My review is based on my own personal experience with the doctor and the surgery the doctor…read moreperformed on me in April of this year. This review is 7 months post-op. Per the doctor, my surgery is minimal and would only take approximately 20-25 minutes to complete. I had a mucus cyst on my left lower lip that I know would get bigger if I didn't get it removed since I kept biting on it when I eat. Therefore, I decided to get it remove since it is still small to avoid any chance of lip deformation. When I visited the doctor, he assured me that there will be no lip deformation, or the chances are so minimal. He had done this surgery so many times already and none of his patients had any deformation of the lip plus the size of my cyst is small. This is the very 1st surgery in my life, and I really mean it. Therefore, I asked him several times to make sure my lip would not be affected by removal of the cyst. Scarring on the inside does not matter to me. I just wanted my lips to look the same. Again, he reassured me and was confident that he could get it done with ease. We booked the surgery the very next day. I came on time, and we proceeded with the surgery. During the procedure, he had his nurse hold down my lip. Not even 5 minutes into the procedure, we had to stop because she was the only nurse that day. Therefore, she needs to go greet the guests at the front. After she came back, we continued with the procedure. Five minutes later, we stopped again because more guests were coming in. The procedure stops 4 times (1st cutting, 2nd cutting, stitching, and 2nd stitching). If you're not fully staffed, you can simply turn me away and I'll gladly reschedule. It was so frustrating the entire procedure that I'm left blooding while he tries to hold down the blood from pouring out with cotton because his nurse is in the front office. The 20 minutes procedure turns into over an hour with ton of cottons with my blood on the table. Given that his nurse had to pull on my lip even harder every time she came back, I feel like he had to make bigger cut, or he overcut. He also had to put in more stiches than I truly believe necessary. Right after surgery, I instantly feel my lip is differently messed up and I asked him again about the chances of my lip being deform. His answer is "No." Recovery was very painful, and my lip was looking so bad. Came back 2 weeks later and I told him that my lip doesn't look like it'll be getting back to how it used to look. He told me that I'm being too rash given we're still fresh off of surgery and recovery will take anywhere from 3 to 6 months. He then proceeds to say that if after 6 months my lip is not back to how it used to look. I can simply go get lip filler. WOW!! I can't believe what I just heard. Just threw lip filler in my face like it is easy for everyone to get. I don't want to be getting lip filler for the rest of my life and the cost associated with it. I gave the doctor the benefit of the doubt and waited more than 6 months to see if my lip can recover and of course it did not as you can see in the photo. There is an indentation on my lip. Not only does it look bad, but it affects the function as well. I can't drink water without it dripping out from there. I have advised by other surgeons and they all confirmed to me that it is a red flag for him to stop during the procedure plus proceeding with the procedure while having short staff.

Dr. Garza is patient and very detailed with the process from start to finish. I had a smooth and wonderful experience where I would 100% recommend to anyone with extraction needs.
