Wow! Describing this place as amazing feels like an understatement. I've had tasting menus, but from start to finish this menu was perfection. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Its a but tight in there, but definitely worth it.

Fabulous food and service that was just as fabulous! We created our own tasting menu because we wanted one of everything on the menu (we didn't quite make it through!). Everything was exquisite, even charred asparagus taken over the top with a base of egg salad and smoked fish roe (my friend said it was literally the best thing she'd ever eaten!) Can't wait to go back!

I've never had a bad meal here. I love this place! Cook's House is just a gem in TC. The best kitchen staff and chefs, and the friendliest and most knowledgeable sommelier. We came for our birthday dinner and did the 5 course + wine pairing. They can always accommodate for vegetarians which is wonderful. They even made us an extra dessert especially for us. I always love the cozy homey vibe of the place and the sweet lofi house beats they play! Thank you, as always, Cooks House!

Such an amazing experience from start to finish - the service, the food, the cocktails and wine pairings. I truly felt like a guest of honor with the attention to detail and attentiveness the entire restaurant gave our group, but I don't doubt that every guest there felt the same way. You aren't just assigned a specific member of the team, everyone table touches and is well versed in the menu and wines. We did the 5-course option (there were also 7-course and a la carte options when we went, but definitely check back frequently as a lot of ingredients are seasonal and menus at places would be subject to change based on season!) and it was absolutely amazing. There wasn't one dish presented that I thought 'I wish I got something else'. The wine pairings for each course were amazing, and some bottles even available locally at Blue Goat (or the specific winery). We dined on the front porch which was an amazing seating arrangement. You're in a quaint but lively neighborhood but the weather was exceptional and I could have sat outside the rest of the night enjoying the company and wine selection. This is a must when you visit traverse for an exceptional and fresh, innovative experience. Reservations are necessary if you want to participate in the full experience - it is highly unlikely someone cancels their reservation for this spot!

The service is as fantastic as the food. Truly a wonderful dining experience with creative and unique dishes that taste fantastic. The starters and deserts were out of this world. My only regret is that I wasn't hungry enough for the tasting menu. You won't go wrong with anything you order. There were beautiful little touches like curated cocktails and gorgeous place settings. This place is perfect for anyone who appreciates quality food with curated touches.

The food/drinks were amazing and same goes to the service! Definitely recommend getting a 5 or 7 course meal your first time. It was a very chill vibe like you're at a family members house for dinner. We will definitely be back! Thanks for the awesome mocktails Alex!

The service was phenomenal, the food even better. The mushroom toast is something I will think about for the rest of my life. The first bite of every dish blew me away. It's a small place. The atmosphere is quaint but the attention to details really lets you know you're in for something amazing. I bought a bottle of wine and enjoyed the 5 course. I can't wait to come back.

All I have to say is 7 course & pairing AMAZING!!! One of my top 3 best dining experiences in the states, this place was pure magic. From the cozy atmosphere, to the incredible waitstaff & even better food, you cannot go wrong! Everything was cooked impeccably and the wine pairings were nothing short of perfection to accentuate the flavors of the food. Went for an anniversary dinner and everything was just wonderul! Will definitely be returning next time we're in Traverse.

6 stars! Wow - a fantastic 5-course tasting menu WITH equisitely paired wines for each course at $110! Plus delicious homemade bread, an amuse bouche and the most delicious mushroom tea broth that we will try to recreate at home somehow. The ambiance is a very non- pretentious small white house that you could easily miss if you blink (we did). The dining room is small and only seats at most 30 guests but you get exceptional service and the most amazing meal. I will be dreaming about that darn mushroom tea which I could sip all day, and the olive oil cake was the perfect ending to a memorable meal. For those of you trying to land a reservation at Alinea, save yourself the trouble and money - drive a few hours to Traverse City, get a hotel room, and have dinner at Cooks House. You'll still be ahead by at least $1K without any sacrifice in quality and you'll have a great night.

The most epic experience! We went for my dad's birthday and they went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable experience. The food is delicious and so fresh - fam to table. They accommodated my gluten free allergy, and brought all the wine tastings you could handle. I can't say enough about the kindness and perfect service they provided. If you're in traverse this is a must stop!

Do they take any walk ins?

I think they do. It is a tiny place so your chances of getting a table would be better later in the evening. They are open pretty late.

Tastebud perfection from first dish to dessert. Each dish was creative, perfectly balanced, with wonderful textural components. The asparagus was the best asparagus I've ever eaten. There were six of us in our group at a table, and you could only hear the person directly next to you. Our group had a reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant is small, and the tables are very close together and felt packed in. They do have a small roped off 'patio' area on the side walk with a couple of tables. I thought the service was fine, others in the group felt it was poor (probably because no one could hear her and we had to repeat ourselves). The server did recommend that we share several dishes as a table as they are small plates. We ordered the bread and the three vegetable appetizers to start. Here is where it is hard to review: all of the appetizers were fantastic, interesting and fresh preparations. From the light courses section, we had the bougie corn dog and the duck pasta. I'm not a fan of corn dogs, I thought it was fine, but pretentious and not worth ordering, others liked it. I did like the duck pasta. The mushroom tart was boring, dry, and forgettable (side note that if you are in Detroit, Le Supreme's is absolutely fantastic, so this can be memorable). The other stand out was the walleye main, their use of curry made it an interesting, as well as delicious, dish. We all thought the halibut was awful, it arrived with a fishy smell, but was then somehow flavorless. If we were not all splitting it, it would be a send back dish. Overall, the dishes ranged from flavorful and interesting, to terrible. No member of our group felt they would return, and I would recommend against it due to the noise level, it really was that bad. Every sound echoed off of every hard surface. As a result, it just was not an enjoyable experience.

It's an old house that has been transformed into a burger destination. The inside is cramped, especially in the order area when they're busy, and indoor seating is tough to come by at peak times. The service has never been anything short of excellent on our visits. The staff is welcoming, helpful, patient, and friendly. Service is quick, even when they're slammed. Phenomenal burgers, O-rings, tots, and sweet potato fries. The Northwood's DRAFT (not fountain) root beer is a perfect pairing with their burgers. Slabtown's menu of specialty burgers is enormous and the BYO options include different protein choices and excellent GF buns. I've tried many of their burgers, but have to say that the Slabby Patty on a pretzel bun and the Pungi's Pepper Patty really stood out as a couple of my favorites. For a really sinful (and unhealthy) treat, ask for the gravy tots. Oh brother...insanely good but definitely a guilty pleasure. We've sent tons of our friends and family here, and I can tell you that every one of them has thanked us for the recommendation and raved about their burgers. So what are you waiting for? The ambiance was first-rate: we were seated at a table with a clear view of the waterfront. Service was equal to anything one might expect from a Michelin/starred restaurant: attentive without being intrusive; able to answer most questions or obtain the answer if not known. We had a couple of glasses of wine. The server was helpful in suggesting a glass for each of us that matched our meals well. And speaking of the meals: We shared the cacio y pepe, which was a plentiful (almost too plentiful) serving of romaine lettuce, covered - a bit to excess --with a dressing. The dressing was tasty, but a bit less might have improved the dish. The co-diner got the seafood dumpling appetizer. The soup had a nice broth, and the dumpling was nicely flavored. Unfortunately, it also came with a chile, the heat of which tended to overwhelm the rest of the dish. For our mains, the co-diner got a salmon entree. He thought the salmon selected for the dish was quite a bit "fishier" in taste than the salmon we like to cook at home. The way the salmon was cooked was fine. It would have improved the dish if a better quality of salmon had been used. I ordered the rack of lamb, medium rare. It arrived, and was very rare - so much so that the inner pieces were borderline raw: not what I asked for. The lamb could also have been trimmed a bit, as the fat was clearly visible as a large part of the dish. It came with some nice mushrooms, and a green sauce made from pulverized veggies - very good. For dessert, we shared a piece of spice cake, with tart cherries and mascarpone. Our server also brought us a bonus dessert of a fluffy cheesecake with salted caramel topping, and ginger snaps on the side. Must say, the desserts were the highlight of the meal. All in all, while the front of the house reached a high level, the back of house fell a bit short of what one might expect from a restaurant of that quality.
