So I wanted to write a review that would really help someone like me who wanted a review that gave them an opinion that seemed fair and honest and not supper one sided... With that being said Payless was no where near the top of my list when I started my first venture of buying a car, in fact it was my last stop. I had looked at what seemed like 100 diffrent lots, every one of them promising me a good deal and that my not so pretty credit wouldn't be a problem...needless to say I was fed up with all the false advertisment that seemed to come along with buying a car. On the day I stopped at Payless I had been to several lots that day and was going to go home but I had printed out some info on a car they had that looked like it might work, so I decided to go to Payless on the off chance they could have my car. I was immediately greeted by Daniel Martinez and when I enquired about the car I had the print out for he regretfully informed me that he literally just sold it. My heart sank I was done with this whole car buying business, I turned to leave and Daniel stopped me and asked "why that car?" I let him know because it fit what I was looking for so hes asked what that was and I went into the speech I had rattled off 100 times to my different car salesmen... Daniel listen and gave me an answer no one else was able to... The answer was the cold hard truth and the reality of what my situation could afford me.... I originally was looking at a 03' jetta Daniel got me a 2011 KIA for a better price and APR then anyone offered me.... And the KIA was the newest car I looked at!!! I fell in love with the car and was so happy that is until 3 days in the check engine light came on and my heart sank again... The only thing I could think was great I got what I didn't want a lemon! I took the car right to Payless.... Daniel was out on a test drive but the other guys there quickly got me to service where they found out I needed a new catalytic converter they let me know that I should take the car to KIA as it was a manufacture part that they would fix for free since the car was under 100,000 miles. This made me slightly upset but if it was going to get fixed that's all that mattered. So instead of driving to KIA in Manteca I called first to make sure they had time... They were so rude (that's another review I should write) so I went back into service and let them know the mechanic for Payless Chris said not to worry about it he would take care of it. They had me sit down for a few minutes then Eric from Payless brought me keys to a rental car and said not to worry my car would he fixed and I could drive the rental until then (the rental was an amazing 2012 Ford fussion). A few days later I got a call that my car was done and it was perfect! I'm so happy that Payless is where I purchased my first car everyone from their sales team to their finance team to their service department is so helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make sure their customers are happy and most of all well informed. My wife and I purchased a 2006 Ford F-150 XLT and Brandon was very helpful and explained everything and made the whole process easy. Also the finance department was great also crunching numbers and getting the deal to materialized. There was a Crack in the windshield but Brandon set up an appointment to get it replaced. I'm toward the end of the Volkswagen "Clean Diesel" emissions control mess and I'm going to need a replacement. Since these two lots supposedly belong to the same people as the Volkswagen dealer, it will be convenient to return the car to the VW dealer and shop the two lots. I spent some time at the lot next to the VW/Hyundai dealer and no one came to see me. That's odd. I've been to car lots where I would only be halfway out of my car and someone would be there to greet me. In any case, prices are clearly marked. Some of the cars are previous rentals, so they should have had all scheduled maintenance. They list which cars were rentals on the web site but not on the price listing. The other lot, next to the Nissan and Dodge dealers is somewhat mixed with the new vehicles and it's a bit confusing what is used (excuse me, pre-owned) and what is new. On a previous visit, a salesperson was quite helpful. This time, a salesperson stared a me, as if to figure out whether I had money or not, and then, went about his business without a word to me. I really don't want to buy a car now, but the mess is forcing this. If the sales people don't want to bother, what incentive do I have to shop there? read more

I found it very affordable and coming from someone who has had trouble in the past with car dealerships I definitely do have to say I am very, very pleased with the experience I had there. I highly recommend this place especially if your looking for a fairly new reliable car at a great price. Also they personally help you with getting insured through Allstate which was a plus. If you a re looking for help Jessica , a sales consultant and Derris , the sales manager are definitely the people to go to, they work really hard for you which was a deal breaker. I was shopping for a used Subaru Forester and came across a good deal at Payless. Unfortunately I did not end up buying through this dealership, but i do not regret come here. My wife and I drove from walnut creek to modesto to check this place out. From the initial phone call, we were very impressed by the customer service from Martin, Chris and the entire staff. All staff were very kind, honest, courteous, and helpful. Martin and Chris went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and help us to find a good fit...even explained some of the ins and outs of the car sales business. I told her what I wanted and by Sunday she had three cars picked out for me in my price range. Within in a few hours I was on my way with a new car. I drove in from Rocklin, CA to view a preowned Audi A6. Chris and the staff were very respectful and friendly. I loved the car except the color of interior was too light for my interest. Since they recently acquired this car, they didn't have an opportunity to have it detailed. Chris arranged to have the inside thoroughly cleaned and followed up with me with multiple photos. In that time, I found a different A6 I purchased (from a different dealer) and passed on car from Payless. Still, I felt it was appropriate to post a review. This place hands down is the best place to buy a vehicle. When I arrived I was greeted by Martin who was beyond helpful and very kind. I hate it when car sales people are out for blood and try and intimidate you. Here that was definitely not the case. He didn't follow me around he gave me my space and answered all of my questions when needed. After leaving to look at more options I was still in contact with Martin and his manager Chris who was also extremely helpful. Once I decided to return to buy the car both of them went above and beyond with helping me. My bank made a huge mistake by saying my cosigner did not need to be there. The manager decided to send a car out to the cosigner to sign the paperwork which was about 55 miles! He also set me up with fantastic insurance. Plus the dealership forgot to order the rear headseats, which once again Chris saved the day and said they would pay for it and ship them to my house so I wouldn't have to drive back out. I was there for a long time but it really didn't matter because everyone was so polite and awesome I felt like practically family when I left. I highly recommend coming to this establishment if you're looking for a car. Everyone is so nice and they really do care about which car works for you and you budget. I think every dealership needs to be trained by the team they have here because no other dealership even comes close in customer service and knowledge of their product. read more

I purchase a vehicle from this lot and my experience from the moment I stepped on the lot was awesome! The sales lady Betty was extremely informative and was not pushy in any way. I had done a ton of research on the vehicle I was looking for so I was waiting to see if there was a sales pitch or inaccurate information but not so here. I thought Betty was caring and definitely tuned into what my needs were and gave me suggestions based on my personal situation. I haven't bought a newer car in quite some time but having Betty as my sales associate made the transition great. The lot has a good variety of cars and the prices are competitive as well.
