This is my first time having roti. I'm usually not a fan of Mediterranean food but this place changed it all for me. I got the skirt steak and brussels sprouts bowl. They ran out of the steamed brussels sprouts so they substituted it for the crispy brussels sprouts. It was a great choice! I substituted the white sauce for the green sauce. It added a whole different flavor to this meal. I'm sure it would've been better the other way too. The rice was cooked perfectly. The tomatoes complimented the skirt steak very well. The steak was nice juicy tender flavorful. The falafel was delicious as well. That was my first time having it. The flavor blew my mind. It tasted like a chicken tender. The service was good, very nice lady that took care of us. This establishment was very clean on the inside. Great area to walk to to get a quick bite to eat. Mediterranean chipotle!! I got the mezze protein bowl that came with every type of protein and falafel (besides salmon). Definitely a better deal than a single protein bowl. So yummy! Very refreshing! But ask for sauce on the side so it doesn't drown out the rest of the dish. read more

Horrible. I got a veggie big bowl salad with roasted veggies, and they looked and tasted like they had been frozen and brought back to room temp or perhaps were just very old. The lettuce was sad and wilted. It's possible that they deliberately sent out old and stale ingredients since mine was a delivery -- that does not bode well, since that kind of attitude can only result in food poisoning. I usually don't leave reviews for quick serve franchises, but thought I would for the out-of-towners or potential newbies. Roti is one of my favorite spots that I frequent often. The food is fresh (most of the time) and staff is friendly. My go-to is a half spicy chicken half steak roti on cauliflower rice. As for toppings, they have a ton for you to choose from - a la Subway, chipotle etc! That being said I'm a picky eater so I only get the hummus on my plate. Now for the cherry on top, the sauces! The red and green shug are a must! I get those with a dash of garlic sauce and Tzatziki. Next time you're passing by, don't be afraid to stop in! read more

A tastier and healthier alternative to chipotle! They have a similar setup where you can build a custom bowl or order a premade one. I went with the custom option and got harissa chicken. You get unlimited sides and sauces, all of which are delicious! And their sauces were so creative, I got the spicy feta and avocado tahini. I'm not one to review chains, but then I forget that Roti isn't a national chain at all (They are from and cover Chicago, especially in the downtown areas, and I think are in NY also?). But when it comes to a fast casual pick your own healthy option, a roti wrap with chicken schwarma (chicken "roti") and all the ingredients is my goto. Especially a fan that you aren't charged extra for certain ingredients - you just pick what you want. Roti is better overall than other local chains like NafNaf or I Dream of Falafel. But do be sure to check out independent mediterranean places as well, there can be some amazing ones, especially in Albany Park neighborhood along Kedzie. read more

Hyde Park location: I ordered salmon yogurt bowl and salmon green goodness via Uber Eats. Neither meal had salmon, and one of the meals had dry chicken. When I called, the person told me that they didn't have salmon. Apparently, they were too busy to call and ask if I wanted to change or cancel my order. When I questioned them about being charged for something I did not receive, I was told to come to the store for my refund. Really? at 8pm?  Why couldn't they refund the Uber order electronically, the same way I paid for it?! I WILL NOT ORDER FROM THEM EVER AGAIN. Very disappointed. I was brought here in the spur of the moment while deciding not to wait in an extensive line at the restaurant next door... Boy am I glad I did! They have such a great concept going here! I love custom food bowls, and they dont disappoint! I dont eat meat, but it did look nice quality & well seasoned. EVERYTHING ELSE IS = JUST FRESH ! Thats how I feel about their multitude of options! Lets start with the 3 or 4 available greens. Then the meats, proteins, beans, veggies, pulses, grains, roots, pickles, sauces.... OMG. I have never had them to toss my items & mix them. I had a strange experience at Roti at Hyde Park and would suggest patrons to carefully review their order and receipt. It started with my order. I ordered a rice plate with Chicken Kabob (among 2 other items) and the server gave me some other chicken in it. When I pointed out that I had ordered the chicken kabob, she clearly didn't like it that I had pointed it out, but she went ahead and added the chicken kabob anyway. So no real issues there because the problem was promptly fixed. Anyway, so I completed my order, was asked to pay $41.42 which I did. I wasn't offered a receipt but I didn't need one anyway. When I got back to my car, I wondered how my order of three items had cost so much. So I decided to go back to ask for the receipt. When I made the request, the server who had served me immediately said that their terminal was 'acting up'. Even before I said anything to her (I had merely asked for a copy of my receipt), she said that the terminal had been randomly adding stuff to people's orders and she somehow knew that it had added 3 Spindrift Raspberry Lime drinks to my order. She said all that without even looking up my order! Then someone else from the restaurant stepped in and said that they were having issues and promptly issued me a refund and charged me the right amount. All this by me merely asking "could I have a copy of my receipt". I sincerely think that the staff behind the counter knew exactly what they were doing and that the system wasn't randomly acting up. Why didn't they offer me a reciept when I first placed the order? How did they know what was wrong with my order without even looking it up first? Anyway ... the food was fine, but my experience was quite sour. So please be aware - double check your food and ask for a receipt to ensure you were charged correctly at this store. And yes, I still have a copy of the refund receipt and the updated receipt they printed for me, in case anyone would like to check out the validity of my experience. read more

After being in Hyde Park for three years, I'm truly upset that I just discovered Roti. It is absolutely amazing!!! I love how the rice bowl has so many different textures, flavors, and lots of vegetables so you don't have to feel guilty after eating it. I get the rice bowls with everything on it, because you really can't go wrong here. I especially love the tahini and red pepper sauce. The beet hummus and roasted red pepper hummus are both delicious. However, I do prefer the chicken bowl over the steak, as the latter was a bit dry when I had it. Great portion sizes at an affordable price. I recommend ordering to go on the ubereats app and picking it up if you're not dining in-- it makes the process even smoother. read more

I love Roti! It is my FAVORITE fast casual restaurant. Think of it like a mediterranean chipotle! 1) The service is excellent. Staff is very friendly, always answers all my questions, and has even let me try samples in the past (EX. when I asked which chicken was better, they gave me a piece of each in a sample cup so that I could decide!) Obviously, you get your food right away, so the process is very quick. 2) Food is EXCELLENT and feels healthy. I absolutely love the roasted veggies, and the falafel are some of my favorites that I've ever had. The pita is also always fresh, and the hummus is good too. I don't love either of the chicken options. Salmon is good. The falafel really is my favorite protein option, though. Cannot emphasize enough how delicious it is. 3) The portions are huge. I usually eat half and save half for another day. This makes it a very cost-effective meal! 4) Students get a 15% off (I think discount) so be sure to use that! Overall, this is a great fast, healthy option, especially if you have lots of different dietary requirements! Nice minimalistic interiors with different seating options, attentive staff and high quality ingredients make this place a winner. The rundown - you start with a base (rice plate, salad, wrap) then customize it with proteins like chicken, steak, salmon or tofu and then veggies and sauces. Both times, I went with the salmon rice bowl. Topping options are unbounded. My fancy - couscous, grilled veggies, red cabbage slaw, a cucumber salad and roasted red pepper sauce. So custom, so delicious! The salmon was seasoned so very well and honestly, I was surprised. My skewer was rolled fresh off of the grill. The only down is that the sauces are like ice cold - so topping the on warm meats kind of puts out the flame. If they could put those under a warmer this would be awesome.
