I felt at home with the care I received from Jimmy, CRNP, who was very knowledgeable and spoke to me like a long time friend. He diagnosed my pain quickly, explained why I was feeling the pain and prescribed a solution. He also printed information to further explain the reason for my issue, called in a prescription and gave me a copy just in case. Malcom who was the Tech who took my vitals was caring and understanding and made me feel welcome. From the receptionist to Jimmy and Malcom everyone I spoke with really listened to me, that I was important and I never felt rushed. I am grateful for the wonderful care. read more

Dobbin Road, Columbia, MD location Went in on a Sunday morning with symptoms of UTI, computers were down when I arrived so took forever to check in. Then had to wait for doctor because she was not there. Finally got the prescription I needed. But then the bill came!! Over $1000!! Multiple lab tests done that I was not told about. Disputing the bill but doubt that will make a difference. Will NOT be back if this is how they do business. read more

Centennial Medical Group--where the only thing getting treated is their bottom line. I went in with a persistent cough and what I suspected was a chest infection. I left with a negative COVID test, no treatment, no relief, and a bill north of $500 (yes, with insurance). To make matters worse, their billing process is a disaster. They initially failed to charge me the full amount, only to later send a threatening email warning that if I didn't pay the remaining balance within 14 days, they would send me to collections. Rather than a simple follow-up or clarification, they immediately resorted to intimidation tactics. Given that their entire billing department is outsourced, good luck getting anyone on the phone who can actually help. Beyond the financial exploitation, their approach to patient care is equally disappointing. Because when you come in hacking up a lung, what you really need is an upsell. They tried to rope me into making them my PCP and scheduling additional pointless intake appointments--if you weren't sick before, frequent exposure to their waiting room might just do the trick. If you're looking for compassionate, competent medical care, I strongly suggest you go elsewhere. Centennial Medical Group is more interested in maximizing profits than actually helping patients. read more

Will give zero star if I have the option. The place does not have a sink in the exam room, and the assistant is unprofessional, and took blood pressure manually in a wrong way. Also tried to sell unnecessary service that is not within her scope of practice. The worst part of the place is billing. Tried to overcharge you. It seems that the billing department is outsourced, and the scheduling department is also outsourced. This is a huge HIPPA concern to me. If you called for any billing questions, the outsourced billing dept staff answered your phones, listened, but never take any action or try to resolve it. Or they will try to use some other excuses to charge you. The place just wants to rip you off. Please be careful when you get service from there. Very disappointed with the place. read more

Had a poor experience with Dr. ALLAN CHIRCUS. Came in stating I required x-ray due to suspected broken fingers, severe pain, bruising, swelling, etc. Was away from home competing over the weekend near here. Staff had me wait in waiting room, fill out paperwork, let the minutes tick by, and wait in an exam room for the Dr to come in only to tell me there was no X-ray tech there that day. Front desk could have said that as soon as we walked in requesting X-rays as online it says they offered X-rays 7 days a wk. Dr seemed entirely unconcerned about my pain and status of fingers, suggested I come back days later for an X-ray (Monday morning for their convenience). Never examined my fingers (which had been taped up by medical staff at my competition who indicated I should go to urgent care for X-ray). It's like he was living in the 1950s with his random offensive comments to me. I am a woman, in athletic gear, who had literally walked off a regional competition floor to seek medical care. He looked at the chalk on my hands and asked if I was a TEACHER. ON A SATURDAY EVENING. I RAN out of there and we sped off to another urgent care facility and had to call ahead as we arrived 5 minutes before closing due to the massive time waste with this first practice. I got my X-rays and had broken 2 fingers. I got attended to, medicated, and splinted. THEN wks later I got a bill in the main and found out this first Dr had the gall to charge me $250 for an office visit! I called to complain and started calmly explaining that he never examined my fingers, which were taped up, covered, etc. and that I was provided absolutely no care, only bad advice. The girl was rude and extremely unprofessional on the phone and was yelling (!) that if I saw the doctor with my own eyes that costs $250. She said it's on my insurance--which it is not. It is the deceptive and predatory practices of this urgent care who were dishonest about advertising and offering X-ray services when they had no ability to do so and trapped me in a waiting room to offer zero medical attention but extract $250 from me. It's practically a scam and I'll be reviewing everywhere I can and notifying my insurance so I hope the money was worth it. Can't believe this guy took an oath! Avoid at all costs you're better off Googling your symptoms than interacting with this joke of a practice. read more

They're patient portal is the worst! I have been leaving messages for the last 10 days to follow-up on a conversation I had with my NP. I click on her name but it goes to a group of individuals. You would think someone would have responded by now. I then called and left a message and that was 2 days ago. They have also billed me for 2 visits in one week, which did not happen. Tried call and again, sent to a voicemail that says I will get a response within 5 days. Don't get me started on the visit because they booked me for 2 different times and when I went for the appointment, I was told that they are not sure why I was giving the earlier time because the doctor does not come in for another hour and a half. I like the NP I see but the set up is horrible. If you do go here, make sure to see a NP because the doctor I saw for my physical didn't even bring my chart in to go over things and did not even do everything normally done during a physical! read more

Ive had 3 appointments here and I dont think I will be returning. I've never been to a doctor's appointment where the doctor refused to touch me when I said Im experiencing pain. I came in for follow up appointments after a car accident and the NP actually googled symptoms of a concussion because she didnt know what they were. 2 weeks later I went back because I was still experiencing pain in my leg and was belittled about having fmla for my severe migraines. I also heard the dr talking to other staff members about me starting,"she just doesn't want to go to work", when I came to make sure with the swelling and bruising in my leg that I would be okay to return and to inquire about my pain. read more

This is specific to the urgent care. Came in today to be seen as I have a terrible cough. A medical assistant takes all vitals, asks a ton of questions. Then asks if I need an x-ray? I don't know that's why I came in. Then he swabs my nose and leaves. After 45 minutes, the nurse practitioner comes in and starts asking me all the same questions. When I said I had already answered these, I got the "well I'm the provider, I need you to repeat " like why did we just do this earlier then? Then she starts asking me about bronchitis and who told me i had it. One hour and 45 minutes to be told sorry you just have suffer for another 5 to 7 days, then come back if there's no improvement. This relates to our care at the new facility in Ellicott City at the corner of Rt. 40 and Bethany Lane. Two weeks ago while preparing for a holiday meal, I sliced my finger on a mandolin slicer while making scalloped (not scalpel ) potatoes. I lost a bit of tip of my index finger which was sutured with three stitches. After I got my tetanus shot and waiting the required 10 minutes, I called my wife who had accidentally sliced her thumb while trying to finish the job I started. I brought her back to the facility. The staff could not have been nicer although they clearly were amused by 'that couple'. Another set of sutures (seven this time) a tetanus shot for my wife and we were on our way. Came back in a week to get stitches out. Again a friendly greeting for 'that couple'. Throughout the whole ordeal, the staff was friendly, professional and helpful. We got follow up calls a few days after each visit to ensure all was fine and the doctor gave us clear instructions on wound care. Very happy. Embarrassed, but totally satisfied. This was the first encounter with any urgent care facility. Our GP's office recommended this location and we are thankful they did. BTW, the mandolin is in the trash. This medical practice is annoying, they call you to suggest coming in for a "follow up" appointment when none is needed. I had to ask 3 times for them to stop doing this, finally, had to write a letter. And in addition, recently was told I missed an appointment when I did not have one scheduled, they tried to charge a fee. I've never had any Doctor call me for an unnecessary appointment. Have since gone back to my previous internist of many years. He is a real pro who does not bother us. This Doctor is 30 minutes away but worth the trip. This practice is meh, one female Doctor tried to push expensive heart tests which were not needed. I do not have a heart condition. read more

I am so frustrated with their Patient Portal. I have made multiple calls about resetting my password and keep getting kicked out for too many attempts. There is no way to get past the front desk to whoever really runs the portal. This is not the kind of care I expect. I might have to move to another Primary Care provider. I am not at all dissatisfied with the clinical staff , but the administrator needs to address my concerns with the front desk and the people who answer the phones. read more

I didn't actually go to the Centennial Medical Group on-site location. I drove through their Covid testing setup at Merriweather in Columbia. Long story short, I tested negative, YAY! I woke up Monday with wicked allergies kicking my butt. Mentioned this to my overly anxious and paranoid mother (who just got over a bout of Covid herself) and she browbeat me until I said I'd go take a test. I didn't want to change out of my pajamas and that's how I ended up at Merriweather - I was only willing to do a drive-thru test and they were the closest one around. So, the only drawback of the whole thing was the wait. The whole ordeal took around an hour, but most of that time was just me sitting in my car between checkpoints (5 total). The first checkpoint I provided my name and phone number. This checkpoint also determined if I'd been tested at this site before and based on that, I was directed to a particular line. While I was in line, I got a text to check-in, and I was able to fill out my personal info and insurance info. The next checkpoint, some 20 mins later, verified I was me (guess keeping track of folks in line? IDK). Next checkpoint I was given a bag with forms, swabs, and vials inside. Then I sat some more. Finally I was directed up the hill to a tent. A young lady took the bag, took out the swabs, touched my brain through my nose 2x each nostril with the swabs, and put the swabs in the vials. She handed the forms back to me and directed me to the final checkpoint. There I gave my forms to a staff member and had a virtual visit with a doctor on a monitor they'd set up under a tent. She asked me about my symptoms, exposure, etc. then told me the things I needed to do, and asked if I had questions for her (I did not). I peeled out of there like I drove for NASCAR. That same evening I got my rapid test results. 2 days later I received my regular results. And a few days after that a staff member called me to go over all my results. My final verdict is despite the wait at the test site, the staff are all very nice, professional, and helpful, especially given how they've been risking themselves. Good job! read more

First, I struggled to enter the building because the automatic door is inoperable; I use walking sticks as I don't have full function of my legs. I needed a rapid COVID test so decided to come here. The line was crazy long!!! I waited for 3.5 hrs with 2 young children just to register to get tested. I then had to wait another 3 hours for a phone call to come back for the actual test. Then I spent another hour and 15 minute for the testing. Needless to say this was an all day event. The reason this place still get 4 stars is the staff!!! I have to especially mention the medical assistant Tara. She was the most personable, professional, kind hearted person I have met in healthcare in a very long time. She came outside in the cold (with no coat) to update everyone. My kids loved her and she was so engaging with them knowing they were waiting in the cold for hours. Tara deserves recognition for sure! Another reason I cannot give any less than 4 stars is because these gracious healthcare workers are busting their butts during this pandemic to test as many people as possible. As someone in the healthcare field myself, I know how burnt out we are. They did it with a smile on their face. Although I was there today long enough to be put on payroll, thank you to everyone for your assistance today. I may be changing my PCP! read more

This is especially true for Dr. Gibbons. I tried to make an appointment with him the other day and I was told he doesn't have any openings for 6 months.. SIX MONTHS. I then asked if he was taking new patients and they said yes. They lure you in with a Dr who has good reviews then pass you off to others who don't. Also checked in for an apt today and they make you fill out a "survey" in before you can see your dr which is basically a sales pitch asking if you're interested in their weight loss program or paying more money for faster service. I have been pretty well taken care of by Centennial Medical for quite a few years now and really have no complaints to mention - and I hope that never changes! This is a very large practice so they have lots of services in that bldg and they also have an urgent care down in Maple Lawn. I was there once, late, years ago and that was fine too. Reception where you check in is staffed by some very nice people to be certain. The pharmacy downstairs, Feldmans, is awesome! Dr Brooks is great and also an amazing person! I had an amazing time with a new physician, and finally felt I had found the right provider for me. At the end of my appointment I was sent to get blood work, which is pretty common for me. I get my blood work done a few times a year and have never had any bruise or mark from it. I had this done yesterday and already I have a huge and extremely painful bruise on my arm. The phlebotomist went to turn to get another "tube" for my blood and moved the needle a little bit in my skin. As soon as I felt that I knew something would go wrong, as I'd never felt that before. Let me start off by saying I am a CRNP. My PCP is with centennial medical group and I absolutely love her! I have also been to the urgent care center a couple of times for pretty much the same issue (ongoing since I was 18 yo) and I typically don't have an issue; they are usually very helpful and quite understanding especially now during these unsure times of the pandemic. The issue is something I would normally go to the ED for, but with COVID, I felt it were safer to go here instead. The PA I saw today, was awful. She was judgmental from the moment she stepped into my room. She had this persona as if she knew more about my issue than I do myself and that my explaining of MY symptomatology was inaccurate. She then went on to ask me "What exactly are you wanting us to do for you?" I told her exactly what I would need assistance with to help me to resolve this issue, including medications. She then went on to tell me that they were limited in the kind of prescriptions they could right there and that she would go and take a look at my chart and let me know what she could do for me thereafter. As she walked out the room, I overheard a conversation between her and the MA, in which the MA replied with "oh so this is a downgrade for you, huh?" As if she normally did not work in this type of environment, maybe just helping out during busy times, the impression I got was that maybe she worked more in the ER setting. After that, I waited, in an isolated room upstairs, alone, for another 20-25 min. She then came back and said that she discussed it over with her attending physician and he didn't feel comfortable prescribing me the meds I had typically received for the issue I presented with and that I have been there a lot of times. Well yes, my PCP is a part of this group and I see her pretty regularly. I couldn't help but think about one of the first times I went to Urgent care a couple of years ago, and I had been to the ER earlier in the week for this same exact issue, and I had received a prescription for a medication to help with the pain associated with it but as we all know, the number of pills with the prescription was very limited. It was when I ran out of my ER script that I presented to urgent care on a Saturday, as I was still experiencing a great deal of pain. The response by the Pa then was almost identical as it was today by a completely different person. Turned out a week later I needed to have emergency surgery on Xmas eve for this same issue I was questioned about in Urgent care. Because the surgery was on a holiday, I had to return to urgent care for my pre-op work up. Awkward encounter to say the least. My issue with this, again, I am a nurse practitioner myself, is that you don't speak to anyone in the manner in which the Pa spoke to me today. Symptoms are more so subjective, and just because they don't fit until your idea of what the symptoms should be, doesn't give you the right to question me about it. I am a paying consumer just as everyone else. Maybe because I am an NP, I had not any issues going there before (I would hate to believe that I had received special treatment) as this isn't the first time I have presented at urgent care during covid-19 with the same issue. Never been a problem. So why is this? Why is it today I was treated more so like a drug seeker, frankly speaking. Instead, I had to put myself at risk, and drive myself to the ER (where covid-19 is running rampant unfortunately) to be seen and treated appropriately. I will continue to see my PCP, but I will be speaking to higher ups about my experience today and surely will not be back to urgent care. read more

I will be leaving this practice after todays appointment. I've been with the practice for years and never loved it but never had any horrendous issues. Today I saw Doctor Johnson, who is new to the practice because she was the first one I could get in with. I went in because my 17year old brother passed suddenly two weeks ago and I needed something to sleep for anxiety and I also wanted to ask about genetic heart testing since my brother passed from a heart defect we weren't aware of. Instead of answering any of my questions about genetic testing, Doctor Johnson told me that I need to lose weight because I am obese and my BMI is high. For reference I am a 22 year old female and very muscular/active. I told them on the way in that I didn't want to know my weight because I have a history of disordered eating. I told her I didn't want to discuss my BMI, I was only interested in genetic testing and she had the nerve to basically keep calling me fat and obese and that my heart is working overtime. She also said since my BP is 122/80 (normal) my heart is working overtime. I told her I workout every day (running and weight lifting) and she told me that running actually ISNT good for your heart. She had zero compassion for my situation with my brother or even honoring my request to please stop talking about my weight because i was on the verge of tears. I told the front desk people about the situation and they told me they don't like her either. She is obviously also not educated or correct on most everything she told me. running isn't good for your heart? DO NOT GO TO DOCTOR JOHNSON IF YOU WANT A RESPECTFUL, COMPASSIONATE, EDUCATED provider. Love the Dr's and nurse practitioners of the practice, but getting ahold of anyone on the phone and certainly the billing department is a nightmare. All calls now go to a call center where you are told you "should" get a call back in 48 hours.... sigh.... I was billed for something that didn't occur at my physical in July and no one will assist. They just keep sending bills. Feeling like the practice has grown too big these past few years with new facilities and covid testing busses and sacrifice was customer service. read more

Took a tumble fro. Tripp iui ng on uneven pacemen in my son's neighborhood while visiting. Fell on shoulder and in intense pain. My son recommended this facility. Very convenient location 5 minutes from us. We walked right in, were checked in immediately. Very clean, professional and extremely careful w/covid 19 guidelines. Was taken to upper floor for exam. I needed xray and they did it right there at facility. Doctor came back w/results quickly. Not crowded. Felt very safe. Would definitely go back if need arises and highly recommend. read more

Had lab work done a week ago and I have yet to have my call returned from anyone. Results have been posted online so I know I need to speak with someone, but receptionist says Dr.Sarah's assistant hasn't been at work the last three days. Why tell patients you'll call them in 3-5 days when in fact it's 7+? Looking like I'll need to see another doctor just to get antibiotics/have my results reviewed. . Although we made an apt online, they had no record of the apt, so we had to be seen as an emergency apt., where the wait was supposed to be 15 minutes. however, we waited 2.5 hours before we were seen. Then, we were seen by Brittany Smith, clearly a numbers pusher. I went in for an upper respiratory issue, with a lot of coughing, yet she couldn't be bothered to use a stethoscope to listen to my lungs. she came in with an "allergies" agenda and stuck to that the entire time. she discredited my comments regarding how ill I felt, and wanted to get me to allergy testing. They did test for covid and flu, and when it came back a day later that it was covid, she prescribed (without speaking to me or asking me) PAXLOVID!!! WTH. everyone knows it gives you rebound covid, over and over again (Biden, anyone??). clearly she has no concern or care for her patients, and she's an idiot to thing we or anyone would want that drug. She was terrible and didn't listen to my concerns, and I still can't believe she couldn't be bothered to simply listen to my lungs. she's inept at her job, and wasn't nice at all in the process, just trying to push me through as an allergy case. people know when they are sick. she confused covid with allergies??? really. read more
