Pretty sure my 21 YO doesn't know who the insurer is, my birth date or the last four of my SSN which is what they need to submit the insurance claim. Not sure that the less than user friendly staff understands the concept of HIPAA in this context. I am the person providing all the of the "personal" information. Never been told I couldn't make an appointment for someone in my family because of HIPAA. Happy to take my business elsewhere.

The doctor who came in afterwards to do her own checking was bubbly and fun, but also thorough, checked on a few things the student had done, asking how the student graded a certain test she did, then shared the 'grade' she gives--small difference. It was a two-hour total experience--exactly how I was told it would probably be when I did the phone registration. Best thing about costs is they DO accept Medicare, I only paid $25 to cover dilation--not covered by Medicare.

Dr. Shari met with me; and after an initial consultation with one of the doctor's associates, she tested my vision and analyzed the photos of my eyes. Wonder of wonders, despite the time that has passed and my advanced age, there was no change. So I could proceed with new glasses using the same prescription. I wanted the same frame design that I was happy with, and I was happy to hear that the model was still available and had not been discontinued. So I proceeded to order the new glasses. Asked for a 2-3 minute adjustment to my frames that had been purchased there. Overheard front desk asking Lisa in Optical and she said no, I'm busy, she needs to make an appointment. She didn't walk 15 feet to come over to see what I needed or speak to me herself. I had even said I had no problem waiting if she was busy. They just told me to make an appointment and come back another day. No thanks. I'm not going to take time out of my workday and drive 20 minutes each way to come back for something that should take 2 to 3 minutes. This massive lack of customer service is not on brand for the treatment that we receive from Dr. Robert or Bauer and was highly disappointing. Midwest Eye Optical will not be seeing another dime of my hard-earned money. If we didn't love the eye doctors so much I'd be finding a new one for all 4 of my family members. Collette made a subtle remark under her breath about hoping the frames would still be there, which struck me as unnecessary. Two days later, she called to ask if I was coming back for the frames. When I explained that I was still deciding and had requested a copy of my prescription, her tone noticeably shifted. She sounded curt and dismissive, and told me getting my prescription wasn't her department, even though the front desk is only steps away. When I later called back for an update, she answered again and was just as dismissive. I didn't feel confident my request would be followed through, and asked to speak with someone else. Her response made it clear that helping me was a burden. Ultimately, I had to make a third contact and visit the office in person to get my prescription. Even then, it wasn't signed by the doctor, and no one, including Collette, acknowledged the confusion or offered an apology. I've worked in customer service and wouldn't speak to any customer the way I was spoken to. I expected more from an office with such strong reviews and designer branding.
