Duc was our salesman and he was fantastic the finance manager was wonderful everyone catered to our every need when it comes to feeling good, and comfortable buying a car. They listened to what we wanted for a vehicle and the amenities, while keeping the price down as able. They were kind and personable and just knew their vehicles and people! It should give you a good feeling when you're getting a vehicle and there's like five other people getting a car at the same time-It goes to show that it wasn't just one salesman it was a lot of them.Their service department is amazing because they contact us when it's time for the car to come in and have an oil change or whatever service may be needed. Although again we can't say enough about Duc -so kind personable, and knowledgable. When you leave you genuinely feel like you can trust his word and the Kalispell Toyota stands by their product. That is so important to a buyer who is putting a lot of money into something; esp these days. Duc even calls us on our birthdays; I mean who does that! The Pre-Sale Disclosures & Negotiation During the test drive, the vehicle's visual condition was fully transparent: it had cosmetic wear, bent body panels, old/no-name/mismatched tires, aftermarket wheels, shaky brakes, and a convertible top that would not open. The salesperson explicitly stated they "checked the convertible top fuse and it was good," framing the roof issue as a minor, innocent electrical mystery. I negotiated a purchase price that fairly reflected the vehicle's cosmetic state and the assumption of a standard electrical repair for the roof. I willingly signed an "As-Is" agreement based entirely on those specific disclosures. 2. The Discovery of Mechanical Sabotage Upon taking the vehicle home and performing a professional, multi-hour manual teardown to diagnose the top, I discovered severe, undisclosed structural damage. The entire underlying roof assembly, linkages, bows, and hinges are physically bent and snapped beyond repair-requiring a $10,000 retail replacement. Furthermore, I discovered that the top's interior switch and hydraulic system had been deliberately disconnected. This was not normal wear-and-tear; the system was physically bypassed to prevent the roof from moving, which actively concealed the twisted and broken structural metal frame from being discovered during a standard pre-purchase inspection. 3. Unjust Enrichment and the Arbitration When I confronted the dealership with the diagnostic photos of the bent and broken frame, hinges and linkages, they admitted they already had an active wholesale arbitration case open with the selling agent regarding this vehicle's defects -a critical piece of legal and mechanical history they actively withheld from me during the sales process. The dealership then requested my personal diagnostic photos to submit to the auction. They successfully used my labor to secure a $1,500 payout from the auction to make themselves whole. However, when it came to resolving the issue with me, they attempted to pocket the auction money, hide behind Montana's "As-Is" laws to protect their profit, and refused to provide a fair retail remedy to fix the $5,000 structural deficit they delivered. When I requested a fair retail remedy to fix the $5,000 structural deficit (using my own labor and a used salvaged roof), the dealer retaliated by rescinding all offers entirely. They are now pocketing the auction's $1,500 payout-money they only received because of my diagnostic labor-and leaving me completely empty-handed with a broken car. Conclusion An "As-Is" clause is designed to protect a dealership from unknown mechanical wear; it is not a legal license to misrepresent a vehicle's history, hide active legal disputes, or sell a vehicle with a bypassed, structurally compromised frame. Because the dealership has refused to provide a fair settlement to make this vehicle whole, formal complaints for material misrepresentation and deceptive business practices have been filed with the Montana Department of Justice Office of Consumer Protection and the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) Dealer Licensing Bureau. Buyer beware.

The vehicle continued making the same noises we initially brought it in for only louder and is now accompanied by a burning smell. When we returned to address the unresolved problem, we were informed that an additional part (a water pump) would need to be replaced at extra cost. This was confusing and frustrating, as the initial diagnostic failed to identify what now appears to be the actual issue. We were asked to pay again despite the concern we originally brought the vehicle in for never being corrected. We requested and retained the original parts that were replaced and later had them inspected by an individual who previously worked at Ford as both a mechanic and service writer. We were advised those parts appeared functional and should not have required replacement. Based on this, we believe the service department should take accountability for the incomplete diagnosis and cover the repair related to the water pump, which should have been identified during the original visit. Our concern has never been about avoiding payment, but about accountability for an incorrect or incomplete diagnosis that resulted in unnecessary expense, lost time, and nearly two weeks without reliable transportation. Unfortunately, communication during our visit became unprofessional. A staff member walked away from the discussion, and assistant management refused our request to escalate the concern to higher leadership or ownership. They also told us that the service director/manager was gone the whole week to Arizona even though we we supposed to have a meeting with him to come to a resolution. When we picked up my vehicle today, the service director/manager was back, so they told us false information so we couldn't discuss with their supervisors or owner. We were also told that if the dealership chose to cover the repair that was the actual issue, they may refuse to work on our vehicle in the future simply because we questioned the situation. We asked only for transparency, an explanation of the failed repair, and a fair resolution. Instead, we were met with defensiveness and dismissal from the service department. At this point, we cannot recommend this dealership due to poor customer service, lack of accountability, and unwillingness to properly address an unresolved repair concern. At this point, yes after the discussion with the service department, they are now doing my water pump fix which should been resolved in the first place but I'm glad they are doing it now but I am not pleased that the lady at the service desk said "well if we do this, then we are parting ways and no longer will work on your vehicle in the future". Simply because I mentioned facts that she told me were "your opinions" on what has happened, the incomplete diagnostic, that I was charged over $1200 for something that wasn't the issue in the first place. The service department needs to be investigated. They also deleted my review so I had to post this again.

My wife and my…read moreexperience there has been very negative, and our personal recommendation would be for a consumer to avoid buying a car there at all. If, however, you are purchasing there, be extremely careful about what car you are actually purchasing. The owner, Tom Wambeke ,was misleading about the 2000 Outback we purchased. He informed us that it was a one-owner car from California, when, in fact, the Carfax showed that it had 3 owners, was in a wreck, and was from the east coast. He also informed us that the mechanics who share his building (Harmony Motors, who also happen to be related to Mr. Wambeke) had inspected the car and given their recommendation that it was in good condition. He told us that his Carfax subscription was up, and that we would have to get one ourselves. Although we regret it now, we waited to purchase a carfax, and in retrospect, wonder if he knew what it said and didn't want to show it to us if he could help it. After the purchase, we quickly found there was a transmission that needed immediate repair, a major leak in the exhaust system, several problems in the front end probably related to the accident they had not reported to us, major damage to a wheel bearing, along with several normal maintenance that should have been done along the way. Instead, corners obviously had been cut by previous owners. Not reporting problems or issues with a car is bad enough, but misleading us was another step that has led us to give this establishment a very low recommendation along with a desire to never do business there again. Mr. Wambeke did originally pay half of our transmission repair bill, probably understanding that he sold us a lemon, but has not even responded to notifications and requests regarding all of the other repairs we have had to do. Montana lemon laws prevent us from taking any action, but we certainly want to inform the public. Either as a result of not doing any research whatsoever on this car, or worse, intentionally lying and covering up information, Mr. Wambeke and Little Brother Subaru led us far astray when we purchased this car, and we have been left paying thousands more than what we originally purchased the car for.

I wanted an SUV with Leather Heated Seats, Auto Lift gate and I needed a warrantee. I mentioned that I had a lot of items at home that I would need to tow. I drove a few different vehicles and settled on the 2023 Chevrolet Equinox premiere. I had a firm price range that I had to be in. I needed to be out the door for less than $30,000. I was very clear that I did not want a Subaru and I did not want to finance anything. When we went inside, they started talking about the warrantee. That was pushing me way out of my pricing that I could afford. I was very clear that I could not pay over $30,000. Then Blake, the sales manager, came up and asked if I could take a 3-year bumper to bumper warrantee instead of a 5-year bumper to bumper. He mentioned that it could save me some money. I asked if that could get me in the price range that I needed to be in. Then Blake came up with a paper that showed the Balance due of $29,413.33. I was thinking that it was out the door. I said thank you so much for getting me out the door for under $30,000. He said that he needed to get a deposit and then we will be done. I said that I would need to go to my house to get some cash. Then they gave me to the finance guy. The finance guy said that he wanted me to sign the contract before I left just in case, they got busy. Like an idiot I signed the paper and then headed out to my house to get another check and some cash. the amount that they said I would need to come back with just didn't make sense. So, I looked over the paper, and I noticed that they charged me more than I thought it was going to be. So, I got to the house, and I called them and I said Hey this vehicle was much more than I thought it was going to be. they said That I signed a contract and I was obligated to get the vehicle. I said I don't want it for that price. I had not taken possession of the vehicle yet at this point, but they said that I have to take it because I signed for it. I mentioned that I wanted to unwind the deal. I was extremely irritated, but I just didn't know what to do. According to them I had to pay the balance and take possession of the vehicle because I signed a contract. It was extremely irritating. I was very surprised that they would not work with me. They were closed on Sunday, so I called them 1sst thing Monday morning. I mentioned the price was an issue and by that time I noticed that the vehicle only towed 1500 lb. U needed a vehicle that would tow more than that. As I mentioned on Saturday, I have a lot of items that need tow. They mentioned that I signed the contract. Then I said I thought you had a 72 hour worry free guarantee. At that point Blake said that f I come back down before they close at 6pm he will swap this vehicle out for another one. So, I head down to Don K Chevrolet on Monday 4/6/26 before they close. Blake was not there I spoke with Travis Squires. At 1st he said they only have Subarus. IU mentioned that I cannot accept Subaru. I do not like the brand. He said that was all they had to show. So luckily, I had a couple of vehicles to ask about. I mentioned the Ford Edge Serl that they had on the lot. He took me out to look at that. He showed me the outside of the vehicle, and he said that it was not detailed yet and he did not have the key He said that he would extend my coming back so that I could test drive that one the next day. Then on Tuesday I contacted the dealership and they did not have that vehicle detailed yet either. I contacted them on Wednesday then again on Thursday and now again today on Friday 4/10/26. I'm not sure what is happening now. They have not contacted me back. I just really wanted to unwind the deal. Swapping vehicles out was a last resort and now they are not even willing to do that. At least they are not returning calls or messages. I feel extremely upset that they would treat me this way. I cannot recommend them because if feels like they did not do a very good deal for me. What's the change of a Chevy, Jeep GMC dealership only having a Subaru the only vehicle that I specified that I did not want. There was no reason that they needed to do business in this manner.
