I love going here because they never fail to amaze me and they also take the safety of there customers very seriously. All of there food is amazing and so is the service. My favorite who brightens my day is Jackie she always has a smile on her face behind her mask. She never messes up my order and always makes my day. I also enjoy seeing Steph she is always very kind and i can tell she has a heart of gold. Who ever hired this two made a very great choice, So if you are looking for a deli place or even a place to go to get a smile this is the place. They are very affordable and very clean. First and hopefully only experience: they catered an event I attended. Meatball had a chunk of gristle the size of a large marble. Sausage was extremely seasoned, not for the average diner. String beans were small and dry, I like the small but they were withered. Since the only other option was a soggy Caesar salad, I left hungry. I realize it is must be hard to prepare and deliver food, but that's their business. SO disappointing. read more

The strip of shops on Brookline Blvd in Havertown is super convenient and the options are terrific! If you can't get street parking, there is a metered parking lot on the street. Which is great because you will want to get into Centrella's for meatballs and cutlets! They are a little on the expensive side but the meatballs and cutlets are top notch. They also have fresh bread delivered from Liscio's daily. In addition they have a full deli counter, make sandwiches to order, catering options, as well as a nice shop offering all of your Italian favorites. Heck, you can even buy a lottery ticket there. The service is very good for the most part. I find the staff pleasant and eager to assist. There was one instance where we were picking up a tray of meatballs for a party we were hosting and I grabbed an extra container of sauce. The woman behind the counter politely informed me that the tray came with plenty of sauce and I could do without it. Great to do business with honesty and integrity! read more

Originally from Southwest Philadelphia, where they slaughtered, plucked, prepared, seasoned, AND, Roasted Fresh Chickens. You could smell Centrella's, up and down Woodland Avenue. Chickens their main business. Kids would sneak a look at the slitting of the, still, live, chicken throats; chased out of the store with a decapitated head or two thrown their way; it was a Rite of Passing. That was over 50 years ago. Times, the neighborhood, and the way of doing business changed. Now, more deli, more grocery, with packaged goods to sell, Chicken Cages gone, the smell of chickens before and after slaughter not missed, no chicken heads? Always looking for Old World Pasta, Sandwiches with that something special, San Maranzano Tomatoes, Roast Beef w/au jus, Old Italian Deli Fare, all here; Testa's Bakery ( a few doors away) the reason why i was in the neighborhood, when the store's name caught me by surprise. I found out this was "THE" Southwest Philly Centrella's, I almost cried! I have to come back and i did, for awhile. It was closer than the Italian Market for some hard to get things that i did not want to surf the net for. After a while..... i noticed missing Centrella faces and quality of service, after reading a few reviews; i know why. Old Style, Italian Style, Ethnic Style Deli's are going by the way side, is this Centrella's, too? It is going in that direction. If they don't realize their faults and correct them soon...... As the smell of Centrella's chickens waiting to be slaughtered disappeared, so will Centrella's A pickle barrel does not a Deli make! read more

We got a mountain of meatballs and a stack of sausages, fresh bread and we were good to go! Delicious, fresh and yummy. They have great baked ziti and quarts of sauce, too. I love this place. They have the best meatballs in the world! Bold claim, right? How is any meatball different from any other meatball? Up until I had Centrella's meatballs, I felt the same way. Their meatballs, and sauce, are packed full of flavor and they don't overspice it (a common mistake). Their handmade chicken cutlets are the benchmark that I have yet to experience elsewhere (seriously, when will restaurants stop serving us frozen chicken cutlets?). I also love their italian hoagies. It's interesting because they use the same brand meats as everyone else yet their hoagies are far superior. I can't explain it. Also make sure you don't leave without some potato salad (handmade and not sweet like store bought garbage.) Finally, don't forget to grab a pickle from that pickle bin - YUMMY! read more

I believe in patronizing local businesses but all I do is buy eggs here now. John and Phyllis Centrella were the glue for Centrellas but then they retired. The customer service just isn't the same. I was always able to order rolls here and they would slice the roast that I cooked at home. The new establishment....I called and asked if they would slice my roast and I was told "sure"...They sliced it all right...and then charged me $5 which they neglected to tell me ahead of time. When I questioned the woman behind the counter I got a flip answer....customer service is not their strong suit. read more

I order off of Centrella's catering menu for a 40+ party and the food was delicious. The staff was helpful when ordering and offered some tips and suggestions. We ordered the roast beef, meatballs, ziti, caesar salad and a few sides salads. Everyone was very pleased with the food, quite a few people said it was the best they've had.
