The glasses I was wearing for three years broke the other day. The left arm fell off splitting away from the frame. So I called Dr. Shari's office and was advised that I should undergo an exam since it had been some time since my last exam. Dr. Shari met with me; and after an initial consultation with one of the doctor's associates, she tested my vision and analyzed the photos of my eyes. Wonder of wonders, despite the time that has passed and my advanced age, there was no change. So I could proceed with new glasses using the same prescription. I wanted the same frame design that I was happy with, and I was happy to hear that the model was still available and had not been discontinued. So I proceeded to order the new glasses. Less than two weeks after signing up for the full coverage, give-me-everything-you-got plan through my husband's employer, I had a patient decide it would be a fine time to rip my glasses off my face. The frames didn't quite make it but it was nothing that some super glue and duct couldn't fix, at least until I could get in to the nearest provider for a current exam and a script. This was the closest place to my home listed on the insurers (VSP) website so I called and made my appointment with the first available, Dr. Kevin Harte. The receptionists were quick in checking me in and a tech called me back to do pre-appointment testing before I saw the doctor. I waited another 8 minutes before I was called into an examination room. They had a relatively up-to-date selection of periodicals in the waiting room and lots of lighting. Long story short, Dr. Kevin is fantastic! I've been to a few optometrists in my day and generally prefer ophthalmologists as I feel more comfortable seeing a medical doctor, especially given my history. But he was super knowledgeable, encouraged questions, asked lots of questions about my personal and family history and was just a total rock star. He gave me my prescription and told me I could browse the office's selection of frames or take my script elsewhere. I, of course, already knew I could go anywhere I wanted but I liked that he put the option out there versus other providers that try to push, push, push their products on you. I decided to take a look at the frame selection they had available - admittedly, the super-glued and medi-taped pair of spectacles I was currently sporting may or may not have factored into that decision. Most of their selection is made up of fancy pants name brands that are all $200 plus and my insurance only covered $125 for frames but I did end up finding some on sale for $115. They told it would be 10-14 days before the glasses arrived but one week later, I had the them in my hands. I would recommend to anyone looking for a friendly, local place to get an eye exam, especially if it's from Dr. Kevin! read more

When I first moved to Lombard in 1993, I picked (the late) Dr. Ray Jurgensen at random out of the phone book -- remember the phone book? -- and I was not disappointed. My husband and I have been coming to this office ever since. We now see Dr. Shari Jurgensen who has the same professional warmth as her father. She is always patient and personable and positive. She takes time to answer questions and to educate. She does not push unnecessary products or procedures. I always feel Dr. Shari wants the most comfortable solution for my vision and lifestyle and she lets me try many products before committing to one. The office has been modernized and expanded since our first visit. While the selection of frames is smaller than in chain stores, Jurgensen & Associates has expanded and updated the styles offered. I have an especially difficult challenge finding frames that fit because most adult glasses are too wide in the temple for my face. Children's glasses are more narrow, but they look like, well, children's glasses. Jurgensen & Associates now has a line of frames for people like me and for 'tweens'. They are the best fitting, best looking frames I've had yet. I find the prices to be competitive too. The staff here are also patient. They have worked with me through complicated insurance issues and overly complex rebates. I cannot recommend Dr. Shari and Jurgensen & Associates more highly. read more

So, um, yeah... Two weeks after this incident and there is a message on my voicemail. Despite the fact that I questioned the charges that supposedly were my responsibility and despite the assurance that they did indeed bill my insurance correctly and I did in fact owe them the amount they charged me, guess what? OF COURSE THEY DIDN'T BILL THE INSURANCE CORRECTLY AND OF COURSE I DIDN'T REALLY OWE WHAT THEY CHARGED ME. They overcharged me over $60! While I appreciate the admission and the eventual refund back to my credit card, this only proves what I posted in my previous review: their billing practices suck and they don't know what the heck they're doing. Trust and respect are big things in the medical profession. I have absolutely NO trust in this office and NO respect for Dr Shari after the way she treated me. But hey, Dr Kevin still rocks. read more

Dr. Shari Jurgensen and staff are great people and so grateful for her service and business here in the Lombard area. I've referred her to several coworkers and friends because that's how much I TRUST her. Trust is huge especially in the medical practicing field and she's amazing. She's detailed and takes the time to listen when she examines your eyes. I've also called once for an emergency when my eyes were all itchy and puffy and she accommodated me that day and prescribed me some drops. But that's just it, she goes beyond customer service. She's easily become my favorite eye doctor. And if she's unavailable, her associate Dr. Tish is also an amazing doctor as well. read more

Dr. Shari Jurgensen is the BEST!!!! She really cares about her patients and goes out of her way for them. I have been having problems with my contacts and had been to numerous other places and all failed in helping. I was referred to Dr. Jurgensen and she has gone above and beyond to work on this problem with me. She never seems annoyed and she never wants to give up. She listens to what I have to say and I believe she is very concerned and wants to find the answer to the problem. The staf is always so welcoming and kind. I was very impressed with Dr. Jurgensen and her staff after my recent (and first) visit to her office. They were professional, kind and patient with me. My eyes have a number of issues so I sent my records from my opthalmologist and retina specialist in advance. It was obvious that Dr. Jurgensen had read these reports prior to my appointment and she was prepared for my exam. I have a hang-up about eye exams since I started wearing glasses in first grade and contact lenses over 45 years ago. Also, my prescription is strong and my contacts are monovision so I can't be the easiest person to fit. Dr. Jurgensen did a great job and the staff person that helped me pick out glasses was very helpful, gave me great advice and took lots of time with me. I am confident that my new glasses and contacts will fit properly. I am looking forward to getting them. read more

I came to Dr. Shari Jurgensen on the recommendation of my ophthalmologist. I am difficult to fit because of cataracts that are just beginning to encroach on my vision. Dr. Shari did an amazing job fitting my contact lenses. Glasses were more challenging, but she made sure that I was comfortable coming back when the first pair wasn't quite right. Staff was wonderful about following up on the order and making me feel comfortable from start to finish. If you are looking for an optometrist who listens, shows concern, is willing to do whatever it takes to help you, and is skilled and smart...come to Dr. Shari Jurgensen's office. I've been coming to Dr. Tish for several years now. She is always on time for her appointments and takes the time to explain all the tests and results thoroughly. I keep coming back because I like Dr. Tish. I'm only giving 3 stars because of the office. I believe their selection of glasses is quite weak. Yesterday I found only 1 pair in the whole place that I liked. Also, the prices are rather expensive, even after they take off all the "discounts". Maybe they have to charge so much because there were no less than 4 people working behind the counter, but I was the only customer there. Weird. There's also the special parking space in the lot for Dr. Jurgensen with a sign that says you'll basically be prosecuted if you park there. Wow. Ok. read more

after deciding that it was time to see an eye doctor I settled on Jurgensen and associates and was very pleased, Gia and the front office ladies are fun and made the visit enjoyable, , doctor Tish was very nice and got my eyes figured out, and answered all the questions I asked, I was able to find a couple of pairs of frames that I liked and they ordered everything up, and the glasses arrived when they said they would. what else can I say every thing went well and I'm happy with the visit. read more

i have been going to Dr. Jurgensen and associates for over 25 years. I first used to see Dr. Ray and he was great. I now see Dr. Shari and can't be happier. She is always very nice and explains everything. They have a wide range of frame selection and the girls at the counter are always there to help me pick one out. Their prices are just as reasonable as anywhere else. I have recommended Dr. Shari to many of my friends and have nothing but positive things to say. I also have read past reviews about the parking sign and i know that was a sign Dr Ray had put up after he had a health scare. guess the sign just stayed and who cares, there is plenty of parking spots in the lot. read more

Dr. Sheri is very nice, but her staff is so rude and ill mannered towards customer. I was 16 minutes late in the morning and receptionist Jackie would not check me in. She stated that I was too late for doctor to check me and she is with another patient. There was no patient in the waiting area or in the examination room. I took pictures of the parking lot as well, there was no car parked. The only car that was parked was Dr. Sheri's Audi. Pictures of the parking lot are attached. I was so upset that she did not check me in, hence I canceled my son's appointment as well. Guess what, my $800 expense went to "For Eyes" on Roosevelt Road. Dr. Jurgensen's approach to patient care is holistic and thorough. Another reviewer referred to her "professional warmth" and I agree with that description. I have been seeing Dr. Jurgensen for a few years now and she always spends a lot of time with me and makes sure that I am comfortable with my contacts/glasses and that they work for my lifestyle. The front desk is sufficiently staffed (calls are answered promptly, check-in/check-out process is efficient, etc.) and, on my most recent visit, I found the office assistants to be friendly and helpful. I can't speak to some of the other comments here about the price/selection of contacts and glasses, as I wear contacts that I purchase online. read more

I would give this place no stars if possible. They over charge compared to every other eye doctor out there and some lady at the counter was extremely rude. Dishonest and not upfront about anything. They wanted to charge me $97 for an exam when my insurance covers it and should be a $25 copay only. They then claim to explain eye exams are 2 things there, they have glasses exam and contact exam so that's how they get $97. They also wanted to charge me $70 per box of contacts. I fought them about shitty pricing and attitude and left to my old eye doctor. The only reason I came is I thought my old eye doctor didn't take my insurance. When I went to my old one they said my insurance covers the exam and they also only charged me $42.80 per box of the same exact contacts. Never go to this place they are a scam artist. Also upgrade your office, its 2017 and the place looks like a dump. With all the money you're raking in at least upgrade your dinky office. read more

I've been visiting this eye doctor since I was in 1st or 2nd--I'm 32 y.o.--and can't say that I have ever had any issues, rather only positive experiences. I've never had eye insurance, however, my dental insurance offers a discount and I don't bother using it because I like this doctor a lot. For most people, going to the eye doctor is a bit of a burden, but I enjoy my yearly chats with Dr. Jurgensen during my eye exam. I would highly recommend!!! read more
