We hosted our night before wedding welcome party at Central Wharf and it was absolutely great. You can reserve the second floor for private or semi-private events. They were really flexible in terms of pricing and the service was excellent. The bartenders were awesome. Specifically, Chris and Skip were really attentive and made sure our guests had a good time. The space is really cool and large enough where we had room to mingle. The food was surprisingly good too. We got a lot of compliments on it. read more

I will say I do like Central Wharf. I think it gets worse reviews than it deserves. It's very close to my office and I tend to gravitate there after work. What do I like? It's upscale enough that I can bring a client, but it's casual enough that I can kick back and have a few drinks on my own. I have never felt like I was in a sticky pub, but I have also never felt that I was in a snobby steakhouse. It's the perfect in between. Although nothing has been life changing, their food is definitely above average. I especially like their cobb salad, the BBQ chicken flatbread, and their fish tacos. The best part of Central Wharf? Each time I've been there they have poured the drinks nice and strong. Since drinks in Boston are not cheap, it definitely is a draw to keep me coming back. read more

I went last night to a private event in the upstairs. The food was fine, and the drinks reasonably priced. This review is because of the inexplicably poor management decisions of Central Wharf. They knew that over 100 people would show up for the event (to watch a college football championship game), but they scheduled a single waitress. They should have also known that there was SantaCon going on in the region, but they scheduled a single waitress. The waitress was superb, but she was one person weaving through standing room-only space. She did well, but she was only one person. read more

Wings were very good, popcorn shrimp was good/average, strawberry salad was good, but didn't have much in terms of "toppings" (strawberries, goat cheese, etc). Substitution was made very agreeably, which I very much appreciate. (No mixed greens, just romaine) Again, service was very attentive & friendly, especially taking up a table with 2 kids during a playoff game. Prices on the kids menu are great... Was going out for a birthday party in Boston and needed to grab some dinner and drinks beforehand. This place seemed like the perfect balance of fun atmosphere yet decent food. The space is very large but broken out into separate areas so it still seemed cozy. Upon walking in, there is a bar area to the right, a dining room to the left and then additional seating upstairs. There was a St Patty's pub crawl filling up the bar area so we opted for the dining room seating on the left. The décor is lots of dark wood, brick and ocean/wharf/fishing like decorations. Our server was friendly but not the brightest. . . the drink orders never seemed to go to the right person at the table. The menu consists of the usual suspects at a bar: flatbreads, burgers, sandwiches and a couple other Boston staples such as Chowder and Fish & Chips. For our meal we ended up splitting a few of their flatbreads. They weren't anything that blew us away but nothing to complain about either. Their cocktail menu was actually very interesting and unexpected. I cannot recall the name of my drink (I think 917) but it was bourbon, ginger beer and honey. Great drink and highly recommend. I think it's a perfect spot to grab some drinks with friends, especially because of the space they have. read more

Really cool spot. A lot bigger than you would expect! They have a front bar, a bar in the back room, and an upstairs bar. The perfect place to have an event/ or work outing! The design of the restaurant is top notch! Food is pretty good, I love the calamari bruschetta, it is absolutely delicious. I didn't know what to expect when I ordered it, but its exactly how it sounds. Thick pieces of toasted bread, with perfectly cooked calamari on top, I definitely, definitely recommend you try this as an app- and its really big so you can share and will prob still have some left over. The windows right in the front of the dining area open up during the Summer which is awesome because its as good as if you were sitting at an outside patio. Definitely a fun spot to check out. Here on a Friday night. The two girls upstairs were bit aggressive! Felt like our group was being rushed out. Oh well during the time being , I was just chilling anyways! Till I went to the ladies room Walking through the dark dining area . I was with my girl , omg I had never witness a restaurant employee, emerges from the large stall and leaves without washing her hands.Dude that is so freaking gross! Clearly there was sign posted under the mirror by the sink area " all employee must wash hands before returning to work" I did not see her served on the 2nd level we were on so we laughed& joked about how gross she was . But seriously food handlers should always wash hands even after collecting the menus& bills& ESPECIALLY after the ladies room! This all matters because not washing hands spreads foodborne illness and infections. read more

Came here for a college football watch party, and I had a great time! I saw that some people were complaining about having only one waitress scheduled, but it didn't really mess up my night. She was AWESOME, by the way. We were ordering buckets of beer and some people in the bar kept taking them out while we weren't looking, and she was super great and gave us a couple extra in our next bucket. We ordered a couple of flatbreads and a salad along with our drinks, which were really good - esp the pulled pork, but I doubt I would stray far from the flatbreads. I would come here again to watch big games, but definitely get here early for a table with a view of the TVs. read more

The food is always pretty good here so this isn't a review on the food. Please, try it out! This is a commentary on what I perceived as lack of training (possibly). I have celiac so I eat gluten free. I asked the bartender if he knew what items could be gluten free. He didn't know which was completely fine but he went to find a server who did know (who happened to be his girlfriend). She was great. She knew exactly what items are gluten free and that all the sandwiches can be made on gluten free buns. Perfect! Finally I can eat more than just a salad! I was seated at the bar near the door and not more than 5 minutes later, a hostess who clearly was perturbed to even be there, greeted a party of 7. One person asked "do you have any gluten free food". The hostess said "no we don't....just salads" and the party of 7 left. So here's my question. Who do i believe? The person who pointed out plenty of items as gluten free or the person who said they don't have gluten free food? That's probably not a good sign that the hostess and servers have different information. I chose to believe the first person (the server) and it definitely was...gluten free. I recently had a private event at Central Wharf Co and the staff members were absolutely spectacular. Michaella helped us coordinate all aspects of our party and I can not say enough great things about her - she was patient and helped us work through any questions or concerns. Day of, she was there to help us and answer any questions we had! During the party, the staff tending to our friends and family were fabulous! We heard over and over again how wonderful and kind the bartender (Robbie) was and the men and women keeping the food stocked did such a fabulous job! This was a decent place. They aren't really great for children, and in fact they were kind of rude. I needed to change my son and there wasn't a changing station so I had to change him on the floor. Not ideal. However the meal was decent. The fries were crispy and delicious. I had a veggie burger which was flavorful but a bit dry. The bun was huge and didn't deliver. My girlfriends all brought their kids and they had a variety of dishes: fish & chips, another veggie burger and a real burger. Across the board everything was good but not excellent. We had a large group, and were having drinks by the water and decided to make moves to get some food. Walking in on a Friday night with 10 people, I was surprised but excited to be seated right away. With first impression, I loved the decor, and kept commenting how the "vibe" was just right. It just had a good vibe. It was nautical, authentic... and had a nightlife feel. It had lots of wood, but also the coolest lamps that I have never seen before. And a big "SALTY" sign... which is just awesome. I am not sure what they were getting at, but it made for a fun environment. You felt like you could eat good food, and have a classy drink there. We sat at the most beautiful long wooden table, and had a backroom mostly to ourselves. The food all looked amazing, and it caused me a lot of anxiety to decide what to order. Pizza ? Seafood? Salad? They are known for their seafood, but I wasn't that hungry for a huge meal. I decided to go for the pizza, with an excuse to come back and try the seafood. The pizza was excellent, and all the other food looked amazing. Our server was funny and fast, and I credit him for putting up with our group. After the meal, we went upstairs to a chic bar, with not the feel of downstairs but it felt like a true bar in the middle of the city... which it is. It had great music, and room for dancing. This is a great spot to stop for lunch or dinner. I like to come here for lunch sometimes because it's close to my office and they are quick. It's never super packed during the typical lunch hours but I'd make a reservation just in case. If you like fish, I'd recommend any of their salmon dishes. New place near my office. I went in with a co-worker for dinner after working late one night. We both opted for the Statler chicken and were very happy. It was stuffed with cheese and spinach and it was surprisingly good. I told my waitress I was on a schedule, as I had to make a train, and she was very gracious about getting my food to me quickly. My chicken cost $16 and it was well worth it. The presentation was nice and it tasted great. It wasn't particularly busy there, there was a mostly male clientele eating after work. The atmosphere is nice. They seem to have lots of seafood options, too. I believe they were getting ready to have a disc jockey start playing. I would definitely go back for the chicken. read more

What a gorgeous restaurant/bar. About 18 friends and I settled into the top floor area and had two TVs to view the Pats/Ravens game. Our AMAZING server (I wish I could remember her name.. I'm the worst) agreed to take orders by name and give everyone separate checks to keep it easier for us - she had zero complaints and was a total trooper and I can't tell you how much that meant to us. We were a loud, emotional, needy an hungry/thirsty bunch and everyone agreed we never had an empty glass or cold food in front of us. Great service, great beers and fantastic clam chowder. One of the best I've ever had, and I've tried them all. Many friends had flatbreads/burgers and I heard no complaints. Came here for drinks as I was walking near the harbor with my boyfriend. The food looked good, but we were just craving a nice craft cocktail. The drinks on the menu looked awesome, but unfortunately did not live up to their expectations. We both felt that the drinks were weak (not enough alcohol). The bartender did put an extra splash of whiskey in my boyfriend's drink, but I decided to just have mine as it was. We only stayed for that round and then left. The reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because the cocktails were only about $9 which is cheaper than usual and it is in a great, central location! read more

Came here for dinner before going to another beer event at a bar nearby. Met my wife there and it was absolutely empty after work at 6pm. I had the Wharf Chowder, which was surprisingly bland. Needed another flavor like garlic or even salt, but there were at least some decent chunks of seafood and vegetables in there. We split the Calamari Bruschetta, which was very tasty but could have used some more non-sundried tomatoes. It was presented in a weird way, with just a whole bunch of calamari dumped over one big piece of bread. The fried doughy crust on the squid was great. My wife got the black and bleu flatbread, which was delicious. Even the crust was garlic oil flavored and there were great-sized bites of steak scattered about. And I'm a sucker for anything with blue cheese on it. The beer selection is actually even better than at their sister restaurant The Granary. Tank 7 on tap! Yes! read more

We stopped in on a cold and very wet Sunday in June. After a long day of walking and sightseeing the menu looked promising, and the prices looked decent. The $5 kids meals won me over. We were a party of four including two kids. The ambiance was lovely-nautical, a little vintage, and a lot of polish. TVs were displayed throughout the restaurant, so it had a local pub feel. (Red Sox were playing while we were there.) Service was really great. They took care of our every need when we asked. Unfortunately it looked like only one server was on duty so the manager (I think) and host were both fielding requests from guests as well. Everyone did a great job and was very friendly. All the other diners seemed well cared for as well. I have a pretty restrictive diet so was pleased they were able to make a meal to my (somewhat annoying) specifications (no cheese, different dressing). I ordered the cobb salad with chicken which was good, but needed some pepper for flavor. Alas it would have probably been better with the creamy bacon dressing. I also ordered a local cider which was delicious. My husband ordered the pear and walnut salad with steak. He loved it! The steak came as ordered, too. The kids both ordered burgers and fries (hey it is vacation after all) and LOVED the giant steak fries. They both said the burgers were a bit too burnt on the outside, but they're kids. They ate most of them anyway. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Has a lovely bar area which looked like a great spot for locals and tourists to hang out. I walked in on a Saturday night, looking for a spot for semi-late dinner and a couple of glasses of rose. As I was alone I grabbed a seat near the window, that allowed me a bit of people watching as well as an opportunity to read a book while I sat there. I ordered the garden nachos and a bottle(!) of rose. Service was pretty quick, although I only got a glass of rose - I thought the waiter might be keeping the rest cold. The nachos were nothing special, and I wouldn't recommend them, as they were a bit dull. When my glass was empty it took 15 minutes for the waiter to come by the table to take my order - same thing happened after the second glass, which was when I decided to go somewhere else to finish the night. Worst service ever!We came here for trivia night. We were meeting a bunch of friends who had been there for a little while. They had managed to order food, however it took us at least 20 minutes before we were acknowledged. The waitress finally stopped by, asked for my boyfriend's drink order and then was about to leave without taking mine. I had to flag her down just to give my first order! We then handed her two different cards for the tab which was apparently too much. I took back mine so she didnt get confused. She came back with the wrong drink for me. My other friend across the table had still not recieved his first drink that was ordered with his meal. He had already finished his meal and still didnt have a drink! When she came back with our drinks he told her the problem. She never in the 2.5 hours we were there, bring him that drink. She also never once came back to our table to take another drink order and she got my drink order wrong. Her name is Melanie, our tab that took us 30 minutes had her name on it. We ended up having to go up to the bar because we literally did not see our waitress more than 3 times in the 2.5 hours we were there! Ugh awful. The only reason we went was for bar trivia, which was great, and supported Planned Parenthood. I would never return here otherwise! read more

Central Wharf Co is a nice spot if you're looking for ambiance. I would describe it as a combination of a sports bar and a nice coastal bistro, so basically like an upscale sports bar with pretty good seafood options. It's not the best I've ever had, but I would most definitely come back with a small group of friends to share a few apps, a few chuckles here and there, and sling back a few adult beverages, to relax the muscles a little back. We had the TUNA POKE, EGGROLLS, and the TRIO DIP to start off with. They were pretty good, and I would have to say that the trio dip was the best out of the three. For the main course, I had to grab the CHATHAM COD AND CHIPS. I'm a big sucker for fish and chips and was not disappointed. The remoulade was unique, which certainly made the meal. If you get a chance to try the pickles, they are house made and are on the sour side. The drink options are great! They have a solid selection of mixed drinks and wide selection of beers. The atmosphere is definitely what pulls The entire experience together. Open bay windows, music, TVs, add a few good friends and you're set! They did a really great job on this place! Within a few weeks it was transformed from Jose McIntyre's into Central Wharf Co. The place looks great but beyond that the food is amazing! The Parmesan crusted cod is almost like a spin on fish and chips as it's cooked in olive oil in a skillet after being hand breaded and comes with homemade tartar sauce on the side. The fish is always perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and melts in your mouth. The dual lobster rolls for $18 is amazing and the seasoning definitely adds a nice twist to the traditional lobster roll without being "too much." The grilled hotdog bun is exactly what you want with this. Great summertime eating! The Ribeye is a must have. Perfectly cooked every time and rich with flavor. The Statler Chicken is a solid and delicious dish. Tastes comforting and homemade on mashed potatoes with a wonderful pan gravy. The spring roll appetizer with short rib really hit the spot for a quick snack. I think they may have changed this to chicken now. The Flatbreads are out of this world! The Margherita is one of the best Pizza's I've had flavor-wise. The dough is perfect with a flour taste and crispy but soft texture. The sauce is tangy and not too sweet and the cheese adds the saltiness and richness. It's all you want from a pizza. The Black and Blue is another favourite for something different with seared ribeye, Bleu Cheese, caramelized onion, and horseradish cream. Everything I've tried here has been a home run! They turned this place over from a high volume dollar draft college bar to a really nice restaurant that it a real contender with all the other great new spots in Boston. They kept a lot of the same staff from the old place so they have been going through training to get up to speed. It's been a huge change in a very short time so they are working out some kinks for sure. I give them 5 stars however because every dish I've had has been a home run and I've gotten to know the chefs who are doing a great job on this place. If I was in a new city checking out Yelp and I want a good meal I don't want to read reviewers trashing a place because the server didn't refill a water glass, or took too long with the check.. The food itself was pretty good, but we ordered drinks and appetizers for before our entree and everything got brought out at the same time after taking forever, which defeats the purpose of even getting an appetizer. Our waiter was nice, but didn't seem to know the food very well since I asked if there was celery in the lobster roll and he said no. When it came out there was and they were nice and replaced it, but I had to wait and watch my boyfriend eat his food while I waited for mine to be remade. Overall, the food was good and once it was remade mine was delicious but the overall experience was not good. read more

We had to wait an unacceptably long spell at every point during the order. I work in an Events Office at a local College and we hosted an alumni social at Central Wharf last week. I worked with Kayti, the Events Manager, had such a great experience. Kayti was super flexible and worked with the budget I had. She was able to secure me a semi private space and offered me a perfect menu for the evening. All of our alumni who attended had such a great time. Everything was delicious and staff was awesome. We will be working with Central Wharf again in the future.
