Aixa is not only a miracle worker but also one of the nicest people I've ever met. When renovating my mother's home on the Westside after she moved to a nursing home in 2019, a construction worker inexplicably moved and dropped this painting even though I had set it aside with only a few items that I wanted to keep in a room that he wasn't even supposed to go in. Not only was this unique frame from about 1904 badly damaged, but about half of the molding was missing. To say I was upset was an understatement, and I assumed the frame was a lost cause. After finding Aixa on Yelp, I reached out to her in 2019 to see if she could repair the frame, but then life and the pandemic got in the way and nothing got done. I reached out again to Aixa in late 2024, and five years later she still remembered my email and this painting! I brought it to her studio, and she spent close to an hour explaining to me exactly how she would restore the frame step by step. I could immediately tell that she takes immense pride in her craft. I still don't know how she did it, but not only did she figure out where and how the broken pieces of molding fit back together, she also "magically" carved new molding where the sections were missing. Upon careful examination of the frame when I picked it up, not only were there no cracks but I couldn't tell where the broken pieces and her carvings all fit together. Perfectly seamless! I had hoped to only repair the molding, but ultimately Aixa took the frame apart and put it back together because the damage to the joints was worse than it looked. Despite the additional labor, she stood by her original estimate. Lastly, I didn't know this beforehand, but the frame isn't simply painted gold. Instead, to achieve the historical look of the frame, small pieces of gold leaf (you can use real gold leaf, but fake gold leaf looks just as good and is much less expensive) are carefully and methodically applied to the frame. Once again, Aixa's attention to detail and meticulous work is obvious when looking at the before and after photos! Her studio is no longer on the Westside, but totally worth the drive if you have something that you cherish and want to restore. read more

Very disappointed!!! After a quote of over $2000 to restore a $300 painting, I chose not to proceed with the restoration. Although Aixa may be a talented restorer, she forced me to pay $250 before allowing me to retrieve my painting from her. This charge was apparently a storage fee for leaving a painting at her shop. At NO time was I made aware of any fee to store my small painting (20" x 30" x 2") at her shop. I advised here that I was out of the country for a period of time and as soon as I returned I made arrangements to retrieve the damaged painting. The monthly storage fee was almost 50% of the cost for a 10' x 15' storage unit and near the original purchase price. At a minimum, her paperwork accepting the painting for an appraisal should have noted potential storage fees, rather than holding my painting hostage. Would gladly have paid a reasonable cost if she actually incurred any costs, which clearly she did not.p read more

I've never used a restorer before but I had an old wood mask that, while worthless money-wise, was quite special to me sentimentally. Somehow the beak of the mask broke years ago and I never knew what to do about it. Aixia at Centurion quickly respond and communicated clearly all throughout. When I got the mask back I was especially impressed with the aging that was done on the repair. The attention to detail is amazing. I can't tell where the break was. An excellent experience from start to finish! We inherited this mixed metal relief sculpture from my parents in Chicago, which was badly damaged during shipping. The piece cracked around the entire silhouette of the lady so badly that we were afraid the piece would split in two when hung. The frames housed 200 year old lithographs. Posted are a photo of 1 of the lithographs before frame repair (all 4 were similarly damaged), as well as the 4 lithographs after frame repair and re-framing. My apologies for a long review, but it's important to understand why we entrusted Centurion Fine Art Restoration with our father's painting. Our father's favorite past time was painting... it was an avenue that allowed him to express himself, and it brought much joy to our family. And, his paintings were a constant reminder of him, even if we wasn't there. In my father's waning years, he developed Alzheimer's disease, and one day my mother caught him unintentionally defacing one of his paintings. He had gotten into his paint supplies, and had dabbed yellow paint all over the face of the painting and the frame. Our family was heartbroken, yet my mother insisted on displaying the painting because she could "see the beauty" in our father's work... but the family felt pain whenever we saw the "defaced" painting. After my mother's passing, the family decided to have the painting restored. This was a task that carried much physical and emotional importance, so we sought a company that could expertly, and lovingly, restore our father's painting. We brought the painting to Centurion Fine Art Restoration, they assessed the damage, and determined that they would be able to restore the painting back to its original condition. Restoration took several months (but we were in no hurry) and Centurion kept us apprised of each step throughout the restoration process. When the restoration was completed, we cried. I am very pleased with the restoration process of 2 of my mother's paintings. I found Centurion Art Restoration by reading the reviews on Yelp. I called Aixa Myers and she spoke about the restoration process, answering all of my questions. Aixa is extremely knowledgeable about the restoration process, and gives very detailed answers to your questions. She also communicates with the Master Restorer, who prefers to devote her attention to the paintings and not interact with the public. This works very well for both Aixa, the Master Restorer, and the consumer. My paintings were stored in a garage and they had mainly dust and dirt damage, but there was some mold and water damage, as well as flaking of the paint. Restoration can be a complicated process, as well as time-consuming (color integration; chemical treatment for mold; varnishing; deep cleaning, etc.), but Aixa will walk you through the steps. Both paintings were restored with vibrancy of color, elimination of mold, replacement of the stretcher bar, and remained authentic to the original work.
