I live just down the street from Centinela Cafe and I have never come here until recently. I'm usually rushing off to work or I get home after they close - but wish I had started to come here earlier! The cafe has been around for many years and is in a very small shopping center with a cleaners and a Pupuseria. The staff is very friendly and they have quite an extensive menu. All the food here is a mix of diner and Mexican food with combo and specials. One of the first things I wanted to try is their Centinela breakfast burrito which has eggs, potatoes and sausage. This is a hefty burrito. My other go-to is the BLT which I always order with double bacon. One point, depending on which staff member you get, when you ask for extra bacon, the price will be different. I like my BLTs hefty. The bread is toasted with crisp lettuce, good slices of tomato and the bacon. The bacon is on the crispy side. Personally, I like just a tad of chew on my bacon, but the sandwich is my favorite there. Fries are also cooked to order and they are the thick ones, but not as big as steak fries. Ask for ketchup if you are taking your order to go. The lobby is clean and they have a couple seats while you wait for your food. There are three video games as well that I don't think anyone has used in a long time. I never had quarters or cash on me! :) They do take credit cards as well as cash. The parking lot is small, but usually plenty of parking on Braddock. When school is in session, it gets busy when school let's out in the afternoon as many kids pass by Centinela Cafe on their way home from school. I need to try some of their other dishes soon! Waitress service was great however I would NOT recommend the French toast... It's soggy, not cooked properly . I asked them to cook it more and explain to them that it was mush/soggy. they did cook a new order however It was still Soggyy. They over soak the egg in the bread so the center is not cooked it's just raw Egg batter soaked in bread. Cooked on the outside not the inside. I've been coming to Centinela Cafe ever since I started attending the middle school that is nearby. I remember I used to skip eating lunch at school to only have a late lunch afterschool here. It's one of few mom and pop places that is still around from my childhood I still enjoy as an adult today. Honestly, their food is so good and freshly made to order. I always opt for either the chicken tacos, the carnitas plate, or the cheeseburger special. Their taquitos aren't bad either. The service is always top notch. The staff are always friendly and they have never made a mistake with my orders. The cafe itself looks like your typical 90's cafe. It has the red seats with the black tables and cream colored walls with the mini blinds. It screams nostalgia to me and takes me back to the 12 year old kid that walked in almost every Friday afternoon to have a late lunch with my friends. The price is affordable. A cheeseburger special runs about $12 including tax. And if you ask politely for a calendar, they will give one to you for free. read more

There's only one register so even though I ordered for pick up, I had to wait 15-20 minutes to get through to the line to get my food. Just leave the food to the cook and the register to the cashiers period. This place was the bomb.com with affordable prices BUT lately it's become expensive. The girl with the glasses has some stinky attitude but the worst part is that she does not wear gloves. She touches everyone's cash or cards then proceeds to pack food and if you order chili fries she will be the one to sprinkle cheese on your food without washing her hands or wearing gloves. I have to ask her to wear gloves or wash her hands every time she's about to make my chili fries and I get attitude for it so I started to requested that the cook be the only one to make my entire food as it should be done. Breakfast burritos are delicious! Wait time for food however is always a long wait.

I live in the neighborhood and have been coming to Centinela Cafe for the past 12+ years. After Covid there prices went up astronomically like most places but I still would show up because at least when I left I was full. However these last couple times the portions have been laughable. Tonight I ordered chicken tenders and an ice tea (no fries) . 14$ which I thought was a lot but whatever. Get home and it's 3 weak little tiny skinny tenders, and a "large" drink which looks like a small That's like $3.50 a tender. Not only am i starving still but im out $14. We all know mexican places on the west side are either a hit or miss - this place was a hit i had their machaca break fast burrito with rice and beans a couple of months ago and came back a couple of days ago for their chorizo burrito with has browns the machaca burrito was made with asada instead of shredded beef - that's the only weird thing imo their chorizo burrito was so tasty and it WAS NOT dripping with oil - which is rare when you usually get chorizo burritos def a jem and rare find in the west side that offers menu items that remind me of home read more

Well I work in the area now and came in for a few hours on a Saturday and needed a place to grab some brunch. Found this on YELP ( of course ) and was not disapointed. The location has plenty of seating and lots of food options. However this place is nothing fancy just straight up cafe with good food. They have parking at their little shopping center area it seems like as the place was a bit packed when I went and they still had parking. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They have a self serve house coffee area so if you get that dont wait for them to bring to you. The food here was great, I ordered their strawberry and banana french toast with combo that comes with 2 eggs , bacon, and 2 sausages. Everything tasted great and fresh when brought to our table. Great 1st time trying this place. Got the breakfast steak machaca, Juevos a la Mexicana, and side of pancakes. Their salsa was so good.
