CPM is a beautiful practice! They are a group of highly experienced and SUPER smart midwives. I had all three of my children with Elaine and had a lovely experience through it all (from my first pre-conception planning meeting in 2018 to the birth of my third child in 2024). My first child was a c-section after a very long labor. After this, I was determined to have a VBAC (and did so with my next two kiddos). They were all so supportive of everything I wanted to do to help make this happen. Each birth experience was different but progressively easier and more peaceful. My favorite things: They are up to date on every single piece of relevant baby / mama research and any question you throw at them via text, email or in person always proves as such. They are warm and comforting - zero shaming or judgment of any sorts. No changing of gowns required -- just a cozy blanket over your lap. Each meeting (because it doesn't feel like a traditional "appointment") is initiated with a catch up on the coziest couch. Each summer there's a new baby picnic in Central Park. It's so nice to catch up under the sun and always so nice to hang out with the person who welcomed your baby into this world. They are all such genuine and caring people. I worked with CPM for both of my pregnancies and had a truly wonderful experience both times. I appreciate the opportunity their practice provides to have prenatal and postpartum midwifery care outside of a hospital setting but deliver at a hospital. And because they do not practice at the hospital, they are on call with you (and any other of their patients who might be in labor), not the entire hospital. Both times, Christina was with me the entire time I was at the hospital. A few other highlights: -Lengthy prenatal visits where I got plenty of time to ask questions and get support -Unlimited messaging and support! I never had such a positive medical experience as I did with the midwives at CPM. I had a truly wonderful pregnancy and birth thanks to them. While Elaine is the one who delivered my baby, I had appointments with Elaine, Chloë and Christina, and loved all three of them equally. Now that it's all over, I will actually miss them! I was seen by an OB for the first 4 months of my pregnancy, at which point I decided to switch to CPM; the more I read about pregnancy and birth, the more I wanted to be followed by midwives and have a chance at a low-intervention birth. The switching process was very easy - I simply had to get my medical records sent to the CPM office. I never felt rushed during an appointment, and always had ample time to ask questions and discuss concerns; that was probably the biggest difference between my experience with the midwives and that with my OB. Bonus: my appointments almost always started on time. Elaine, Chloë and Christina were always friendly, caring and reassuring, but also always professional and rigorous. I laboured at home for a long time, during which my doula and I spoke with Christina on the phone regularly and was encouraged to stay home for as long as felt comfortable doing so. Elaine and Christina were waiting for me at the triage desk as soon as I made it to the hospital, and accompanied me through every step afterwards. Even though I was completely open to the idea of using pain medication and the midwives would have supported my decision either way, I managed to deliver my baby fully naturally, even despite a long labor; Elaine was an awesome coach and helped me believe I had the strength to keep going. Despite my long labor, I was never rushed and always allowed to progress at my own speed. Elaine always kept her cool, explained everything thoroughly, asked for my consent before every procedure and, very importantly, did an amazing job stitching me up when it was all over. Following my baby's birth, Elaine and Christina stuck around for a few hours and made sure I was comfortable and feeling good before heading home. Chloë and Christina visited me in the hospital the next day and made sure I was doing well and was well informed about my postpartum care before being discharged. I really did feel like they cared only about the health of my baby (although they definitely did!), but also about my own health, physical and mental. Even during the difficult postpartum period, they checked in regularly, making sure I was doing well and that I had all the support I needed - something I would never have gotten from a regular OB. Let me start off by saying that pregnancy and birth have become a business and its hard to find an accommodating environment. That being said, you will find that this special moment with your child is often rushed and far too sterile to allow you to bond and feel in control. As a nurse I knew that this is not what I wanted. I wanted to feel in control, safe, and have the most natural experience while having the amenities of a hospital at hand. Almost everyone I knew had had a C- section and I just didn't want to be cut ! So, when my husband and I found out we were pregnant we contacted Central Park Midwifery. At the practice you will rotate with Elaine, Jenna, and Christina. I will say that being pregnant and giving birth are nerve wracking! But these ladies are always available via email and their phone line. And as a nurse I will tell you that you can prepare for the most natural of births but anything can happen- you are bringing a precious life in to this world and it is indescribable. Your body will be doing things it never has and you'll be scared, happy, exhausted and your hormones all over the place. The night I gave birth I was BLESSED with Jenna and Christina. They gave me amazing advice on what to do after my water broke. I really wanted my husband to be with me and be apart of this amazing experience- after all he did participate in this 9 months ago HA HA. During the birth they instructed my husband on how to relax me, what to do when contractions were coming, we felt so close! They were so amazing and patient as I was hollering and whoing for hours. MAN, these women are modern day super heroes. They were the only midwives I interviewed, and I'm so happy I went with them. I originally had a standard, yet highly regarded, OB. After she cancelled 2 of my appts, and was over an hour late to my 3rd attempt at a first appt, I decided she probably was too busy to deliver my baby. So, I decided to get a midwife to help facilitate my wish for a natural, unmedicated birth. Every appointment I had with Jo and Elaine was on time. In fact, I would often get there early and they would end up seeing me right away. My appointments were never rushed, and if I had any questions, they made sure to answer them thoroughly before I left. During my pregnancy, I had a few hiccups. My son was diagnosed with bilateral club foot, and Elaine spent nearly 30 minutes on the phone just to calm me down. She assured me everything would be fine, and that she had another patient whose daughter also had bilateral club foot. I had her pass along my info to this woman, and now this woman and I are friends, and she has been a major support during my child's recovery. Most doctors complain when their patients call too much. Elaine and Jo encouraged it. I rarely called them, and Elaine assured me that if I ever needed them, not to hesitate. Knowing they had my back literally 24/7 was so comforting. During the birth itself, Elaine was cool as a cucumber. She effortlessly ignored me when I begged for an epidural, which is exactly what I told her to do. She could've easily shut me up, but decided to continue listening to my screams for over 9 hours instead, just to make sure I got the birthing experience I wanted. Not to mention she let me labor in a squatting position on the floor, which meant she had to pretty much lay on the floor to catch the baby. That is dedication! I had a traumatic pregnancy flashback while working last evening. I was preparing for an interview with Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) when I read this chilling excerpt from her new memoir: "The issue around my son's gestational age was one of life or death.... His ears were still embedded in his head. His eyes were fused shut. His fingers were grains of rice. My baby could fit in the palm of my hand." The excerpt kept me up all night because, like Rep. Cori Bush, I also experienced intense cramping in the second trimester of my pregnancy. And, like her, I had the horrifying experience of pleading with a white medical provider (Elaine) to take my pain seriously only to be met with hostility and indifference. When I first posted about my experience at CPM, Elaine contacted me and apologized. I believe her apology is sincere and I respect her immensely for doing so. I took down the post because I thought it was "unfair" to blemish CPM's otherwise perfect Yelp ratings. (There was one other negative post on this page that has since been removed). During my insomnia last night, I came to recognize I need to share my experience as part of healing because the trauma is still alive. I can forgive Elaine for treating me neglectfully, but I cannot forget she put my sweet baby in immense danger. I want other women, especially women of color, to know my story is part of CPM's story. I trust Elaine will do better next time, but forgiveness isn't forgetting... and posting here is one way to make sure what happened to me is not forgotten. So what happened? When I was in my second trimester, I began experiencing violent contractions. When I told Elaine, she dismissed my pain and told me pregnancy can be "uncomfortable". She also suggested I was asking too many questions and sending too many emails. The pain persisted and, in desperation, I showed up at the CPM's office. By the time I arrived, I was writhing in pain. Elaine met me in the waiting room with visible hostility and demanded to know why I had showed up unannounced. I apologized through tears and limped to a taxi, barely able to get back home unassisted. I tried to rest as she advised but the pain intensified. That evening, I spoke to a different midwife who advised me to go to the hospital. When I arrived at the hospital, the on-call doctor looked panicked and she admonished me for not coming earlier. I was immediately put on an IV for severe dehydration. The doctor confirmed my contractions had begun prematurely and my baby was in danger. Thankfully, the hospital intervention allowed me to carry a healthy baby to term. When I later questioned Elaine about her treatment of me (and lack of judgement), she refused to engage me in a respectful conversation let alone apologize. She later claimed she had told me I could go to the hospital if I wanted and didn't know why I had waited, which was false and insulting. I've never experienced such gaslighting in my life. I was so traumatized that I tried to change providers very late into the pregnancy out of terror of having Elaine deliver my baby. I told my friend I'd rather have a C-section by an unknown OB/GYN than trust Elaine to deliver my baby. When labor began, I demanded my doula confirm which midwife was on rotation; I remember crying tears of relief to learn a different midwife was on call. The only reason I didn't give CPM a single star is because the other midwives were fantastic (they've both since left). Although I had my desired unmedicated vaginal birth and we're all safe, I'm still horrified by the thought I could've put my child in danger if I had trusted a person who didn't seem to care about me or my baby's well being because she was "having a bad day" (or who knows what the reason). I've since met other mothers who were concerned about how they were treated at CPM so I know I'm not alone. Part of the trauma of my experience was the feeling of complete powerlessness at a time when I yearned to protect the life I was carrying. Writing this review is empowering even half a decade later. I sincerely hope Elaine never has to rely on a medical professional who treats her dismissively when she is desperately trying to protect her child. I don't harbor any animus toward Elaine, but accountability is part of atonement so I'm keeping my Yelp review up this time. I recently delivered my second baby with a different practice and the experience was cathartic although the birth did not go as planned. What mattered was not the birth, but that I had a midwife who treated me with dignity and cared immensely about my wellbeing. An absolute dream from start to finish. I can't recommend CPM enough. Long prenatal visits that were never rushed, all of my questions always answered. The birth was my dream labor. Never pushed to do things I didn't want to do, encouraged to be in positions that felt good, gentle guidance to make things easier, all of my wishes respected. It was the best day of my life to date. The postpartum support has also been incredible - they check in via text every few days and are always offering helpful advice and sometimes just validating my feelings. I feel like all three midwives are friends of mine now. I know I couldn't have found these personal relationships in a traditional OB office and I'm so happy with my choice. Actually I'm switching to them to do my annual gynecological visits now! We looked into other midwifery services, especially Oula and found this: CPM offers personal relationships that Oula simply cannot. Oula is backed by investors and is a startup. CPM is midwife run - they don't have investors to please and their service is based on what's best for their patients. ALSO with Oula, we didn't like that you will not necessarily know the midwife delivering your baby. With CPM, we got to know all three midwives throughout our pregnancy so by the time we delivered, we knew all three very well. I wish that everyone could *love* their pregnancy and birth team as much as I loved mine. The Central Park Midwives have a model of care which is both evidence based, and holistic. Not only did I feel total trust in their clinical expertise throughout my pregnancy, during each visit they brought up questions I didn't even know to ask, and made sure I felt equipped with the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices (or feel comfortable with the things we don't always get to choose!) Central Park Midwifery is an absolutely wonderful midwifery practice. The support and care Christina, Jenna and Elaine provided me in my pregnancies is the best I have ever encountered (and I have had experience with two other Manhattan-based hospital midwifery groups, both of which were really good but unfortunately have been disbanded). I moved to Central Park Midwifery somewhat late into my second pregnancy when the hospital where I was planning to deliver stopped offering midwifery-led care. I then subsequently had my third baby with the support of Central Park Midwifery. Elaine, Christina and Jenna took so much time with me at each appointment, answering all of my questions and making sure I was supported and nurtured. I wasn't a first time parent so I probably didn't have the same amount of questions or need for information as some other birthing people but I did have particular concerns and issues that I wanted to discuss in light of my prior birthing experiences. Each of Christina, Jenna and Elaine tailored their care and our discussions to exactly my circumstances: I always felt like they were responding precisely to my unique needs and wants and were invested in my pregnancy and birth experience. They gave me really practical steps for things I could do to increase the likelihood of having natural births in a hospital setting and minimise the chance that circumstances would arise needing medical intervention. They also gave me thoughtful, effective guidance throughout the postpartum experience to ensure my physical recovery and mental health. All of my births were really empowering experiences and I look back on each of them so fondly. I know it was the guidance and care of Central Park Midwifery that contributed to the memories of my latter two births being so positive. Christina was with me when I birthed my second child and she was an absolute superhero: she provided me with guidance, direction and calm in turn as I needed it and respected and advocated for my wishes at every step (beyond what I had experienced before). At first I was disappointed that Christina couldn't also be with me for the birth of my third child (Elaine was on shift when I went into labor) but I immediately realised that Elaine was the perfect partner for that birth journey. That particular birth had some dramatics but Elaine kept absolutely cool (and kept us cool), kept me informed and together we came up with new and revised plans as things changed. Her presence in the delivery room was so very helpful and her encouragement got me out of my head and focused my belief in myself even when my strength was waning. When my wife came to me and told me that she wanted to establish care with Central Park Midwifery, she thought I would be hesitant. She was not wrong - I did not fully understand what a midwifery could offer that an OB could not. Ultimately, I wanted to make sure my wife was comfortable, secure, and confident in her birthing team, so I agreed. Entrusting Central Park Midwifery was the best decision we could have made for my wife, my child, and myself. Before our most recent childbearing experience, my wife and I suffered a miscarriage. It was early in the pregnancy, but it did not minimize the pain that we felt and still continue to feel. The one shining light of that experience was that Elaine, Jenna, and Christina were there for us every step of the way. When we were fortunate enough to get pregnant again, they were always cognoscente of what we had been through and understood when we had extra concerns or worries. As the pregnancy progressed, I was constantly amazed at the level of care and communication that the midwives had directly with my wife. When we finally reached the end of the pregnancy, no one could prepare us for what we went through. Throughout the pregnancy, my wife constantly communicated that she was willing to do whatever was necessary to make sure our baby was delivered safely. The only thing she requested was that I would be by her side throughout. After 13 hours of labor, everything was progressing nicely. Then Elaine noticed that our baby's heartbeat was dropping. While she was explaining this to us, and possible reasons as to why, the rest of the hospital staff was preparing my wife for an emergency C-Section. No one can prepare you for seeing that many hospital staffers rushing to your wife's bedside. Elaine calmly explained what was happening and what was to happen next. She explained that my wife had to be brought to the operating room so that they could prepare her for the surgery. Ultimately, I would not be allowed in while this was happening. I was devastated. At the same time, they asked me to step outside the hospital room so that they could move her, and a flood of emotion came over me. I was brought to tears. I could not adhere to the one request that my wife asked of me in her birth preferences. Elaine immediately noticed my fear and sadness (even through masking!). She told me to take a few deep breaths and know that the doctors were just prepping my wife, and that I'd be able to be by her side when our baby came into the world. While I just briefly described how Elaine helped me, words could never do enough justice to fully articulate how helpful and calming she was in what were the most traumatic minutes of my life. I cannot thank Central Park Midwifery enough for all their help, love, and support they showed my wife, myself, and our baby! He is doing incredible and is the absolute light of our lives! We delivered our baby girl with Chloe and Elaine in December. There aren't enough words in the English language for me to express strongly enough how amazing our experience was with Central Park Midwifery. From prenatal, to delivery, to postnatal the care was professional with a loving touch! The experience they have in delivering babies was so clear to us particularly in the hospital where we had a some complications- high blood pressure, induction, baby's heart rate dropped - everything was dealt with so calmly that we felt 100% trust in Elaine and Chloe. I am so happy to have had Central Park Midwifery throughout all stages of my pregnancy journey and recommend them with the highest regards! All three midwives are truly wonderful and I am forever grateful for each of them. After much researching and interviewing, I found CPM when we were trying to conceive. Elaine was the first midwife I interacted with, thoroughly answered my laundry-list of questions, and immediately made me feel that I was in trusted hands right from the start! At appointments, I was always seen quickly (I often times arrived early and never waited long), never felt rushed, and always received prompt follow-ups. Communication between appointments was very simple and it was comforting to know they were easily accessible if I needed anything. When it was go-time, I happened to be admitted on one of the busiest days/nights the hospital had seen in months and was unable to use the Birthing Center at Mount Sinai as we hoped. Despite this, Chloe still made sure we could have as close to this experience as possible (which was great!) and was a rockstar throughout my very long labor and delivery, going above and beyond the entire time. Chloe is amazing. We met with her last week for our preconception visit and she was so down to earth, informative, and explained everything to us as potential new parents in the upcoming months. We met with another midwife and new right away their practice wasn't for us, but after Chloe we felt CPM is home. Chloe provided us with a wealth of knowledge as we try to conceive in the next few months. She spent over an hour discussing various topics and making us feel at ease and answered all of our questions. She also sent a follow up email with useful information (such as a recap of our conversation, to dos, vitamins, herbs, chiropractors and acupuncturists etc). I had the most compassionate, skilled, competent, affirming, loving care from Elaine, Christina, and Jenna! They were always patient with my many questions and emails. All three midwives, and Maddie and Maggie and Neelu, were sensitive to my needs as a queer fat person and I appreciated not having to worry that I would get inappropriate care or advice. I had three (minor but important) medical issues arise during pregnancy and I was never made to feel like my worries were too much or unreasonable. At the same time, they didn't make the complications into a huge deal and were always level-headed and optimistic. When I had signs of early labor at 33 weeks, Elaine was the perfect combination of calm and serious. At her advice we went to the nearest hospital and with fluids, miraculously, my labor stopped. Baby came at 37 weeks and I had an incredibly empowering birth. Even though it didn't go according to plan, I am so satisfied with the birth experience and proud of myself, and would not have had such a positive experience without Elaine there. Because of a really negative experience recovering from surgery several years ago, I was very worried about having a cesarean. A c-section is a fine way to give birth, I just have trauma from recovering from surgery and I was afraid of the recovery process (not the c-section itself). Elaine, Christina, and Jenna really understood that and were patient with how often I brought it up. They were always reassuring that I would be able to have a vaginal delivery, and I did! After the birth they checked in on me so often, and even three months later they still check in. I love them all so much. My only regret when thinking about Central Park Midwifery is that I didn't choose them sooner! I started my prenatal care with an OB-Gyn, and made the switch early in my second trimester. In 2019 I was pregnant with my first child, and was very nervous. The midwives at CPM provided my baby and I with the highest quality prenatal care, and always took their time when discussing treatments, diagnostics and results. Any time I had a question, they would respond promptly by email or phone call, and all of my concerns were addressed thoroughly. When the big day came, I was able to spend a lot of time laboring in the comfort of my own home, while remaining in contact with Christina the midwife via calls and text. She supported me through every minute of labor remotely, and never left my side once we reached the hospital. Christina was encouraging and even showed my husband several ways to help lessen my discomfort during contractions. I was able to have the drug-free, intervention-free birth of my dreams. I choose Central Park Midwifery for my pregnancy. Being it's my 1st baby I wanted personal approach but with access to top medical help for delivery. That's what I exactly got. Jo, Chloe & Elaine are amazing. I never had to wait much for my appointments plus they always were there to help me just one email away. They are organized, professional but friendly at a same time. Jo did my delivery and I can't ask for more as she understood me plus made my labor & delivery comfortable. They are affiliated with Mt.Sinai west and really had amazing experience with them as well. Where do I start! I am 3 months post-partum and wanted to wait until I was out of the tired fog to really give this review the attention it deserves. Jenna, Christina, Elaine and Megan have all been so amazing. They are warm, loving human beings made for brining little ones into the world and taking care of us mamas. They take their time getting to know not just you but also your family - especially important in these pandemic times to be able to connect so closely with them and feel intimacy when we're all wearing masks. They even FaceTimed with my older son (3 at the time) to answer his questions and help me with a bit of parenting when he needed to hear answers from a doctor because my word wasn't good enough lol. Their office is cozy and appointments are unhurried but I never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. They helped me with my forms for work, worked with my insurance and focused squarely on me and my needs. They gave my every option, were completely without judgment, listened to my concerns, brought up things that I didn't even think about and really made me feel heard and cared for. I was able to reach them when ever I had questions. They have great recommendations when I wanted to move labor along and were there for me advising when it was time to go to the hospital. They endured my gross pictures like all was completely normal. Christina was at the hospital before we even got there and shepherded is through a busy hospital system with our needs like the true advocate she was. So happy to have gone through birth with her, cheering me on and helping my husband comfort me. She expertly delivered my baby boy who presented in a slightly complicated way with ease! Their follow up (all the midwives) was constant and attentive in a great way, always checking on how I was feeling, answering any questions I had, advising on how to proceed while healing. That was even more important in a time when one can feel very isolated than normal due to pandemic times. I think it was as a result of their attention and validation of my feelings that I was a happier mama during post partum this time around than my first go-round. I couldn't recommend CPM more! I have had birth class students praise Central Park Midwifery for years, so I don't know why it took me so long to switch to them for my GYN care (I think I just didn't realize they do well-woman GYN care until recently!). This week, I had my annual exam with Jo, and she couldn't have been more lovely. Gave me plenty of time and is a great listener. Hardly even noticed the exam/pap being done because of her great care, and also because we had such a nice talk throughout. The facility isn't anything fancy or spacious, but I don't mind that one bit. Was so nice to enter into an uncrowded waiting room, unlike most NYC OB offices. Central Park Midwifery is exactly the type of healthcare I'd been searching years for, but wasn't sure actually existed. From the start, they were welcoming and took such good care of me throughout my pregnancies. When my first one ended in a miscarriage, the care, support, kindness, and check-ins they provided were truly unmatched - and when I got pregnant again, they not only took care of me, but celebrated with me. They answered questions, were patient, and were so knowledgable. They made sure that I was fully informed on every decision that I had to make, helped me develop intuition about my body, and helped me make the best choices for myself and my baby. Although my birth experience ended in an unplanned C-Section, Elaine never left my side for a second and was such a support for both myself and my husband. And their care didn't stop postpartum - Christina visited me on the maternity floor, I received check-ins from everyone, and just felt so supported during this period of adjustment. My husband and I could not recommend Central Park Midwifery enough. We transferred into the practice half way through pregnancy with our first child after long wait times and minimal opportunity for questions/ education through my OB. Elaine, Jenna, and Christina (CPM's midwives) took care of the entire family- both myself and baby physically and the entire family mentally/ emotionally. They were always available for questions and provided incredibly helpful information throughout the pregnancy. They also identified and managed unexpected complications that arose at the end of the pregnancy. Our safety was always first priority, and I was impressed with the way the team consulted with physicians, coordinated additional testing, and managed our hospital stay. Our son's safe arrival and our positive birth experience despite complications and a dramatic change in anticipated plans can be attributed to their incredible clinical expertise and profound compassion for their patients. read more

My wife and I had Jo and Elaine deliver our daughter and we would highly recommend them to others looking for a midwife. We spent a lot of time searching for the right practitioners to help us have the natural birth we wanted. At first, we were slightly nervous because they didn't have a strong online presence but after our initial meeting, which lasted an hour and a half (!), we instantly knew we found the right team. At each visit, they thoroughly addressed all concerns and we never waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room. Their approach is measured and professional while being completely compassionate and caring. We were so impressed that they returned our calls and e-mails very promptly, sometimes within minutes even though it was after office hours. Jo attended our birth and was extremely attentive and willing to try many different ways to manage pain without medical intervention. She advocated for us and made sure she was there to monitor rather than having the nurses follow the standard procedure of care. The amount of time they spent with us during labor is almost unheard of in modern healthcare today. After we got home, they checked in daily to see how things were going and helped us with initial problems we were having with breastfeeding. Jo and Elaine continue to serve as a resource and we are grateful for their support. They are by far the most caring and involved healthcare providers you will find for your prenatal, birth, and postpartum care. read more

Posted by my husband because I don't have a yelp account. I cannot say enough about the CPM team: Elaine, Chloë, and Christina. I attribute the calm I felt during my pregnancy to the fact that I started working with the midwives right away. I felt like I was going through a natural process, rather than a medicalized one. They spent time listening to me and answering any questions at the beginning of each visit. I never felt rushed, and always respected. They are practical, and I felt comfortable knowing that they would advise me of my options, and what they'd recommend, always with the safety of me and my baby in mind. And during delivery, I felt supported and empowered. I knew I was in good hands, and Christina let me take my time and follow my body. What I was most surprised by, though, was the level of postpartum care. This is where I didn't realize I'd need support, and where having them texting me to check in, and available by email to answer a lot of "is this normal?" emails was incredibly valuable. I would've felt so much more stressed and isolated without their guidance and support. I've decided I'll continue with them for my regular gynecological care. They are worth every single out-of-network penny and then some. read more

I've never had an experience in a medical setting anything like CPM. The midwives are all highly skilled and kind, but what's really remarkable is how accessible they are by text and by email, and how much they care about their clients, reaching out even in the weeks after the birth to check in on my postpartum mental and physical state. They saw me through two pregnancies losses, one full term pregnancy, and a birth, and throughout I felt so incredibly lucky to have care which centered my having the healthiest physical and mental journey possible. I wish I could give more stars!! I am writing this 2 days after the perfect delivery of my second child. They ladies at CPM are so wonderful, I (almost) want to have another just so I can be their patient again!!!! They provide personalized, attentive care throughout the pregnancy. When it's showtime, the calming yet incredibly confident and capable demeanor just put me at ease. Chloe ensured I had the birth I wanted and stuck around until it was time for me to be transferred. Her positivity really helped me through the rough parts. Elaine's visit the next day (during a point I was feeling particularly overwhelmed) was a bright point in the day. I felt empowered and loved throughout my experience - the midwives educated me every step of the way and encouraged me to make decisions that felt right for me and my baby. When I felt stuck or uncertain, they provided more information and talked me through choices until I felt comfortable. And I felt so loved! I felt like I was in the safest hands, so taken care of the entire time and never judged for any decision. They walked me through every single tiny step, so that I had all the knowledge I needed and I never felt rushed. They were so supportive, I felt I could reach out any time and they always got back to me immediately regardless of the day or time. During my labor, Elaine was incredible. So calm, so supportive, so encouraging. I felt heard and respected throughout the entire journey. And even after the birth of my daughter they continued to check in and show support. Had the best experience imaginable during pregnancy and birth. Elaine and Jo are thorough, thoughtful, and overall amazing.

I knew I wanted to have midwives manage my pregnancy and I'm so pleased we were recommended CPM. The midwives (Jenna, Christina & Elaine) are extremely knowledgeable, caring, and thorough. Even their receptionist Megan is great. They gave me a huge amount of time & support all the way through my pregnancy and postpartum. While some appointments are necessarily in-person, they also do appointments via Zoom, and you can contact them via text, phone, and email too. I ended up having a few complications and had to be induced, but the wonderful Jenna & Elaine stayed with us every step of the way for the 36 hours of labor explaining every process and step, and what the plan was with each new development. I'm convinced if I'd been with a regular OB that had less time to give me I'd have ended up with a C-Section (no shade intended at C-Section moms - birth is birth! - I was just really hoping to have a vaginal birth). Their holistic family-centered approach is what I feel all pregnancy/birth/postpartum care should be. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I can't say enough good things about Central Park Midwifery. I saw them for prenatal care and the delivery of my son, my first pregnancy. I didn't know very much about midwifery care and had originally scheduled an appointment with a highly regarded OB. After speaking with Jo on the phone I immediately felt so comfortable that I knew it was a better choice for me. As my pregnancy progressed, I was so so happy with my decision! I felt supported and well taken care of throughout my entire pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. Appointments almost always ran on time or were just a short wait, and Jo and Elaine always took time to discuss anything and everything during each visit. I never felt rushed and I could tell that they were truly interested in getting to know my husband and I and do whatever they could to support us. Communicating with them outside of appointments was also super easy. I primarily used email since it was easiest for me during the work day and I always received fast, thorough responses to any concerns or questions. Working with Jo and Elaine allowed me to have the birth experience that I wanted, an unmedicated birth at the Mt. Sinai West Birth Center. Elaine was on call and saw me through almost three hours of pushing. She was so calm and encouraging and helped me find different positions to increase progress, including squatting when she was literally lying on the floor using her as a flashlight to see what was going on. I'll never forget that! I'm so grateful for the excellent care I received, and I often think about how different it could have been somewhere else. Being pregnant can be such a vulnerable time, it's so important to have a care provider that you can trust. What an absolute pleasure to have CPW for my preconception and pregnancy care. Appointments were never rushed and I was encouraged to ask all the questions I needed to. I felt that I got to know Christina, Elaine, and Jenna well enough that I would have looked forward to any of them helping me deliver, and Megan the office manager is great to work with. I ended up having a c-section due to my baby's position, and it was so much less daunting to go through it with CPW by my side. Christina was on call and stayed with me through the whole process, including being right by my side in the operating room and talking me through it. The postpartum follow up was also personable and really helpful as I went through the first several weeks of newborn adjustments. I always felt respected and that my choices and preferences were supported. The midwives are willing to talk you through any part of the pregnancy process and share resources to support their evidence-based approach. I felt like we were truly a team, rather than feeling like I had to advocate for myself just to be heard (like I have with some medical professionals in the past). I also felt my care was trauma-informed as I disclosed some past experiences and Christina always went above and beyond to talk me through any procedures that could have been triggering.
