I just received a letter in the mail from Central DBA labeled, "Time Sensitive-Open Immediately". When I opened the letter it looked very official and had my DBA filing number and filing date on the document. The letter stated that I need to start my legal publication as soon as possible or I'm not in compliance with the state of California. The letter was presented as though they're the local government and you have to immediately send in your money or you'll be out of compliance. Like the other reviewers stated, Central DBA uses shady marketing, trying to appear as an official government entity in order to get your money. I almost sent out payment fearing that my DBA filing would be in non-compliance until, upon further scrutinizing I saw in small print that it was NOT an official notice...This is a very sneaky, if not dishonest, way of doing business! This place is probably a scam! I sent them money to publish my Fictitious Business name in a publication, but I never received any proof that they actually did so. What a waste!!!! Lame, scam place. We purchased a full package, that included both filing paperwork, and publication, from a DIFFERENT company. Yet we keep getting these "official looking" marketing pieces from them, trying to get me to pay them to publish. I hate aggressive marketing stuff like this, that tries to mislead people to get you to do business with them. read more

My DBA filing hasn't even been completed yet and I'm already getting junk mail from this company sent to my home address, which is not the location of my business -- I have a business address that was used in the filing. Putting California law info on the envelope along with LA filing data to make it look official is highly misleading. I have owned and operated many different business over the last 20 years. Before I found Central DBA I would dread having to publish my information in the news paper. It was always a big hassle having to deal with those vouchers at the County Recorder in Norwalk stalking you or having to fax or email the information to the local newspaper. With Central DBA they have a great system and the process is very automated. Sometime I just don't want to talk to anybody, and with them I can just log into my account and click a few buttons and its all done. They send a confirmation and proof that it was published. The best, and I would recommend them to any serious business person who does not have time to deal with a bunch of sales people and other crap. read more

I just used their services. Yes, the mailings were a bit misleading, but I kept their mailing just in case. As I priced out different publications in my area, the costs were a lot higher than I expected. I made a call, spoke to a helpful rep and spent $38 for a 4 week publication. I appreciated that they will also confirm my published DBA with the County. So, misleading advertising aside, this company helped me out and their price was much more reasonable. read more

Outstanding service at a very reasonable price. For those of you complaining about receiving the bright orange letters, relax. You DO have to publish in a local newspaper for four weeks and you do have to pay. I have found that you can, 1. Call around to newspapers, find someone that knows what you are talking about, mail them a copy of your DBA with a check and hope everything proceeds according to plan. That will cost a few hours of time, a stamp and an envelope and cost you [from my experience] about $32-35. Or 2. You can go online to these folks type in your case number and they handle everything for $38. Come on, it is a no brainer. read more

8/30/15 I am pre-posting based on most people's reviews. I am a brand new business and when given the list of newspapers and contacted them, the amounts were quite high being $115.00 for the lowest one. Then I received in the mail Central DBA's advertisement. Come on, Ladies and Gentlemen, it is an advertisement. Read the document (on the third line) they send: "Please disregard this notice if you have already arranged for legal publication." It is not threatening you that you have not filed, it is not anything but advertising and the Red and black print is for the sole business of bringing your eye's attention to different parts of the advertisement. I sure hope everyone who put a 1 star takes a look at their advertisement and if it is not aggressive, how much of your product or service will you sell? Like I said, I am pre-posting. I am giving this business a 5-star rating based the cost and professionalism on the advertising. I have given them 5-stars until my business with them is done. I will update once the 4-week process is done and adjust if necessary. 8/31/15 Okay. So I received my rough draft of my notice. I'm not sure what everyone is so upset about. I saved a BUNCH of money with this company, they were responsive to my emails, they let me know the time frame for completion in advance, kept me posted during the whole process and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, delivered the product as promised on time. I had no idea how to go about getting my DBA published in a "newspaper of general circulation" while meeting all the requirements of the LA county clerk. This company made the process SO simple and was extremely reasonably priced (dare I say cheap!?) They also filed the proof of publication for me. Their marketing tactic is not straightforward - they really need to make it clear that you do not HAVE TO do business with them as there are many other options out there, and they are not part of the government system. This company is a scam. They send out a solicitation that appears to be an official bill from a government agency, but it is not. I received this "bill" for publication of my fictitious business name stating that publication is required by law. However, I happened to remember that is only for new business names, not renewals like mine. So I went to the Los Angeles County web site to see if this requirement had changed and it has not. No publication is required for business name renewals. Stay away from this company and warn your friends. read more

After reading all these reviews, I have decided to use Central DBA to publish my announcement. I am surprised that so many people's negative reviews were only about the advertising (which I read and did not find threatening, unlike the guys who cornered me outside the filing office!) and not about the service. The only person who complained about the service got a detailed reply from a company rep who seemed to indicate that everything HAD been done and included dates of the mailings and contact info for help. I appreciate a company that works to address any complaint - even those about the fact that it uses red ink in their mailers. The fact is that I called several newspapers about filing and found: Los Angeles Times - $491 Burbank Leader - $115 Glendale News-Press - $115 Santa Monica Daily Press - $65 San Fernando Valley Sun - couldn't get through Because I am only filing to meet the legal requirements and don't care about readership (the LA Times tried to convince me they were worth the $$ because of their vast circulation), I don't really care which paper is used as long as it meets the LA County requirements. You do need to be published by an adjudicated newspaper, but the way Central DBA handles their business/marketing is very unprofessional in my opinion. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Their document is highlighted in red. They use a very aggressive scare tactic/marketing ploy designed to get you to use their service. You can find less expensive and less threatening services to use that will handle this step in completing your business name filing. read more

I did not think that this business is a scam after logging in to their website. With all the avenues for communication with their office printed on their flyer, common sense will tell you it's not a "Scam!!!!!!! Scam!!!!!! Scam!!!!!!!!" I used this service 5 years ago with no issues. Everything was published and I received proof of publication with no problem. Just added another dba and used the service again. I made a mistake and called to fix my publication request. Phone was answered promptly (I was worried I wouldn't reach a human) and my mistake was corrected quickly and courteously. read more
