, who had not been there in years. Maybe they were good once, but don't waste your time now!! My wife and I went here on July 3,2017. We ordered a combo haddock and shrimp plate only. I have pictures of what we had if anyone would like to see them. we were given two very small pieces of haddock and six pieces of shrimp. Shrimp were in pieces none were the whole shrimp with a few French fries and a half cup of coleslaw. We went here only because the line at Browns was out to the street and line at Ceal,s there was no line. This cost me twenty-nine dollars and change. I was floored at the meal we received as other places we go its enough food for both of us to share. I had a couple pieces of the shrimp and left the rest for my wife to each and we went to Tripoli's pizza and I ate there. The food was a rip off and was nothing special. There were very few people there and we waited at least 30 minutes for what I say was not worth waiting for. I would not send anyone there. It is a tourist trap as I would call it. Seafood platter with onion rings came out in a brown paper bag which was placed in a light weight box (a good thing) with napkins, forks, knives, ketchup and tartar sauce. Worst service ever- couldn't even get waited on or try the food. While waiting in line for 5 minutes at the window, a lady inside that was handing out orders said "well everyone is staring at me, it's SO annoying"...needless to say we left since we heard her...next time don't talk about the customers when your window is open. I ordered the clam plate my Daughter ordered the combo with Scallops and Shrimp and we shared an order of onion ring. The Clams and onion rings were fantastic!. The scallops were over cooked and the fries were more like bits of fries. The shrimp was a little chewy. They butterfly the shrimp and cut the scallops in half so I think that might have something to do with overcooking. The tables were all dirty and the trash was overflowing while a seagull dived in to eat. It was only 12:30 but you would think with the popularity of this seafood shack they would clean up more. read more

Got old seafood that they said was freshly made. When I told them quietly and sweetly that I couldn't eat it because it tasted bad and I wanted a refund for that dish. A women in back yelled I knew when they ordered they wouldn't like it??? They refused to give me a refund and was rude. Ordered fried clams, haddock platter and seafood chowder. Clams were lightly battered, sweet and juicy as was the haddock. The chowder had hearty chunks of scallops, lobster, clams and Shrimp p. a little thin though. Will def. stop again on our next NH getaway. read more
