Did a virtual Santa on the Loose 5k with a small group at Palm Coast Linear Park…read more I was curious what makes it a "linear" park and as the name indicates a linear park is a park in an urban or suburban setting that is substantially longer than it is wide. A coworker from Palm Coast recommended this spot as our meet up point. It's 57-acres which features a playground, picnic pavilions, hiking and biking trails, shuffleboard, bocce ball and bird watching and (well-maintained) restrooms. There's even a bicycle maintenance station. A few benches are sprinkled throughout the path which came in handy for the senior citizen in our group for quick breaks. I wish I had a map though as we weren't quite sure which path would loop around back to our parking spot and Google maps wasn't as clear. At one point, our path lead us by the Matanzas River and we saw dolphins! We will have to come back with our bikes for more exploring.

I was traveling with someone with a walker and my husband who has limited walking abilities so the long driving loop was great for them and their limitations. However - we had brought a picnic lunch but there were NO picnic tables accessible out of the sun with parking nearby. We did see some tables with lovely shade but there was NO parking at all unless you parked on the grass which was forbidden. I don't know how they expected anyone to get to them unless they were out for a long walk! We finally had to eat lunch sitting in the car and that was sad considering the beautiful surrounding. But aside from the handicap inaccessibilities, we did enjoy the park very much.

It has multiple dual gate entries and it also has a double gated entry going from the big dog park to the small. Has a nice covered gazebo area that is buried amongst a bunch of old growth trees. It has a beautiful Lake that the dogs can easily access through a gate and they can swim and play to their hearts desire or you can keep your dog out of the water if you do not wish it to enjoy itself? There is a nice watering facility as soon as you come in the Dual gated entry and there is a nice concrete pathway that goes out to the picnic tables underneath that gazebo. There is a combination of grass and sand all around. And you park right next to the dog park.

The…read morelaundry machines are constantly broke, the gate to the dog park has a gap large enough for my 60 pound dog to get through, and management thinks it's perfectly ok to turn off water and electricity with less than 12 hours notice. Don't get trapped here. There is a reason for all of the for sale signs and empty lots.
