COUPON CRAZY Whether…read moreit's digital or paper, good deals can be found if you know where to look. Popeyes are fairly commonplace around the Chicago area. Some are horribly slow while others have a tendency to butcher orders, and yet I'll still come back because their chicken sandwich is so damn good. This location is on Harlem Ave in Summit, about 1/2 mile south of Archer. Lunch at full price is nearly $15, so I was happy to use a coupon I clipped in the mail. In this case, it trimmed my total from $13.24 down to $7.73! Basically got me a combo meal at half price. I like the mashed potatoes w/Cajun gravy, and their mac 'n' cheese is plastic but it's the kind of plastic I like. My first visit here, I used their app and redeemed a strawberry crème pie with my points. Lo and behold, they were out of pies for which the manager apologized (although my Popeyes points were lost). On a following visit, they gave me regular tenders even though I asked for spicy. Again, not a huge deal but not great either. * TL;DR * A well-placed coupon can work wonders, you just gotta be vigilant. They've been uncharacteristically friendly at this location and that alone makes me want to give them 4*, but being out of pies (visit #1) and getting my order wrong (visit #3) isn't indicative of a four-star place. Ergo, three stars for this Popeyes.

We walked back out and found the door to the restaurant. Staff is warm and friendly and we were seated quickly. Our server was Robert and he was great! He gave his recommendations for which sides would go best with our meals and I felt they were spot on. They give complimentary bread and butter. It was warm and delicious. Hubby ordered the rib tips with fries, baked beans, and had the hot and mild barbecue sauce on the side. I ordered the 1/2 dark smoked chicken dinner with mac-n-cheese, spicy Cajun green beans, and spicy honey garlic barbecue sauce. I agree with Robert, that the sauce pairs very well with the chicken. The tips were tender and falling off the bone. He didn't care for the fries and loved the baked beans, even though they were a bit too spicy for him. My chicken was also very tender and I enjoyed the smokiness. The green beans had the right amount of spice although they were not as spicy as the baked beans. The mac-n-cheese was creamy. We were too full to order dessert. Maybe next time. This is a great neighborhood staple and will definitely be back.

LOVIN', TOUCHIN', DIPPIN'…read more Wingstop knows the best countermeasure for a spicy bomb is a bucket of blue cheese dressing. Back when I used to work in Melrose Park, I'd frequent a Wingstop on North Ave. There, the quality of food was hit-and-miss, but that's not the case here on Archer Ave. The guys at this location mean business, cranking our orders way faster than the "16-21 minute" time frame assigned to the online order confirmation. My lunch has been made in 5 minutes flat. The chicken tender lunch combo ($6.50) is a solid deal: 3 juicy tenders in choice of sauce, regular size fry, and 20oz drink. Tenders were made fresh and fully coated in one of their limited-time sauces, sweet BBQ blaze. They have 70¢ boneless wings on Monday and Tuesday. Wingstop's cheese fries are amazing; they really slather on the cheese sauce which, for only 50¢ more, turns out to be a great value. You'll most likely want a tub of ranch or blue cheese ($1.50) to dip your chicken in. Cajun fried corn (5pc for $4.50) is another option. I've always believed that Wingstop's mango habanero is more tolerable than Buffalo Wild Wings' flavor of the same name. Whereas B-dubs really leans into the 'habanero' side of things, at Wingstop they're much more aligned with 'mango', so the result is more enjoyably sweet than unbearable heat, which I like. They have 12 sauces to pick from, including the OG lemon pepper, garlic parm, Hawaiian, Louisiana rub, spicy Korean BBQ, hot honey rub, classic buffalo, Cajun, and "atomic". I'd steer clear of that last one, unless you're accustomed to insanely spicy things and/or spending time feverishly moaning on the can. * TL;DR * I've come to realize that my past prejudice towards Wingstop is mostly unfounded--I've sung B-dubs' praises for so long I considered Wingstop to be the naturally inferior sibling. Well, this Wingstop in Chicago's Garfield Ridge neighborhood has me rethinking which team has the true MVT (most valuable tender). Their fries are way better than their closest competitor, with way better deals, too. By comparison, a "value bundle" of 6 boneless wings + fries at Buffalo Wild Wings is $9, and that doesn't include a drink. Defo coming back here for lunch and carryout orders.
