Odd since the only info you need for an appointment is the patient's name and birth date. The remaining "personal" information would be the policy holder of the insurance which would be me. Pretty sure my 21 YO doesn't know who the insurer is, my birth date or the last four of my SSN which is what they need to submit the insurance claim. Not sure that the less than user friendly staff understands the concept of HIPAA in this context. I am the person providing all the of the "personal" information. Never been told I couldn't make an appointment for someone in my family because of HIPAA. Happy to take my business elsewhere.

The office was all decked out after having a bit of a makeover. There were snacks galore, some tasty beverages, and a lot of smiling faces warmly greeting me when I entered. They offered a free eye x-ray thingie and it was pretty cool seeing what my eyeball looks like from the inside. I had my exam and brought in an old pair of glasses that needed new lenses. They asked if I had any interest in buying new ones, but didn't really push when I declined. However, I had my heart set on owning my first pair of prescription sunglasses and I ended up with a pair of bitchin' Michael Kors. This was done with the assistance of several amazing ladies telling me which ones looked good, and which ones looked horrible. Sometimes you just need a honest women telling you that your head is too giant for a pair of eyewear. Oh, and I also got hooked up with the first pair of contacts that didn't make me want to claw my eyes out. SWEEEEEET! After my exam and purchases, I partook of a chair massage, some delicious cupcakes and strawberries and cheese aaaand you get the idea. I enjoyed myself, let's put it that way. I started blind in one eye and told him contacts never worked me. Everyone else in my past went about their routine and just left my blurry half-blind eyeglass prescription alone, but he went above and beyond and got me seeing again with a specialized contact lens. Needless to say but I'm floored to be seeing again out of both eyes with full peripheral vision. Staff had no issues with my insurance regardless of the complexity of the situation. I am giving two stars instead of one because if you can avoid being seen by Dr. Nuccio the rest of the office isn't bad.
