    Bouldering.

I am a member of the Worcester branch and CRG is probably the best climbing gym chain I have seen. However, the Cambridge unit feels a bit dated. Carpets and crash pads aren't to the same standard as some of the newer units. Bathroom is also a bit of a labyrinth. The routes in the gym are amazing! Definitely recommend giving it a try.

I love this gym but the lights really bother me. The staff are really friendly as are all the climbers!

Best rock climbing gym in the world. Exemplary customer service and unbelievable setting. I would move here if it was an option.

Probably the largest central rock gym in Boston, this location in Alewife is known for its more challenging climbs.

As the ClassPass confirmation did not come with instructions, I had a wait until someone who had access could let me in. There is the option to ring the door bell, but no one responded despite pressing the bell many times. While I waited a couple of people gave up and left. Thankfully someone who has access let me through. You then have to go upstairs. As soon as you enter you're hit with humidity and stuffiness. The gym definitely requires better ventilation. It was very busy. There was no one at the front desk to check me in. This was my first time at this location, but I'd been to another branch before so I knew someone is supposed to check me in, sign waivers, get shoes. While I navigated to the shoe area, I finally found someone that worked there. Got my waiver cleared. I was not given any intro or orientation, thankfully I was climbing with someone who knew what they were doing. Overall, neat to have a climbing gym in Harvard square. However horrible customer service, especially the lack of instructions. They do have a lot more area to climb than I expected and have communal chalk, some weights and a few cardio machines. I also heard from another member that they offer yoga classes.

Wow-wee. I've been taking most of my yoga classes at Yoga Six in Wellesley but was looking for…read moresomething a tad hotter. The C2 class made me look like I had climbed out of a swimming pool afterwards. Not for the faint of heart (literally) but that was my fault - I should've started with the C1 class, which is less heated and slower-paced. PRE-CLASS: It was my first time doing CorePower and, I don't know, I was expecting a little more of an introduction/explanation when I checked in. Maybe I'm spoiled by the OrangeTheory introduction when the instructor walked me through everything and took the time to go over where everything was. Here, all I was told was that we'd be in studio __. I wandered around aimlessly and found the lockers, with signs saying locks were available at the front desk. It would've been nice to know that upfront but c'est la vie. Trying to be more zen in the new year. CLASS: Hot, hot, hot. Inga cranked the heat/humidity all the way up. I was a literal puddle about five minutes in. As a newcomer to CPY (but not to yoga), I got a lot of the cues mixed up; this is a studio-by-studio and teacher-by-teacher distinction but hearing the poses called by their names (instead of "crescent lunge with right foot back") took a while getting used to. Also, the playlist wasn't ... great. Some love ballads mixed with hard rock. Just give me the elevator violin music or nothing at all. The flow for the class was quick and fast-moving, with lots of one-legged variations, and you are encouraged to take breaks but the break itself was so short before the teacher would move on. It got so hot at one point that I seriously contemplated leaving the room. Bring plenty of water and one extra towel. POST-CLASS THOUGHTS: The studio itself felt cramped; the class was only about half-full but I'm not sure a packed sardine-type class would be enjoyable with so much sweat pouring out of every orifice. I did wish that, for savasana (aka, my favorite pose), the temperature could be turned down several notches. Or CPY could offer cold hand towels after (sorry, spoiled by Yoga Six). Also - there is definitely a sweaty funky smell. Like 8/10 on a scale of funkiness. Unescapable and inevitable, for sure. Sorry to keep drawing comparisons but one of the features that I like a lot about Yoga Six is that there, the ventilation seems much better. Parking: Abundant, free parking. This is probably what's going to make me come to the Fresh Pond CPY location over the other ones in Boston or Cambridge.

WOW, this studio is huge and beautiful! Definitely the nicest one in MA…read more It's so spacious, there are 2 floors. The bathrooms are super clean (feels like a hotel bathroom, to be honest), tons of stalls and shower stalls and the drinking water fountain is fast/cool. Only thing is it's not the most public transport friendly unlike other CPY studios, it took me like ~15 ish mins to walk from Alewife station. There IS Parking though.

Over the last 15 years I have been coming to the studio on & off. Life has been kicking my ass as it has most of us since 2020 & this past summer I reached my healing warrior limit & realized that I had done much work on healing my emotional & mental wounds, but not physical ones. I had no idea what to except when I started this training, but let me tell you it has exceeded my expectations. Be In Union is just that. It is a powerful community space to Be In Union with yourself & others in the community who we share more in common with than we realize. I always just "did yoga". After these 3 months I now understand what it means to have a practice. I highly recommend taking the ride to this sacred, energetic space to take classes. Know that you can show up as your are, even if you simply made it on the mat & lay there for yourself. The Yoga Teacher training was truly life changing for me. My intention was never to be a teacher, I simply wanted to get back in touch with & heal my body. I am grateful that I am now part of this community I never knew I really had, yet have been part of for 15 years. Goes to show how if we push ourselves past our comfort zones things "we never imagined" are possible. This teacher training was one of the best investments that I have made in myself.

I had never heard of hyphen before and am always jazzed to meet a new local spot! The November Project is a nonprofit that aims to make fitness accessible regardless of any barriers. They exist in 49 cities (sadly not Cleveland, though) with communities offering connection and free fitness classes, from yoga to HIIT, I believe. From what I observed, they want to help people overcome any skepticism or fears they have about fitness (whether financially or physically). They want fitness to be accessible to all communities. The instructor had so much charisma. I was so fascinated to learn about this super cool nonprofit that is trying to make fitness something attainable for everyone. The instructors class was a bit out of my range of motion but it was high-energy and exciting. I hope if November Project exists in your city that you'll look into them. It's free, interesting, and they are working hard to create a community of inspiring, inclusive and positive people. I wish we had an active chapter in Cleveland!
