We got there early and there were only a few tables and the hostess acted like we might have to wait. Note, this is a place that charges you for a no show for a reservation. She got us seated. The waitress didn't seem too friendly but she warmed up later when I complimented her for refilling our water without being asked. She said that was her pet peeve as well. We had elk and a six oz filet. I love elk and I know it is usually close to rare but this one was more rare than I like and it had a bit too much char in the outside. This made it a challenge to cut. The portion was large. We each had a drink. The interior of the restaurant was nice. For how much it cost, I felt the cooks should have done a better job. read more

On 6/20, I ordered the 6 oz prime fillet mignon. The steak came out very rare. Tasted nice but it wasn't how I requested. I got an order of the signature meatballs, which came with garlic bread. The good: the service was great from start to finish. The ambience is lovely and our cocktails were fantastic. The problem is... at the end of the night, it's really about the food. And that wasn't great. My friends halibut was OK, but not spectacular. The filet was the best thing we had. But the Cajun boil was small and just ok (for $56, give me a couple more shrimp and something other than 2 sad, previously frozen crab claws. Lobster tail was good though) The elk medallions were dry and the sauce with them was really unappealing. For $300 with tip, there are many better options. Go for drinks! read more

I would never, as a local, go back there again. Food and service was good. All three of our dinners weren't very hot. Looking at the bill of $112 for myself, I noticed two different totals; one for cash and one for a credit card. My friend tried to pay with a check and that was denied; not considered cash. I tried to pay with a debit card and that was considered a charge card. The .03% extra is The Cost of Doing Business! If this company charges another .03% per customer, then ,perhaps, they should raise their dinner prices instead. But the dinners were extremely expensive. As a first time visitor to Traverse City, this restaurant was recommended to my family and I. We went for a late bite to eat around 9pm. The hostess was very friendly and seated us right away. Our waitress was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. We ordered some drinks that came out quickly and some appetizers that came out shortly after. I got the salmon bites which was a good portion. I didn't particularly like the sauce that was drizzle on it but overall the dish was fresh. The restaurant has a cozy ambiance that was perfect for a rainy evening. Overall it was an enjoyable experience, but I would try other restaurants in Traverse City before returning. read more

Should probably address that we didn't have reservations but bc they had a cancellation, they offered us a table at 845! We were so grateful for their kindness and service! Lots of parking on the street or in a lot across the way, but easily to access! Great lobby to wait until our table was ready... our table was much larger than our party but we made the most! Eddie with the best humor received our group and made a very positive experience, however, the food was out of this world!!!! The absolute BEST lobster bisque and filets to be served!!!! Literally melted in our mouths and yes we shared!!!! Recently ate at C&F for the birthday of a family member and found the restaurant to beautifully appointed in a somewhat modern, trendy motif. The service was spectacular. Our server was very attentive and made frequent trips to our table to make sure we didn't need anything. The restaurant is a little bit noisy, however due to the cement floors that do not have any carpeting. However, it was not obtrusive. The food was a little bit disappointing though. My wife had the lobster bisque and it was a little bland, but very thick and chunky. It did not look appetizing at all and she quit about halfway through it because of its consistency. We ordered a filet (MR) and ribeye (R+) and both agreed that steaks lacked flavor. The temperature and texture of both cuts were perfect, but we were both very disappointed with the flavor profile considering the premium prices. Trendy vibe with outdoor fireplaces, nicely appointed full bar and respectable food. This is real table service for adults. I was looking for a nice restaurant to take my wife on her birthday during our trip to Traverse city. This restaurant had good reviews and I liked the fact that it had no children's menu which I took as adult based restaurant...(without un-behaved screaming kids). We arrived early and they were able to accommodate us. Our servers was very nice and attentive. We ordered a couple of Filets and a bottle of wine. We both agreed that the steaks were just OK. Chose to do dinner here while in town on business and it did not disappoint! The ambiance was great, a nice chill vibe with dim lighting and an upscale atmosphere. Started with a Belvedere martini with blue cheese olives, it was perfect. For dinner, I started with a side Caesar salad and had the elk medallions as my entree. The food was incredible! Elk is not something you see on the menu every day, so I jumped at the chance to try it. Dining here was a fantastic experience!! My family and I chose to sit outdoors, and the patio area created the feeling of quiet seclusion. The service here was also excellent. Both the hostess and our waitress were very accommodating and polite, and we received our meals quickly. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and the calamari to start - the latter was in strips which were tender, and accompanied by two delicious sauces. I ordered the Goats and Greens salad as my entree, and it was delicious. I would strongly recommend getting this salad, as it was a unique blend of many different flavors and surprisingly filling. Had great reviews and was mentioned on many blogs so I decided to make a reservation for my solo trip to Traverse City to pick up daughter from Interlochen camp. Unfortunately, the experience was just so so. when I checked in, they weren't sure where to see me for some reason so I got a big booth, which was nice, but no one came to take my order for 15 minutes until I asked the manager who my server was. The manager just ended up taking my order and taking care of me. Unfortunately, they misordered one of the three items. The food was fine, but not what I would expect for a "foodie" joint. Hands down the best goat cheese salad I've ever had. I know that's a very big statement - but believe me, it's bigger. New York, LA, Chicago, Paris - Traverse City, Michigan. We also ordered the beef Wellington appetizer which was too peppery and the Margherita and Pepperoni pizzas, which were both good. The ambiance was nice but a little on the tacky side with the color-changing lamp at the tables, and the server who tried very hard (but was nice enough). Went here for a special occasion dinner while visiting Traverse City. Had a delicious cosmo martini and the meatball appetizer was pretty good. The issues were with main dishes. I ordered the halibut. Which came on top of risotto. The risotto came out nice and hot but unfortunately not the fish. My S.O. ordered the special which were elk medallions. He ordered them well done, I know, I know, he shouldn't but he does it because the meat always comes out medium rare he prefers medium. Well he got one of each. One medium rare, medium, and well done. I had a taste of the medium it was really tender similar to a filet minon. Actually wish I had ordered that instead. Our server forgot about us a few times, my husband didn't get his drink for over 20 mins until a manager noticed and had to make it. Our food took forver( we got pizza) and it was just okay. We frequently dine at five-star restaurants and decided to try this place while dropping our child off at a nearby arts camp. Unfortunately, the experience has been disappointing. Here are some of the issues we encountered: 1. We arrived early and were told we couldn't be seated, yet a group of four was seated before us. 2. We ordered a steak medium rare, but it arrived closer to medium. When we mentioned this to the waiter, there was no apology--just a dismissive, "So you want it less than this?" We've now been waiting over 20 minutes for a corrected order with no update. 3. Throughout the evening, both the hostess and waiter have checked on other tables, but no one has checked in with us. I'm so disappointed that I'm writing this while still at the restaurant. I've already brought these concerns to the hostess and our server, and I feel it's important to share this with others as well. When alerted, there was no attempt to make it right. $200+ for a poor experience. read more

The Tasting Room was an amazing experience for my family. Our server Abby went above and beyond for our table of 5. From being admirably patient with my autistic brother when he was ordering, to overhearing it was my parents' 23rd wedding anniversary and bringing them a fresh rose. She gave great menu and drink suggestions as well! This last minute reservation turned out to be the highlight of our night. Drinks and food were delicious and served promptly. We were in Traverse City for a long weekend and had the Tasting room DoorDash to our hotel. We ordered the Dueling feta dips, baked Brie, street corn, and barbecue pizza. The feta dips were amazing! The spicy one was the best. The street corn was fantastic- it's off the cob in a bowl and you use chips. The Brie wasn't good at all- it had no flavor. The pizza was freaking amazing! All the food was good except for the Brie. If it was THIS good dashed- I can only imagine how good it would be at the restaurant! read more

Great new restaurant. Still working some issues out that are normal with new restaurants (timing of food being brought up) but will say their cocktails are amazing and food delicious. The waitstaff are very friendly, albeit bit busy given staffing shortage, but they seem to have hired a few new people which will help! Baked Brie is definitely their best appetizer BTW if you were thinking about it! Can get a bit loud in the restaurant but the tables are not too crowded together which is nice. read more

Disappointing evening. Attended with family. Calamari appetizer was good. Waiter explained the specials but never provided a price point. One of the specials was a New York strip steak marinated in Buffalo Trace served with red skin potato's and green beans. My friend and I shared it, requesting our steak rare. Upon arrival it was medium rare and tough. We complained and they knocked $25.00 off our bill. Unknown to us the NY strip steak dinner special was $120.00. As consumers we should have asked better questions; however, the waiter should have shared the price of the specials. The chef via the manager suggested to cook it longer to make it more tender!? Amazing food! Started with the Wellington bites. They were cooked perfectly and delicious. I had the Lobster Mac and cheese. It was very well prepared. Just the right amount of Lobster and cheese. My wife has the Cajun Seafood Boil. The Lobster tail in it was huge with plenty of corn, shrimp, potatoes and crab claws. The broth was flavorful and not too spicy. For desert we split the Tiramisu cheesecake. It was delightful. Although the service was a little slower than I like. The experience was excellent. There is nothing but praise for one of our very favorite restaurants in the greater Traverse City area! The vibe is great as it seems to attract both young professionals and mature foodies. The bar is very well stocked (esp whiskey and bourbon) and offers top end mixers - for me they are one of the only that sports Antica vermouth for may favorite, a Manhattan. We are usually lucky enough to have Jim as our server - he's great, takes time to chat briefly, and I believe is also a Sommelier! For starters, you can't go wrong with the meatballs, the croquettes (my wife's favorite) or the dueling dips. As for our main courses, one of us always orders the areas very best halibut. The New York Strip and Filet Mignon are always spot on as they know how to actually deliver a medium-rare plate! If we are looking for something hand held, the wagyu burger is the bomb but I really like the Nashville hot chicken. Lastly, they take reservations but we've never have to wait long if we just drop in (no bets on Cherry Festival week). The Tasting Room is a must do when in Traverse City. read more

I decided to give this place a shot, and I'm glad I did because it did not disappoint! Our server was a rockstar--super attentive and knew the menu like the back of their hand. We kicked things off with Wellington Bites and Calamari, and I'd absolutely order them again (if my stomach would allow). For the mains, we went big with filet, lobster tail, halibut, and the Cajun Lobster Boil. Let's just say, everyone loved their dish so much that not a single bite was left behind. The food? Gone. I don't think there is a restaurant you can get into in Traverse City without reservations. We also were looking at Monday when many are closed. The tasting room could accommodate those requests. My husband got the soup which he said was delicious. I ordered the chopped Italian salad. It included a lot of lettuce! It had chopped peppers but hard to tell how many and a few tomatoes. I also ordered the chicken skewers that came with a cold noodle salad. That salad had shredded carrots that had come out of a bag...those always taste musty. I think I would have liked that with other carrots. The chicken was a little dry. It could have used more sauce or a dipping sauce. If we were there again I'd just order meat on my salad. The waitress was good about keeping the waters full. She seemed to want to hurry us out but they were not busy... It is a nice new place, and it was not noisy. read more

Not worth the experience! The service alone was awful and the food is not worth it! A friend and I were recommended this place due to the patio and menu being veg and non veg friendly. I made a reservation in advance online, and had to enter my credit card information for a cancellation policy to have this reservation as well. When we arrived, our table was not ready. 15 minutes later the table was ready but the section was pretty empty so we were confused about the wait. Especially if we were late by 15 minutes we would have to pay the cancelation fee... so it was not a great start. Next was the service. We were at our patio seating where our waiter showed up as soon as we sat down and asked for our order. As we were not ready, we asked for drinks. One person in our party ordered a dirty martini, a long wait later it was brought out with no garnishment of olives - not a big deal but odd. After we ordered our meals, it was where this review lost most stars. We each ordered a starter and a main. Her starter was brought out first. And fifteen minutes later my main and starter were brought at the same time. Fifteen minutes later her main was brought out. We essentially ate alone because of the service. At no time did our server come over to check on us or see how anything was going. Which was frustrating as well. The food also was not good and portion size is not worth the price. I got the goat cheese croquettes and goat cheese salad. The goat cheese croquettes were two small balls. The salad was inedible - consisting of tiny cheese crumbles and mostly raw large red onions. My friend got the oysters and lobster Mac and cheese. The oysters were mostly inedible as well, and the lobster Mac and cheese as noted above took so long it wasn't worth it. We were really looking forward to this dining experience during our time here in Traverse City, but left very memorable experience, in a bad way. read more
