Today, my order took much longer than usual. I think they actually forgot my order until the waitress noticed that I was still sitting there with nothing on my table. Despite that, the food was delicious as it always is!

Falafel Plate with rice and sautéed veggies

Decent Mediterranean food near the University of Chicago campus. Located in a strip shopping center, parking was so easy on a Saturday night. Order at the counter. Started with the Hummus Sudki Style and a Sheperd's Salad to share with our party of five. Classic hummus with pine nuts, olive oil, parsley and sumac. Next time I would ask for less olive oil as it was too oily. The salad was fantastic! Romaine lettuce with a kitchen sink of my favorites!! Dates, goat cheese, pecans and roasted corn tossed with a honey Dijon vinaigrette. So delicious! Next, the classics. Shawarma and falafel. The falafel wrap is filled with falafel, tomatoes, cucumbers, mango chutney and a spicy harissa tahini served with a side of fries. The falafel plate comes with basmati rice and grilled veggies. The chicken shawarma wrap also is filled with cucumbers and tomatoes and comes with a side of fries. I opted for something different. The lamb barbacoa tacos were interesting. The nutty salsa, harissa tahini and sumac pico gave a little kick. The basmati rice was light and delicious. Service was good. Next time I would get the salad with added falafel. Nice for a quick and easy family dinner with our daughters and a new roomie.

6pc Harissa Glazed Wings & Arab Swag Tacos

I came for the wings and will be returning for their tacos. We came on a late Sunday morning. They were a little quiet with maybe one person picking up a takeout order. We placed our order a the counter and didn't have to wait long for our food to be made. We ordered their 6 piece Harissa Glazed Chicken Wingz, their Arab Swab Tacos and their Watermelon Sugar drink. The harissa wings have been on my radar for some time and I'm glad I finally got a chance to come down here. They were costed in harissa tahini, topped with a garlic sauce and served with fries. The wings were delicious. Perfectly fried and very filling with the fries. But the highlight of this lunch was their Arab Swag Tacos. The meat was covered in the same harissa tahini and a nutty chili salsa, with roasted corn. They put a lot of meat in this tacos and they were really delicious. These were served with rice. Best way to eat this is directly on top of the rice. Anything that falls off the taco you can mix it with the rice and empty the rice that way. My wife really enjoyed this place as well and we can't wait to come back.

First time at Cedars. Salmon was delicious. I would recommend is you're looking for a flavorful and light meal.

We originally checked out this spot for a comedy show, but decided to come early for the food. We got falafel, chicken wings, Arab swag tacos, & watermelon sugar. The Falafel was nice and crisp on the outside, but soft on the inside, and I loved it with the dill sauce that came with it. The flavor in the Arab swag tacos & chicken wings was PHENOMENAL! I highly recommend this spot. Entrees are $14-16 at this time. Cash & card accepted. The staff was super nice and welcoming. The parking lot was large with plenty of spots, and free. If you get a chance to check out their comedy show, do yourself a favor and go. 50% of all proceeds benefit Palestine, and the comedians were hilarious! It was a great show for the $20 price tag and went about 2 hours. This is a place I will definitely be back to when I'm in the Hyde Park area.

Randomly discovered this place while looking for a quick meal in the area and later made a point to go out of my way for a return visit. The food is delicious - I absolutely love the Falafel Plate. Service is fine, and it's a nice, casual ambiance for sitting down to enjoy your meal.

This place is one of the many whose social media is doing its job in getting asses in the door. It wasn't on my radar & tbh it sort of misleading. It's more urban or modernized than your typical Mediterranean fare. I've never come across an alleged Mediterranean place with chicken wings & pitas being substituted for flour tortilla shells. Food was ok. Doubt I'd return

First time here my parents recommended this place. The staff were friendly. The chicken shawarma wrap was good with the fries until I ate the other half... soon as I bit into the wrap it was hair in it. I lost my appetite after that.

Our food came out lightning fast, and they were so nice to let us sit there until closing. Big portions - we got falafels, the beef shawarma plate, and the shrimp shawarma plate. It was SUCH a generous portion of beef shawarma, vs you only get six pieces of shrimp. Every dish comes with salad with tahini dressing (literal tahini watered down with nothing else), the protein you choose, a skewer of veggies, and rice. Make sure you don't forget to add tahini and any other sauces!! FYI - The tahini is not salted so it's really just a more runny version of tahini. Normally I think falafels are a little dry for me, but my friend hyped these up so I had to go for it. This ended up being the MOST moist falafel I've ever had in my entire life - so crispy, so moist inside. Delicious!! Comes with a tiny dollop of humus too!

I did try other items, however. Their nihari was legit. Their butter chicken was also very good, no sweetness thank goodness. Whenever I order chicken boti, I expect like 7 overly colored pieces with no seasoning. Their botis are large, many, marinated, and enough to feed 4 people. Biryani was pretty good and generous in quantity. Note, you will find "khade masale" (pieces of cinnamon stick, cardamom, whole cloves, etc) in it. Their fries, though listed as zaatar fries, were truffle fries, and daggone delicious. Knowing that frontier chicken is pretty bell-peppery, I ordered it anyway. It was raw bell peppery and just ok. Oh, the soup that is brought to you basically tastes like Campbell's vegetable soup with black pepper, I feel it isn't necessary. I liked the spice level, bravo for not taming the entrees. My summer solcai lemonade was just lemonade. The sunset blush and golden haze mocktails were yummy. For dessert, I loved my badam kheer. The rose petal garnish and almonds made it shine. Aba Restaurant review -- Fulton Market, Chicago…read more This was my husband and I first time visiting Aba Restaurant, and we left impressed on every count. From the moment we arrived, the service stood out. We had an 8 PM reservation, but since we were in the area early, Chris B. kindly accommodated us for an earlier seating. We settled on the rooftop deck, which set the mood with a vibrant, buzzy vibe. The service was outstanding throughout. Our waiter greeted us promptly, with a trainee at the table. (My apologies for forgetting their names). Both were exceptionally pleasant. The trainee did a superb job walking us through the menu, explaining the concept of ordering. We decided on a variety of dishes, and Aba delivered: - Wild Mushroom Hummus: A smooth earthy dish with roasted mushrooms folded into a creamy hummus, finished with truffle oil and herbs. Yummy! - Tuna & Watermelon: A refreshing pairing of tender tuna balanced with juicy watermelon, cucumber, pomergrant seeds and mint. Loved it! - Green Chili Shrimp: Served in a metal dish used for escargo. The shrimp were covered by breadcrumbs and lots of butter with a slight kick to it. Great for dipping your bread in. It did not disappoint! - Pan Seared Halibut: A perfectly seared, delicate fillet, moist and flaky that highlighted the fish's clean, buttery profile. And from the cocktail menu, the Aloe? It's Me. It has a kick to it. Loved it too. Everything was excellent--the food was inventive and delicious, the service was great and the rooftop ambiance added a memorable layer to the evening. Highly recommended for a refined yet relaxed Chicago dining experience.

No dish was too heavy with oils or grease or fats which left us feeling full and satisfied without the groggy food coma. Flavors sing Mediterranean, and truly can't pick a wrong item. If I had to make a recommendation, the mushroom hummus for vegetarians is devine!! For the beef lovers out there, I've been recommended the short rib hummus countless times and I'm certain it would hit the spot. Unfortunately not the best Mediterranean food I've had in town, but definitely a can't miss place when making your restaurant hit list. The ambiance is also elegant and fit for an upscale Mediterranean meal. The indoor section is beautiful but I hear outdoor section is just as great of an experience. Again, can't go wrong on where you choose to make your reservation. The service is where the restaurant falls a bit short. They get incredibly busy and as a result it took over an hour to receive our meal. Was it worth the wait? Definitely, but wish the service could have been a bit more attentive also. Rating: 4/5
