I've been going here for a couple years now for pedicures, and sometimes I'd rate them a five and sometimes a four. I think it depends on the person you get. But I know that when I go in, I'll always leave with pretty toes. I've never called to schedule an appointment in advance; that always seems to backfire at small nail shops like this because they take so many walk-ins. In my experience, I usually don't have to wait at all, and the few times I have waited have never been for long. One of the nicest features of this place is how sanitary it is. All of the manicurists wear gloves and use a new set of sanitized tools for each manicure/pedicure. The massage chairs are nice, too, although all the buttons are falling off the remotes. The manicurist is always more than happy to get it going for you, though. Usually, at least with the five-star manicurists, they'll ask you for your approval on how they're doing as they work, which is nice in case you'd like for them to do something differently. I got a mani pedi recently. Pedi was relaxing but rushed. The mani was just OK. I felt like she was tearing my cuticles, not cutting them. The cuticles on three of my nails looked pretty ragged after leaving. Ick. I got a basic deep red, so I cannot comment on their nail art. The mani-pedi was quick -- I was in and out in about 35 minutes. I assume this is typical as I was the only customer in there. It is not as though there was a line. My biggest complaint is that the nail polish didn't stay on my nails long. I got my nails done on a Friday afternoon. By Saturday evening, there were already a few minor chips. By Sunday the chips were very noticeable. (I had not been doing any particular activity that would have explained this chipping.) The next Friday I painted my own nails using much less expensive nail polish. They were chip free until Tuesday. I expect that a pro manicure should last at least as long as my at-home manicure. Sadly, Cupid Nails' manicure barely lasted a full day. The ladies were polite, and the place was clean as were the tools. Also, the massage chairs you sit in during the pedi are nice. However, I will not be going back. I can do a better job myself and save the money. I would also advise friends against going there. read more

Great place. I think since it's so tucked away, people don't notice it. I was able to get in right away for gel mani and pedi without an appointment. I wasn't in a rush and they asked if I had a time limit and I said no. I just sat back and enjoyed the massage. He took his time which I appreciate. Very nice, good price. read more

My friend and I met there after work for manis and pedis. We just walked in and they got to us right away. They did a thorough job on our pedis. We did gel polish manis and they did a fantastic job. We are definitely going back and have found our new salon. I got lost getting there because google maps directed me to a wrong location. This place is cheaper than most other places I have been to, but I don't think it was worth the money I spent. I got a French gel manicure and I could have done it better myself. Typically I give nail services a 4 star based on quality etc. I had a specific nail painting service that no other (3!) nail servicer in my area wanted to do/deal with or could not understand what I wanted. They not only did it, 2 nail technicians worked on it (one on each hand) to get it done in time to meet my hair appt. Just amazing customer service.This was for a work party. Do not go to this salon!!! The worst service possible!!!! The nail tech(male) who did my gel polish nails would not listen that base coat was covering part of the skin next to nail and argued that it's still my nail. Long story short, polis started peeling off almost right away. When I came back to fix, they didn't have any available nail technician and thus unable to fix their own mistake. If you care about folks being treated right, don't patronize this nail shop. Just left Cupid Nails enraged by what I witnessed. I am sitting there waiting and a 30 something black guy walks in and ask for a pedicure. The owners response, "we have appointments and can't get you in today!" Two minutes later a young white lady walks in and ask for a pedicure and his response, "it will be at least an hour." I am perplexed. Why didn't the black guy get "the hour" and the choice to wait?! You know I asked the guy about it and told him I didn't understand why these people got 2 different answers. Meanwhile I grab my things and leave. Not into double standards. read more

I have gotten three acrylic nail jobs done in less than a year. by three different places, and Cupid was definitely my favorite. I had wanted to get a job done that Saturday (hadn't yet heard of Cupid Nails) and everyone said they were closed, and that they weren't open on Sunday. So I looked again, and found Cupid who IS open on Sunday! I sped right on over there and walked in without a wait (I guess that doesn't always happen, but I had perfect timing, praise the Lord); next time I WILL make an appointment, just to make sure. As to the nails themselves, the nails didn't chip, they looked cute and pretty even, and they stayed on the longest! I like looking good as much as the next woman, but I am still a tomboy at heart, and I play rough, so I did eventually do something horrible to my pointer finger nail, but that was after like 3 weeks of rough activity (I'm talking hardcore volleyball people). The last two jobs I had gotten done barely lasted 2 weeks, so for this job to look good after 3 weeks was pretty awesome. The man is pretty nice as far as manicuring men go, and I think he did a fantastic job on my nails (I watch them like a hawk when my hands are involved). I would recommend (and already have in person) this place to anyone. Their prices were good as well. I got a nail removal and a wonderful acrylic job done for less than $40 on a Sunday. Overall it wasn't a very clean establishment, you could tell there was dust around the chairs and stuff just looked old. My pedicure turned out well. My nail technician was very friendly but had somewhat of a language barrier. I got a French/gel polish pedicure. I would've liked more of a foot scrub though. read more

The place was clean - although not super classy like some of the "spas" around southdale, which is fine by me. The woman that did my nails didn't speak a lot of English, but did a very good job. She also asked me many times during the manicure if I liked what she was doing. I was the only person in the shop for the first half of my manicure. At one point in time I had all three workers around me all talking in a differently language - about what I have no idea. it did take a little longer than expected - about 45-50 mins for a plain manicure. If you don't have to deal with the ass-man, you will do ok. I went in for a nail color change, that must be their least favorite, and/or a service that doesn't bring the money in. The ass-man was rude, loud. I asked advice on a color, he said he can't see well. I then asked what silver they use for a certain LOOK. I needed a pedicure badly! My SIL recommended this place to me. The building is so clean! I love knowing that they use clean utensils every time. I went here to get a quick manicure to clean up my cuticles before going to my normal salon to get my acrylics put back on... I went here on a Friday and by Sunday morning two fingers were missing all of the nail polish. I was super disappointed. My nail tech was really sweet but did not do a good job painting my nails. I also did a polish change on my toes and mind you when I go to my regular salon I can keep the polish on my toes for months, well not at this place. My toes are already chipping. Not a happy camper! Tony, the manager, said he could fit us in. The staff was very welcoming and we found out from a regular customer that Tony had called her and asked her to come in early so that they could fit us in. In over 15 years of experience going to a variety of different nail salons in the Twin Cities, never have I had such a bad experience than I have had at Cupid Nails. I went in wanting a simple black shellac manicure. The salon appeared clean and the woman helping me was very nice. I really was enjoying talking with her. As she put on the shellac, we both noticed that it was extremely light. After two coats, my nails looked grey instead of black. The owner came over to help. He made excuse after excuse, blaming the product and not the salon. He offered no charge and that I could just leave with the shellac. I insisted they take off the shellac at it looked so incredibly horrible. I'm a professional and can't have nails looking like that. The manager explained that it's a long process to get shellac off. I continued to insist. The whole ordeal took over an hour and a half. I had to change my plans to account for their terrible service. The owner filed down my nails and soaked them in acetone. He offered a manicure, but I refused. I ended up going to another salon in Uptown right after and walked away with exactly what I wanted. I will not return to Cupid Nails and will definitely not recommend to friends and family. Buyer beware. read more
