We have been wanting to take a trip to Cave Vineyard for a while! A bit over an hour drive from…read morehome, I'd have definitely been more upset at making this drive had we not stopped a couple other places in Ste Genevieve that offered redemption for the experience we had here. The one positive I can mention, is the people are all super nice. Sadly, everything else falls short. The wine is terrible. Not just terrible, but I think that there is something actually wrong with most of them as most are unpleasantly sour and taste of vinegar. I think they must know this too, as these wines are priced 1/2 off for a bottle on their menu. They'd do well just to cut their losses, and dump them. The Grotta Rosa, and the Cave rock were the only two wines that were palatable, and they were just okay. The oddest part of the whole experience of the Cave Vineyard, is in fact the cave. All wine is sampled, and purchased at their tasting room....which is not in the cave. The cave is simply a place that you can sit and drink, and you must either walk to it (which is only maybe a 5-7 minute walk) or they offer to take you there via golf cart. So, you must either purchase all your bottles up front to take with you, or make trips back and forth. You must also head back to the tasting room, to use the bathroom. Definitely skip this one.

Excellent visit! Only need to buy a bottle of wine to go down to the cave! The service was great!…read moreAmbiance is a little dark and cold in the cave but you can sit outside in the deck for light and warmth.

I think it's something adults will enjoy more so than the kids just because of the science behind it all. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would…read more I recently went floating here on July 4, 2026, and a huge, unexpected storm rolled in while we were on the river. We were caught in severe thunder, lightning, and extremely painful hail. The conditions became so dangerous that we could barely see, paddling was no longer effective, and our raft was rapidly filling with water. We ultimately had to call 911 because we genuinely feared for our safety. About 30 minutes later, firefighters rescued us by boat. What I can't understand is where Meramec Caverns was during all of this. As a customer, I expected the outfitter to have some type of emergency response or plan to help get people off the river when conditions become life-threatening. Instead, we were left relying on emergency responders. This wasn't my only disappointing experience here. On several previous float trips with Meramec Caverns, the staff at the launch area stood by while customers struggled to carry coolers, load rafts, and get situated. Rather than assisting, many appeared to be standing around talking or looking at their phones. It gave the impression that customer service simply wasn't a priority. As someone who loves floating, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Customer service matters, and safety matters even more. Meramec Caverns has lost a loyal customer. If you're looking for another option, I'd recommend Lucky Clover Campground. In my experience, their staff has always been professional, helpful, and responsive. Based on what I experienced, I would feel much more comfortable floating with them in the future.

Food was fresh, delicious and portions were generous. With plans for an outdoor wedding, this venue is prepared for any weather and can quickly prepare for last minute changes. We opted for the outdoor tent. This area has a beautiful backdrop of the lake and vineyard with great lighting in the tent and nearby walking areas. Food and drink is served indoors with plenty of processional space. There is also a separate terrace below the tent for cocktail hour or special gatherings. I would definitely recommend this venue for your special event.

I've visited many times over the years and have even hosted a few celebrations here. The winery continues to evolve, and it impresses me every time I return. The food alone is worth the drive. I ordered the wood-fired sausage pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. I would put it up against pizza from any restaurant in St. Louis or on The Hill. The cheese blend was perfect, and the thin crust made it satisfying without feeling too heavy on a warm day. I highly recommend it. There was also a great live music duo playing, along with several special events that added to the festive atmosphere. I saw birthday celebrations, including a 70th birthday party at the Lakeside Pavilion, as well as a bridal shower and a wedding reception. Even with so much happening, the staff was friendly and attentive, and I didn't have a long wait for my food. There are plenty of unique spaces within the property. Some are for private events, but there was plenty of room open to the public so you could be right in the middle of the action or you could find a little peaceful corner by the grapevines. Villa Antonio is such a lovely place to spend an afternoon. It is well worth the short 35 minute drive from Webster Groves.
