The estimator, Mark, was wonderful and talked me through the work and then two techs (Chris and someone else whose name I'm forgetting) showed up promptly the day of the work and completed the job without any drywall damage (which I was actually anticipating given that they had to run a wire). Chris and the other tech were very friendly and professional and kept me updated the whole time. Compared to the two other companies I received estimates from, Milton was communicative, competitive in terms of pricing, willing to address all my questions, and high quality in their work. Helping my mother get some electrical work completed at her home. Interviewed 4 local companies. The interviewing went from one extreme to the other. One group was super shifty and we believe were on drugs, another rep visited wanted to shoot the breeze and BS about everything but the work he came out to survey. We also had a bigger name reputable company visit. Their rep was very knowledgeable and competent, but pricing was extremely high, the contract was also not itemized per service, but only provided an arbitrary flat total price for everything. Nonetheless we ended up selecting the big name company however to get the price down we chose to omit certain services and asked the rep to remove those items and send a revised contract with the new price. The rep refused to update our contract and said he would revise later after he came back to do the work. In my opinion not an honest practice to force a customer into business with you so you can arbitrarily update the number later. Should've seen that coming with their first contract. Frustrated we cancelled the big name, searched again and found Milton Electric. Was quoted an hourly rate plus parts over the phone. Their electrician Patrick arrived on time, was polite, friendly and professional. The quality of the work and approach was simpler and leaner than all the other companies and the final price far more reasonable. Could not be happier. Will be using Milton again in the future. Delano and Ryan of Milton Electric were the best technicians to work with. Delano, the veteran electrician, and Ryan, his apprentice, knew their stuff and talked us through how they would run a wire for the EV charger and how they'd do so in a way that would be clean, professional, and look good. I recently tried to use Milton Electric to repair two ceiling fans in my home. It wasn't communicated well enough to me that Milton can do home electrical repairs, but they do not repair ceiling fans themselves. So I basically paid for Milton to come to my house, tell me that my home's electricity is good and that I need to replace my ceiling fans and then leave. Its fair that Milton does not do ceiling fan repair; but what is not fair is - as my stated goal was ceiling fan repair - that they did not make it clear to me that they will not do any repair work to the ceiling fans. So I feel cheated into paying them a tip with no work being done. They should not have accepted my money if they knowingly wouldn't do the repair work that I needed. read more

I have a 1920's rowhouse in Baltimore city. Anything that breaks or stops working is always a crisis especially plumbing and electrical. And it is always next to impossible these days to find those who know what they are doing. I had an electrical problem where several lights and outlets stop working suddenly. Usually something like this in my home is a nightmare to fix. I was so stressed and concerned as I am out of a job due to the pandemic and have no money to spend on something like this right now. After reading other reviews, I called Milton Elec. and asked for Delano. He had great reviews and seem like he might be able to help. Delano called ahead, came on time, very professional, great manners, and WORKS FAST. He was NOT moseying around not knowing where to start like other electricians that I had experiences in the past with. He got to work right away, he knew what he needed to do, and communicated that to me. IN NO TIME!!!! Let me say that again. IN NO TIME!!!! Delano found the problem, fixed it and everything was back to normal. It was "magical." Once again i was so worried for several days and to see this happen was nothing short of a miracle as people say. I would highly recommend Milton Elctric and esp. DELANO. Even if you have to wait several days to get Delano to come out, i would do so. Service was great until they did the work. I was charged for items I did not receive and they were dishonest up front about what they had the capability to do with regard to my requested installation. When I inquired and asked for a partial refund (because they completed the work anyway instead of telling me they couldn't do what was originally agreed upon) it was shrugged off and I was told "it was a difficult situation." We used this company to install an 240v outlet for EV charging. We will never use them again. After the initial evaluation, they said they would contact us to schedule a time come out the next week to install the outlet. The next week went by and we heard nothing. We called to see why they didn't call us the following week and they said they were "waiting on a part" before they could schedule the appointment. The part had "just come in" that day when we called them and they said they could come the following week. The next week seemed as though it went fantastically. They came and installed the outlet, but said they needed a part to finish the installation. They told us they would be back in a few days to finish it. A week went by and we heard nothing. When we called they said they were "waiting on a part" before they could finish the outlet. The part was a circuit breaker. It had "just come in" that day again when we called and they said they would be out the next day to finish the installation. Three days later someone else came to finish the installation. This person had to rewire everything the first people did. This company lied to us multiple times. They said they would contact us for a time to come out and didn't. When we called to ask why they hadn't scheduled an appointment, they said they had received the circuit breaker they needed that day. The delays this company caused made us miss the EV charging rebate from Maryland by two weeks. I will never recommend anyone use them. read more

Took months to get them to do work after giving them a retainer. Finally called & told them they could get the piece they were "waiting" for at Lowes. Took them 2 days when they quoted one. Left pieces of wire etc. in the yard even tho I asked them to be aware due to my dogs. Ended up putting in something I never agreed upon. At the time of agreeing what would happen the top guy told me it would be less $$ - now they're saying it's actually better than the first quote. We hired Milton to handle several projects in our home. On the plus side, the estimator and electricians who came were polite and friendly, and understood the electrical issues. But there were so many negative aspects to our experience that we would never use them again. We chose Milton knowing that they would likely not be the cheapest, but we were prepared to pay a premium for a hassle-free experience. Wrong. They sent the electricians to our house on the wrong day. They didn't bring enough tarps to protect our floors and furniture. They installed the wrong dimmer switches and it took repeated nudging by us to get them back out to replace them with the right switches (which can be ordered overnight on Amazon). They filled the holes they made in the walls with the wrong product. The electricians told us they were using a quick-drying spackle. In fact, they used a soft material (Patch N Paint?) that, after two weeks, still had not dried. We had to excavate the stuff out of the holes before we could patch them properly. When we asked the electrician why he had used this unsuitable material, he just said, "that's what they give us in the office." They used paper towels to pad the area around the junction box for a new ceiling fixture. They installed the wrong size caps over two junction boxes. They left the work area very messy at the end of the day. Yes, the lights they installed work. Apart from that, this was a very negative customer experience at a high price. read more

This is the second time I have used Milton Electric. I cannot say enough good things about this company. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. Though our job was not at all urgent, we got an appointment within 24 hours. Mike and Brett arrived well within the predicted window of arrival times, and they kept in contact by telephone to let us know when they were on the way to our house. These two men were respectful, efficient and cheerful as they installed 4 new light fixtures in our finished basement. I have used Milton Electric since about 2005, unfortunately no longer. In the past have had them do power upgrades on three houses and several smaller repair jobs (easily more than $6,000 - $7,000 worth of work). Feb 25th called to make a repair appointment. Set up for Mar 1 at 8 am. An admin calls me on Friday Feb 26th at about 4:00 pm and they do not take the one credit card I use. I was told that I could go to the job Monday and wait for them to finish and then pay when they are done. Access to the jobsite was already arranged. So I was expected to burn a vacation day. They would not accept a $250 check or cash deposit for the job dropped off on Monday at 7:00 am at their office. The office manager Christine refused to have the owner to call me since it was 4:00 pm on Friday ( for a Monday appt) - because Todd Borz was on his weekend break. I was told she would leave him a message on his desk to call me back on Monday. One week later the no one has called me back. This is how they treat a 15-year repeat (now former) customer. read more

Job was to install 20 amp 220 v and a 15 amp 220 volt circuit for a new central AC on my roof. They were able to get Mark out for an estimate quickly, he was early, price was reasonable. Had no idea what to expect, but needed a light fixture and three ceiling fans replaced. First, a friend of a friend failed to show up. Then I called three local companies; in the end, only Frank at Milton Electric returned my call. Paul showed up early (ok) and went right to work. At the beginning things looked pretty grim and I was sweating bullets that the walls would have to be cut open in several sections but they were able to work the problem back, segment by segment, to get it working. This company almost gaslit me and my husband into coming into our home and starting a project with no quote or estimate. I made an appointment and had an explicit conversation about how someone was going to take a look at the work in my house before we 1) signed anything stating that we agreed to an estimate and 2) agreed on the work that needed to be done. So the day before they're supposed to show up comes, and I get a call from their call center asking me about the number of pendant lights I wanted installed. I was like well, three but I'll talk to your electrician about that tomorrow when he comes for the estimate. The call center person then LOST THEIR MIND and said I'd made an appointment for SERVICE, not an estimate, and how they had very clearly told me it was going to be 120 dollars an hour and how I'd agreed to that price for the work. I'd never signed anything, and I certainly know I never agreed to just let someone come work in my house for 120 dollars an hour without at least estimating a ballpark price for the work. How was the electrician even supposed to know what parts he needed without coming to take a look at the problem first? The call center person pulled a complete 180 on me the second I started asking questions just trying to clarify what they thought I'd agreed to with the appointment. My husband and I actually still almost decided to go through with it, and for a minute I actually thought she might be right, that I had agreed to just letting some person into my house for 120 an hour with no parts or labor estimates. I took me a few to realize what was happening, that we were just being lied to and manipulated, and I am so glad we pulled out. That's a big 'ol yikes for this company. Four thumbs down. read more
