This used to be a bustling, professionally run place to get nail services. Now there is just the new owner. Beware she will give you an appt., but take any walk-ins, so predictably when you arrive, you will wait in a chair at least twenty minutes. I have had this happen twice (one was half an hour and I walked out because I had time constraints. Last time I just read my book. When she finally got to me, she raced thru it. Hardly any massage at all, crappy polish that has chipped off two days later, didn't do the callouses enough and when I pointed it out, gave me a sanding bar and told me to do it at home. I always have such a lovely experience here at Center Nails. They go out of their way to accommodate me being 6 foot 6. I have been to some places that treat me unkindly and throw in so many extra charges "because of my size". Not these ladies! They are so friendly and inviting. My eyelid hurts from all the pinching and poking! It feels like I'm having an infection, hurts to the touch! She never asked me how I felt or even talk to me. She was screaming to her employees when there was a phone call and just want to rush through the job to get to the next client. When another customer walked in wanting to do her lashes, she screamed to her coworker outside that she'll be done in 10mins when in fact she just started on my right eye. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm destined NOT to have acrylics. After the day I've had, this theory actually holds water. My two acrylic techs moved away, so I turned to Yelp to get referrals to other nail salons in my area. I read good things about Lilly Nails in Redmond. It didn't work out (read my review about my dismal experience there earlier today). My nails were like talons as I waited too long to get them shortened and filled, so I turned to Yelp, read good things about Center Nails, and booked an appt for 5:30pm today. I got there early, at 5pm, and I told them I was early and could wait. Still, a gal approached me and said she could see me then. Bonus! I was impressed with the little salon: it was clean and there was a decent selection of polish colors to choose from. Then things kinda went south from there.... The tech began working my nails, not saying a word to me. I realize she's focussed on the task at hand (no pun intended!), and there may be a language barrier, too. But no, she understands my chit chat just fine, but she responds tersely. if at all, using one-word responses. I told her that my co-worker and I were in the market for a nail salon, and that we go monthly, and that I pass this salon en route to work (thinking she'll realize that, hey, here's a potential good, regular customer, and my co-worker, too!). But no, she says nothing. Taking little breaks in her work, she looks at her co-workers and talks to them. She never makes eye contact with me. After 10 minutes or so, I stop trying to make small talk; it's too one-sided and her silences are awkward. After 15 minutes, I ask her flat-out what her name was, and I introduce myself again. She says her name is Nee, not looking up. Once, looking at her colleague and talking to her, Nee's electric nail buffer stays on and it scratches the back of my hand. I flinch but say nothing. Nee doesn't realize what happened. Nee works fast and her fill job is good. I asked her if she could trim my cuticles, which she does. The gals who used to do my fills would trim my cuticles free of charge (it takes but 3 minutes), but I later found out that this salon charges $6 to trim cuticles. That was a bit of a surprise when it came time to pay. I wasn't too thrilled with her nailpolish application job, too (although I didn't say anything to her about it); there's a ridge of polish at the base, by the cuticles, on most nails. It is very obvious. After my nails were done and drying in front of the little fans, after I paid (thanking Nee for her work. She never responded), Nee just stands up and takes out a wad of cash, counting her money right in front of me. Then she goes to her colleage to my left, takes off her shoes and proceeds to sit in the spa pedicure chair, chatting up a storm with her co-worker and choosing polishes for the pedicure she's about to have. The whole time I was there, I felt as though I was invisible to this gal. Honestly, it was if I wasn't there. Like I was just a pair of hands, and no person was attached to them. It was very, very unsettling and, I thought, unprofessional. I have never been treated like that at a business, as a non-entity, not looked at or talked to or responded to for an hour, when in close proximity to an employee who is working with me. It was awkward and rude. When I left, all the employees were congregated by the entrance, chatting and, I think, counting the day's monies. No one parted for me as I tried to get through their little crowd, to get to the door. They were all giggling and smiling and, again, it was if I were invisible. With this kind of customer service and "attention", I have no idea how this place stays in business. Another nail salon I will never return to. Seriously, people, can ANYONE recommend a decent salon when I'll be treated decently??? read more

It has been awhile since I have reviewed this place and I felt I needed to update it. It's probably the only business I've been a customer at for 10 years. I live at least 15 min away and there are probably 30 nail salons closer to me but I always choose to make the drive here. I will say I have strayed before for Groupons or gift certificates etc and have always regretted it. ALWAYS. If they ever make a mistake they are more than willing to fix it. If they aren't swamped I always get an extra long massage. If I don't make an appointment and drop in they always do their best to accommodate me. They have amazing designs! I always find one on Pinterest and they can always hook me up! If you need waxing done this is the place to go! The owner always has my eyebrows on point! I will never ever let anyone else touch them. I have not had their eyelash extensions yet but always jelly when I see them so I have to get it done soon. If they are as meticulous with eyelashes as they are with brows it will be on point I'm sure. i wanted to like this place the location is perfect being near my house and i usually drive 30-50 minutes for my nails, but no way. i had made an appointment at 1:30 for 3 of us, 2 pedicures, 2 fills and a full set and one of our pedicures was done right at the beginning but one had to waited over an hour. while they also had been working on clients that came in after us before we were done. their services for each of our pedicures were different one of us got hot rocks and one of us had to ask and when they gave the hot rocks after being asked she barely touched the skin and did it for a couple seconds. The guy that works here was super nice and sweet and did everything perfect on my pedicure that i asked but the woman that did my friends did everything in a rush and left a toe with a big chip in it and then walked away to work on somebody else's hand while hers were untouched by this time it's 3:20 and only a rushed pedi was done to her. then my sister got a full set and she didn't even ask her what length she just started cutting and asked if that was ok after already cutting short, and then preceded to do her acrylics lumpy and crooked and left them messy. I made sure to ask her nicely to fix them because my sister is younger and was to embarrassed and she reacted rude and was ignoring what i said and was asking my little sister for her opinion on her nails. i have been getting my nails done for years and never experienced this before i am so upset. this place is decent on price but i don't know if it's even worth it :/ read more

I've been going to Center Nails in Bridle Trails for years. They have taken care of me, my aging in-laws of both genders, my mother, who is missing a toenail, when she visits, my son with his fungus and my trans daughter, as well as all my girlfriends when I feel like company. Nu does an amazing job on my usual "French Dip" and I have always had good pedicure experiences, regardless of who has done them. Love the massage chairs, leg massage (Cathy is amazing)and hot rocks. Alfred is so attentive to detail. When I was going to Japan a few years ago on holiday, Nu painted a Hello Kitty on my nails for fun. Her nail designs are amazing. I've had Husky paws in football season, hibiscus blossoms for Hawaiian vacations and other fun designs. My life is always busy, and Center Nails is accommodating about late requests for services. They sometimes have to shift people around to get everyone, including the walk ins covered, but they do, and no one gets ignored or left out. I've seen some of the complaints in other reviews, but why are you at the spa? For instant relaxation? I've done waxing and permanent eyebrows there, and I can't say I've ever been disappointed. Been here twice and I actually like it. Do know that you should bring cash for they offer a better cash rate over the credit/debit rates. First time I came was during my lunch and they fit me in right away! It is cool that they actually have more than 3 people available. Based on other Yelp reviews I first tried this place 2 years ago. I get acrylics done off and on, and this has been the most consistent salon I have been too. The pricing is also really reasonable. The last time I got a full set on was 3 weeks ago and they are still going strong and looking... pretty decent for not having a fill yet! Also, on another occasion when I went to get a fill I was in a rush and tried to leave before my nails had dried properly and totally messed up the nail polish. The owner stopped what she was doing, came over and fixed it as quickly as she could. So, I apologize to the person she was working on! They have also removed my acrylics before and it was a really painless process (the first time it has ever been painless)- although a bit time consuming. It does get crowded on the weekends (because of the plethora of regulars), so I'd call ahead for an appointment. read more

I made an appointment for two for a spa pedicure here and was able to be seen the same day. We were even running 10 minutes late, but they greeted us with open arms and promptly started on our pedicures. First impressions: The nail salon is located in the strip mall near Tech City Bowl. It's not hard to find and parking is a breeze. Walking in, the place is very clean and spacious. They have a great selection of nail polish for you to choose from. The nail techs were very very friendly. They didn't say much and appeared very focused in their work, which I didn't mind because I don't chit chat much anyway. I used to love this place. But this last year they've really gone down hill. There is ONE person who is good. Everyone else acts like they would rather chat or do anything but give pedicures and manicures. The last time I got a manicure the lady was on her phone the entire time. On top of that, the quality isn't very good. They alternate between being a little rough to not doing enough. I'm not sure how the pictures showed designs. I've been going here for 4 years and even when they were good, they would act like I was crazy when I asked for a design on my nails. I stopped asking. They do charge less if you pay cash. Center Nails is often busy so I make my appointments the same day or a few days before. I get my eye lash extensions here and feel that they are well done and at a good price. I've had extensions done at other places and often have had issues with the glue. No such problem here and Nu is great, fast, and doesn't mind my snoring during the application of my lash extensions. :) I've been getting acrylic nails with color and pink and whites for a good twelve years. My old nail salon moved to a less convenient area and so I tried this local nail salon and have not been disappointed. Nu does a great job on my pink and whites. Alvin recently took care of my 15 year old daughter who had broke her nail down about 1/2 way down her nail bed and didn't want anyone to touch it. Alvin gained her trust and took care of her broken nail and fixed her nails so that she was protected and no longer in pain. And her nails looked great afterward to boot! I have been going here for years with my 2 daughters and have always had a pleasant experience and a decent job. Today, however, I had the worst experience in any nail salon. There was a younger female doing my manicure who must be new. She was rude and did a terrible job. While doing my manicure she slapped my hands around, left jagged nail edges, hardly put any color on and was watching something on her phone the entire time. She didn't bother to use any lotion and was wiping my nail fragments on the pillow which they use for all clients. Oh and her mask was down for part of the time. The worst part was that the owner appeared to be ok with this and they laughed together as they watched whatever was playing on the phone. I have supported this business all during Covid and even increased my frequency. I am polite and a very generous tipper. This will be my last visit to this salon. read more

I'm not sure how I was charged $53 for a spa pedi, a shellac mani and a joke of a lotion application; when the gal next to me who received an Acrylic mani, a spa pedi AND received a 35 min massage!! was charged $21~~ The sign for pricing says $30 for spa pedi... and $28 for shellac nails... Excellent service. Clean. Affordable. Got a mani and pedi for $33!! They were great at working my cuticles and cleaning my nails to look BEAUTIFUL. The mini hand and foot massages weren't amazing, but my nails look perfect, which is why I went there in the first place. The interior was very aesthetically pleasing, which was a nice surprise bc it was in a tiny strip mall in kirkland. This made the experience even more relaxing-they had the typical massage chairs-and they were in good working order. The nail women were SO nice and very meticulous. While she was doing my nails she was watching a show on her phone and paid no attention. I've been to Center Nails a few times and it's pretty ok for the price you pay. I've gotten pedicures and manicures (just regular nail polish) each time and the service was great. I was a few minutes late one time, but it was no problem and was taken care of right away. I've never had a problem making an appointment even with a next-day appointment. The ladies are pretty quiet, which I appreciate as I like to relax and not have to worry about small talk. The pedicures are good and I would recommend getting your pedicures done here. The ladies are attentive and the polish doesn't chip easily. The manicures are ok -- tend to chip after a couple weeks. I picked a dark colored polish the last time I was at Center Nails and the polish started chipping within a week. It was really noticeable and unfortunate that it happened so soon after the manicure. :( read more

Checked this one off my list and I won't be back. We just happened upon this spot because we had to be in Kirkland and Yelped a nail salon. This place came up with substantial reviews, so we figured it'd be awesome. I came out with a good set of toes, but I wasn't impressed with anything else really. 1. My massage chair didn't work 2. The ladies chatted with each other more then other places I've been. I get it that their English isn't the strongest, but it's worth a try for customer service. I just felt really uncomfortable. I guess me understanding Vietnamese didn't help my comfort levels either. I don't speak it very well, but I can understand it pretty freaking well. I would understand some normal gossiping or whatever, but they said some pretty offensive things about my friend and I that I will not air to the public. It was uncalled for in a professional setting. Sometimes I wish I could just turn off my understanding of the language. 3. We called beforehand to make sure they take cards because you never know with mom n' pop shops. They said they did so we were golden. Yeah right! We got to the register and the lady pointed to my wallet and said "cash". I said... I have a card. She again said "cash". I asked her how much it was, because I only had a $20 bill on me; hence the asking if they take plastic. It was $23, I said card. She finally took my card and swiped it. Then when I was going to sign the slip and tip, she put her finger over the tip line and said "give me cash". WTF, I'm old enough to CHOOSE what I want to pay with. At this point I was just frustrated beyond belief and my friend had yet to pay. She only had plastic as well and the lady gave her a hard time too. I asked for change for the $20 since she wanted cash and she gave me 4 $5's. I don't think she deserved a $5 tip at all, but I was so sick of her face I just wanted to leave. $28 for pretty nails, decent pedicure and some trash talking. Score. I now come here about twice a month for pedicures, and occasionally get manicures too (I'm a violinist and have to keep my nails short, so the only reason I don't get manicures more often is because there's no point). Services I've had: - Pedicure - Manicure - Manicure + shellac Pros: - It's sanitary: The techs wear gloves and the salon in general is very clean - They're thorough: I've never had to ask them to re-do my polish or go back and fix something. They always check their work themselves - They listen: Seriously, they actually listen to what I want. If I say I want my nails a certain shape, they do it. - Great massages! And, they get better if you're a repeat customer and tip well. Now that they know me, I feel that I get wayyyy more than I pay for in terms of the quality of service. - Great prices: Very, very inexpensive for the area. If you pay with a card, the base price for a full spa pedicure is $23. I believe the cash price is $21. Honestly, I don't know how they can give such good service for so cheap in the Houghton/Bridle Trails area. - Easy to get in to be seen: I've only made an appointment a handful of times because it's just easier to walk in. Even if they're busy, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. And, since I'm most often there for a pedicure, they usually let me wait in a massage chair with my feet in that warm bubble bath. Oh, darn :). - Really nice nail polish selection, and all name-brand polish (mostly OPI) - Lots of free parking & it's easy to find; the spa is located in a strip mall at one of the neighborhood's main intersections Con: - Hours: I wish they were open later in the evening. I noticed this place for the first time last Sunday, when I did a walk-in to get my acrylic nails soaked off. They were very professional and polite. The shop was well-lit and clean. The technician spent a lot of time soaking and filing the product off, so it wouldn't be painful and she did a very thorough job. My nails didn't come out looking like I ran them through a wood chipper (which is what usually happens when you get acrylics removed). She did a nice manicure, too. The polish chipped the next day, but that's because my nails are weak--not due to her lack of attention or skill. I think I'll go back for regular manicures. read more

These women are amazing! I love to treat myself to a pedi and they are by far the best I have found on the Eastside. They are always welcoming and remember who we are even if it has been a couple months. I can't always find a babysitter so my son often has to come with me. They are very nice to him (it helps that he is a good baby!) and love to talk to him. I love flowers and the do the best flowed on my toes. The polish stays on for over a month!!
