I have been coming to George's Burgers located at 3101 Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica for at least 30 years and not much has changed regarding the exterior or interior, but the true constant is the quality of food, especially the burger. Tonight I had the Hamburger Special that includes Fries ($17.49) and a Hot Dog ($4.89) and a drink that comes with the burger special. The kitchen is open and you see a fairly clean operation despite the volume of business they do and this is strictly a regulars stop for good, quick and fresh items that include breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings off a very extensive menu where refills are free! They have an ample parking lot and are just north across the street from WHOLE FOODS. The restrooms remain sketchy, but the food is reasonable in price and healthy in portions. I'll match their burger and fries with any chain establishment in the area and there ability to retain employees is impressive as it seems no one retires or leaves! After stopping by the Marine Park Community Garden to visit a friend, I was hungry and needed to find something to eat. This little spot was nearby, so I decided to give it a try. Parking was easy since they have their own parking lot. Inside, the place reminded me of Lucky's in Pasadena. It seemed clean and well-maintained. They serve burgers, all-day breakfast, and Mexican food. I ordered the Denver omelet after seeing a customer was eating it, and it looked pretty good. It didn't take long for my food to arrive. The portion was generous, and the omelet was packed with green peppers and ham, which made it quite filling. The taste was decent, and it was a satisfying meal for the price. I ordered a cheese omelet with avocado on the side. Well, I didn't know that *cold* (!) American cheese squares would be plopped on the top of it and it was gross. The avocado wasn't fully ripe either. Really kind of a bummer. I don't see myself going back. I know they have been here many years and you would think this is an easy item but it really turned me off. The service at the register was friendly and the restaurant was clean. One thing they have going for them, which is hard in Santa Monica, is that they have their own parking lot. My husband and I come here once every 2 months or so. He grew up in the area so I think he just has nostalgia attached to this place. It gives local dinner vibes. The customer service is also great. I feel like some dishes are better than others though. I have tried their burger and their burritos and I think both are pretty solid. The egg sandwich was good but honestly didn't taste like anything fantastic or crazy. I don't think I would order it again. I would forsure get their burrito or burger though. Decent food at an affordable price! My husband and I have tried their club sandwich, their cheeseburgers, their breakfast burritos, their fries, onion rings, and fried zucchini. The food is reminiscent of Jim's, Lucky Boys... just old fashioned food that's decently priced. The burgers are good but a little dry for my taste. I ask for extra thousand island when I get the burgers to compensate. The fries and onion rings are super good, but the fried zucchini is kind of mid. They're not crispy and lack flavor. The breakfast burritos on the other hand are so so good! I ask for extra pico de gallo when I get this. I ordered the one with bacon, has brown, eggs, and cheese, but they forgot the bacon. The burrito was so so good, I didn't even realize it didn't have bacon until I was almost done with it. I highly recommend getting a breakfast burrito--they're huge and tasty and not expensive. The only thing I really hate about George's is that they don't have orange bang, which a lot of old school places to eat like this usually have. I really love though that the cooks and staff are always playing Hispanic music and they are always in a good mood. Total came to $14.71, which felt fair for the quality. Service was solid and fast, with friendly staff and quick turnaround on the food. Ambience is classic burger joint casual--nothing fancy, but it works. That said, the place could use a bit of a cleanup, especially the floors and tables. I've eaten at George's many times over the years and while nothing out of the ordinary, it serves a purpose in a neighborhood that has leaned heavily into gentrification over recent years. You're not going here for the decor, that's for sure. The restaurant is bare bones and probably needed a facelift 5 years ago, but there is a charm to the simplicity as well. The menu is relatively expansive featuring popular breakfast items, mexican food, burgers and sandwiches. There are a few "dinner entrees" like a fried shrimp platter as well. Nothing stands out as particularly exceptional here, but everything I've had has been good enough. It's reasonably priced for the area and you don't have to wait long for your food. The service is always friendly. You get old school diner energy mixed with something that still feels uniquely LA. I wish more of these types of places still existed around the city. Stop by the nostalgia, the prices and the convenience. Don't expect mind-blowing food, but it's all serviceable and great when in search of a no frills meal. read more

Open since 1995 I have lived near this place for many years and I've driven by it countless times but for some reason I've never tried it. Given that George is also my dog's name I figured it was time that I tried it and I am so glad that I did. It's a traditional to go burger spot, but they also have breakfast and other types of sandwiches and classic comfort food. They have a large free parking lot attached so parking is easy, the menu is gigantic with fair prices, and service was super fast and friendly. Everything that we ordered was ready about 10 minutes after we placed the order, even though it was quite busy inside on a Saturday night @ 7PM. Most people get it to go, but they do have tables indoor and out. For my first visit I wanted to try some of their higher rated items so I ordered a Double Avocado Cheeseburger and a Steak Sandwich. Both were fantastic, but the Steak Sandwich was especially good. The steak did not have fat at all, was perfectly seasoned, and cooked exactly as I ordered it. The fries were also a really great side dish and I was just overall very impressed with the meal. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quick and casual comfort food meal, and I plan to be back in the future to try more items. read more

Now I understand why there are always people and cars and activity at the corner of George's. We decided to find out why all the action for ourselves and now we know why. The burgers are huge and great quality. We actually split the double cheese with avocado and bacon and we overwhelmed with the great quality of the smokey meat and toppings. We also loved our order of onion rings which were not greasy and very tasty. The prices are quite reasonable and they make an extra effort to keep the premises super clean considering the volume. 4.5 out of 5 stars it won't let me do a half star for some reason but it was really good. I got the pastrami. The only reason I'm not giving it. A five star is because they're onion rings aren't seasoned the batter is really good. I just think that they need to like stick the fry seasoning they use on the onion rings or at least more of it cause I can't really taste it. The customer service is really great though, and it reminds me of like just a nice small burger chain. Their cheeseburgers are always fresh and delicious, i usually add a fried egg to mine, and you can't miss out on the perfectly seasoned fries with a side of their bomb house ranch - 10/10 The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, with diner style booths located throughout. This Santa Monica staple is one of my favorites for their burgers, chicken tenders, breakfast items - and their insanely flavorful chili cheese fries. Side of ranch with everything. Oh what happened to my favorite fast food restaurant!! For many years I promoted them as the place to go for a great meal at a great price. Not anymore! The menu now contains some of the highest prices in the area. The rise in prices is unjustified. That is 100% facts, and the menu has so many things omg, I'm gonna run through them because I don't cook twice a week. Mom & Pop places like this diner style, I have found can be some of the best. Great place. They have been around here for years turning out quality diner food. My go to is a double bacon cheese burger with fried zucchini. It really takes me back and I have been ordering it since I was a kid living in this area. The burger has the perfect hint of char grilled flavor and the cheese is always melted to perfection. The zucchini is always fried and breaded and goes perfect with a little ranch. They have the best ranch dressing In LA. Bar none. As most places the prices have gone up. But the quality of food is still high so I'm totally fine with it. You can't really go wrong if you order a burger, or some classic Mexican food. I come here for the burgers though. I think they are up there with the best in LA because it's one of the only places where you can get that char grilled flavor. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.
