Not only did he make sure my family and I had everything we needed before we rolled off the lot, he also gave me more ideas than I could have planned for while there. In addition to the Jeep rentals (which are super clean and bad @$$) they even offer guided tours, off road vehicle rentals (ATV's), and many other great services that were not initially listed on the site I found them on. They also blocked their office phone number for anyone outside the 406 area code, so Instead of getting a pick-up, I was stranded at the airport. * Very long customer service delay. * After the delay, I received a car without snow tires and otherwise totally inappropriate for the snowy environment. I had to return it. * On a later occasion, we were charged $2700 for a small dent incurred AFTER I had returned the car to their unattended lot. Enterprise's excuse was a term in a set of "terms and conditions" not provided to me. Although as a lawyer I know the term probably was unenforceable, Enterprise pursued me for a year, ignoring the questions I had about the claim. In sum, it was just a hold-up. I know from experience that other car rental companies do not act this way. Steer clear!

Beware! The owner is a man named Don. I called to arrange for a rental for 7/9/15 through…read more7/16/15. Don said he would have the car at the airport, in the public area on the night of 7/8 (when we were to arrive), with the keys above the visor and that he would meet my wife and I at our hotel the next morning to sign the papers. My instructions were to call upon arrival and he would identify the car. This sounded a bit odd but maybe that's the way a small business might do things in a smaller town, like Kalispell. On 7/8 I sent Don a text message with the details of our trip and asked for a confirmation which he did confirm. Our flight was 2 hours late so we arrived at 11:00 PM instead of 9:00 PM. I called Don's number several times but there was no answer. We took a taxi to our hotel, which cost $25.00. The next morning I called Don and he at first seemed a bit out of touch, expecting that we would be arriving the 9th instead of the 8th - so much for the confirmation, I thought to myself. He then went on to tell me how the car had been totaled and his office ransacked, he was having a horrible day, and that he would have to call me in a couple of hours to make arrangements. I told my wife this was beginning to sound like a Country Western song and I was uneasy with the whole thing. I asked the hotel manager what she knew of Practical Rent a Car and she knew nothing. More or less instinctively she called the number for the business and asked where they were located. Don answered and fired back the question "Why do you want to know!" to which she replied "because I have a couple who need a car" Much to our chagrin Don's response was something along the line "I don't appreciate you calling before normal business hours" and hung up. A couple of minutes later Don called me stating he did not appreciate me having somebody call and harass him and that I would have to find a rental somewhere else. My wife, the manager and I sort of looked at each other, a bit bemused, having to admit this something of a memorable incident. At that my wife and I took the opportunity to see some of Kalispell and walked to Enterprise Rentals on the other side of town. I have to give some sort of rating so I'll give Don and Practical Rent a Car one star for originality.

We needed a car for a day to drive to the Glacier National Park and after calling Hertz, Budget and Enterprise, this was the only place that had a car left. (It's peak season in July in Montana so make sure you book way in advance). I explained to the owner that my husband and I were staying in Whitefish and could take an Uber to Coram, where the car rental is located. I asked him if it was easy to get an Uber back to Whitefish after returning the car the same day (we rented the car for 5hrs and had to pay $110). He said he would give us a ride back into town for $25. Knowing we had a way back home, we felt safe to book a car with him. He asked us to give him a call when we get back from the Glacier National Park as his office will be closed by the time we get back. Living down the street, he said it wasn't a problem for him and he gave us his cell phone. We arrived at 6:15pm and called his cell. He picked up and was very confused with who was calling him (?!?!) and then said to park the car where we picked it up and to leave the key on the tire. We hung up and then I realized that he was supposed to give us a ride back to Whitefish as promised. I called him back twice and he didn't pick up/ignored our calls. Uber/Lyft was not available at that time but luckily, my husband and I found someone to get us to town. This company is a SCAM.

Admittedly, I'm used to large airports where you cruise past the desk, choose a car and go, but this is a smaller place obviously and they probably don't have the inventory to run like that. So yes, there was a bit of a line at the counter but the employees were so pleasant and the line moved quickly. The car they provided was amazing. really really nice. the return process involved checking in with someone at a kiosk outside. A couple in front of us were taking forever arguing about something so it held up the line. If they had two employees checking cars in it would probably be better.

I had a rental pickup in kalispell and drop off in Missoula, I 100% did not cancel my reservation, they had no more cars and told me I was out of luck. I had to rent through another company on same day which costed way more, and since I couldn't choose a different drop off location without it costing over 1000$. I had to drive 2 hours to missoula, rent a car in Missoula, have my brother drive the other car, then return the rental in kalispell, then drive back 2 hours to Missoula to catch the flight in Missoula. Thanks a lot Alamo, never ever renting from you or recommending you ever.
