So I had to go to work to Bellingham for a couple weeks. Being from out of state we tried many different restaurants while there. You know we did not find great cuisine or dining in the city. Could be due to most of the protesting and half the staff being protesters don't know. However a bright shiny spot for breakfast and even dinner was this restaurant. The staff was fantastic and the food was great. Some of the best home cooking type meals you'll find I believe in the great state of Washington. The portions were enough to fill a big biker man. I know that I could not clean my plate on the three meals I enjoyed there. The taste of everything was fantastic For dinner I had to fish and chips in their hand battered and great to eat. My dining partner saw they had meatloaf and asked if they had a meatloaf sandwich. They said they did not have the sandwich but would be happy to try and accommodate his taste. To suffice he was very excited by the meal the size of the sandwich and the taste. He's hoping they called the sandwich Steve's meatloaf sandwich. And believe that should be added to the menu as soon as possible. Now for breakfast all I can say is the sausage gravy is great, biscuits are fluffy, eggs are real eggs will you get them fried or scrambled not the bagged pasteurized garbage you find it some places like Sheris pies or Denny's. I would say that I recommended them to several people and took another larger party there on the day we left. The waitresses and serving staff are great the restaurants going through a remodel in the bar area but the patio is beautiful and has great views of Mount Baker. Should I ever find myself back in northern Washington I will definitely be eating at Cedars for at least half my meals. And talk to the servers. All great personalities with great stories. But really Steve's meatloaf sandwich was fantastic. read more

I visited Cedars restaurant for the first time the other day. The place was clean and the wait person was friendly. The food was good, but it took 55 minutes to get it to us. I'm hoping it was just because they were busy, but even at that, I doubt I'll go back. read more

We tried this place out when we first moved to Ferndale three years ago and wasn't that impressed with the food, was craving biscuits and gravy and they were open on a Sunday so decided to give them a second chance and order breakfast. We got the Lil Cedars Special. It comes with biscuits and gravy 2 eggs and bacon or sausage. Everything was delicous. I couldn't even finish mine I ate the rest for lunch. I am loving this curbside pickup thing during quarantine. They should have that option all the time. It's great for anti-social people lol. read more

The wings here are surprisingly good. You expect to go to a place that looks like Cedar's and get some rather ok burger and move on through the town. Well the wings would bring you back to town. I enjoyed them. The bar looks like a fun place to watch hawks game. The front portion of the building could use an update for sure. Had breakfast here this morning. Not busy but we waited 20 minutes for our order. Staff are lovely but the food was sub-par. Toast not toasted, over easy eggs arrived way overcooked and hash browns raw in the middle and overcooked on top. Coffee was good. Not sure we'll be back. read more

The service was good and the breakfast was tasty. Portions are ample and the place had a friendly vibe. The server was very friendly and welcoming. The only caveat would be that breakfast for two with tip was 36 dollars. just a bit more than we can afford on a regular basis. Having said that its a nice place and we will return-just not that often. read more

As advertised, a family-run restaurant with a country-diner feel. Think of a breakfast all day type, but a sexier menu than a Denny's lol. Asked Stephanie for a recommendation, the Corned Beef (home-made) Hash is deleesh, with big chunks, as per pic. Generous with the onions, even asked for a side of green scallions. Extra star for her service, went out of her way to find an outlet for my laptop, where sitting only at the counter. Rest of front section seemed to be all booths. great service, easy repeat. For the sports fan, a cool pub in the back just down the hallway. read more

So Now I can say I'm in my element to in this place. It's our local diner personified in a small quaint town like Ferndale. And the food is Wholesome Good. Hand battered fish with chips, crunchy BBQ Sauced chicken wings. Food comes out Fresh and Piping Hot! The waitress is working hard to keep up with the orders because she the only server, waitress, bus, and cashier. Yet, she finds it easy to stay calm and smiling. The place smells like a true American Diner. Their not trying to be any of those Denny's and IHOPs. Chicken Fried steak is tonight's Special and it comes with your choice of Potatoes and Corn on the Cob. They serve Breakfast All Day. The kid on the table across from me is excited to be hanging out with his Dad and I even more excited to be ordering the Hashbrown Special which comes with your choice of two meats. I over hear him say he wants his eggs over easy with bacon and sausage. It's how a diner should run. Heck, they serve with the stools at the counter. I like that about this place. The only thing I don't like is the place is carpeted. They should go with a wood floor or polished concrete which are easier to clean and don't trap spills. People who know me, know I'm a sucker for a good diner. This is one of them and I plan to stop in again soon for Breakfast. You should too. read more

Cedars is a Ferndale standby, but I hadn't been in quite some time, so it was time to stop in for lunch (usually I am just grabbing a drink in the bar with my friends!) Yuuuuum. Good, filling, Americana. My fish and chips were so good! Thick bready coating, huge hunks of fresh cod, a pile of steak fries, just perfect pub food! The service was snappy and smiley, the dining room is shabby but clean, and the breakfast plates going by looked great! The hubs ordered crispy thin fries so that I could try both, and his French dip was stacked high with roast beef. I snuck a bite, of course... I think I will order it next time! Menu states they were established in 1909, and I suspect the rough-hewn wood walls may have been installed then. Typical of mom & pop restaurants in small towns all over America, the decor is dated but clean. My companion and I were in town overnight, and wanted to fuel up for the long day ahead. This is that kind of place! Although we ordered the "Lil Cedar" platter: eggs not meat, potatoes, and biscuits w/gravy-it was enormous. Biscuit was huge and cake-like texture. I only ate about 1/2 of mine! My companion ordered his eggs "over medium " and he said they were perfect. On the other hand, my scrambled eggs were rubbery and tasteless. Gravy was good, but I personally don't care for this type of biscuit. I'd like to mention the waitress was fabulous! We were here in a Sunday morning and although no swamped, she was busy. read more

I had the best time at Cedar's for lunch today, but I probably shouldn't have. Cedar's is exactly what it claims to be. OK, small town, diner. The burgers are nothing wow, but not bad. It was the right amount of steak fries. I chose water but could have had drip coffee or Pepsi products. It's unpretentious and comfortable. What made it fun was the people watching. Being alone I was seated at the counter. I read a book on my iPad, or at least pretended to. I'm not sure how the staff get the place done because it was drama, and ignoring customers, and having to remind each other what to do. From what I could see the people in the booths would only have trouble paying their bills (several came to the counter to pay, and I had to ask several times after my credit card was sitting out). At first I thought one waitress was being trained but they all have something they needed reminding on. I found it all entertaining. read more

I've been a customer of Cedars for probably 20 years now. I first came to this restaurant with my Mom in high school, and now I take my high schoolers! Ive tried many things on the menu, but the Hasbrown Sandwich has always been my favorite. The restaurant environment, attentive staff, and great food have all remained the same over the years. I have heard great things about Cedars. But the food does not live up to the hype. The ribs are sickly sweet and the potatos flavorless. The salad was wilted and the veggies looked hours old. The only saving grace was the onion rings. But this is not $20 worth of food. I ordered this as delivery and what was listed was not descriptive enough. Cedars has the best dive diner breakfasts in Ferndale. Large portions and decent prices. The burgers aren't the best though. I know some folks love them and it truly comes down to personal taste but I just find them kind dry and not the best. All that said, I love that they are still around. We had the pleasure of having Kayla as a waitress and was a customer service pro. She was very pleasent with a great personality. She was able to service our table as well as I believe six to eight more without waiting or any type of frustration. I had two huge pancakes with strawberry and whipped cream. Great spot breakfast spot with good sized portions. We showed up here (from out of town) on a random Sunday morning in March. This place was most definitely busy with I' guessing was mostly locals (which tells you you're in the right place). Getting seated was confusing, there was no hostess (on this day) and people that arrived after us would cut ahead, but perhaps they were meeting someone. The wait was worth it however. The Country Breakfast skillet was enough for two people to share, and our busy server did her best to check in on us. Would most definitely return. read more

Seriously ? Anyone can open a bag of romaine lettuce, dump a ton of bottled Caesar salad sauce on it, throw on half a dozen croutons and 6 tasteless prawns and charge $14.99 for it ? Unimpressed. My husband has always raved about this restaurant but I am not a fan of eating out since Covid-19 so we ordered take-out. He says his burger and fries were good, if that's any consolation. My Caesar salad was NOT. Next time he wants a burger and fries, I'll have a Michelina's dinner in the microwave, and be much happier, thank you. Terrible excuse for a Caesar salad.
