(perfect since I don't have a car) Upon arrival, we were quickly escorted to a room and the doctor came in maybe 5 minutes later. After a short exam, we got the dreadful news that our baby's organs were shutting down from a possible tumor and there wasn't much we could do besides send her to intensive care. The staff was very understanding of our distraught and even let us stay in the room with her past closing until we were ready to leave. We didn't feel rushed at all. They even remembered us when we came two weeks later to pick up her ashes and they were truly amazing. I will definitely be coming back with my other pets in the future.

I had been in a month before assessing my (almost) 19-year-old Maltese, and while my mother, sister, and mother-in-law were all vocal that "it's time", my husband and I wanted to do her end-of-life care at home. On the final day, I called the vet's office and asked for a different cough medicine because it wasn't working anymore. Jessica was super kind, and I felt like she almost felt sorry for me because it was clear to everyone that we were holding on way past time. She kindly said she would get with the vet and call me back. I called her again with another follow-up piece of information about the cough's increasing intensity. And finally, when my husband and I faced the fact that she was likely in heart failure or in some other way at risk of a painful death (TMI to list all symptoms here) - I called a 3rd time and could barely utter the words "hi, it's Nellie's mom again. It's time". That was all I could get out. She didn't ask questions; she only facilitated a time that was best for me. We brought Nellie in, and the veterinary assistant and the vet could not have been any more compassionate and reassuring. I've had two other dogs, one euthanized over 10 years ago, and another one died in the OR, and no other vet and team was this compassionate. The kicker, I just received a handwritten card from their doctor and staff. I really don't have time to be writing a novel today as I prepare for a trip and on Super Bowl Sunday before company comes, but for those who are fed up with the corporate-run, money-first, pet-last, pushy clinics, this is the place to go.

Today, his veterinarian was Dr. Wartenbee. Diego likes her very much and so do we. Dr. Wartenbee prescribed some medicated shampoo and Douxo Mouse for his paws. He also needed an inflatable collar to wear for about six weeks to encourage him to not lick his feet. Animal Clinic of Wekiva is a great clinic. We feel confident that Diego is always well taken care of and will be healthy again soon.
