I like this movie theater. Parking is always pretty easy because they have a big lot. It's not in the greatest part of town and the road it's on is pretty big. The popcorn was good. Staff was helpful. The soda was pretty good even though I prefer when they have a normal fountain with single sodas rather than the machines that offer all the different kinds. I'm a plan Diet Coke girl so I normally prefer the other brew but this one is still pretty good. We went and saw obsession here. Decent movie theater. It's not very big, and the parking relative to the entrance is really dumb (entrance is on the opposite side of all the parking). The theater itself though was very clean, the recliners were comfortable, and I felt like I had a lot of space to stretch out. I also like that the icee's are self serve, so technically you can fill it but more than once's though in practice it's difficult to do. The most important thing to know about this megaplex is that it's clean, in good repair, and has great parking. The theaters aren't as huge as others, but the seating is fantastic and the loungers seem to be new. The restrooms are in tip-top shape. My only complaint is with the concessions. They're congested and confusing, with all of us newbies to that particular theater unclear about where to go and what to do. The staff were listless and seemed angry to be working, which is unfortunate because we were all excited to see the first showing of a first-run movie ("Fantastic Four"). You'd think that if you're getting gouged $24 for popcorn and two drinks, you'd at least get friendly service in return. Still, I'd go back. Quite possibly the filthiest end most disgusting movie theater I've been to. I reclined my chair back and the person next to me did not, and I was treated to this view of piles of trash all the way down the entire aisle. The carpet was also super dirty. I got the ick big time sitting there imagining rats rummaging through the smorgasbord of food and trash behind me. Parking lot is sketchy. Easy to buy tickets on your phone last minute. Easy check in. We ordered drinks and popcorn to be ready when we got there, and they were. Seats were easy to find because of improved signage. The Rows between seats are quite spacious, no stumbling over someone's feet. Theater seating so you won't have someone's head in the way. Sound is awesome, and not quite as loud as some of the newer theaters. But not loud enough to drown out the couple in front of us who were talking. Yes. Yes I did. I walk over to them to tell them to be considerate, and not talk so loud we're trying to watch the movie. Only to find them actually talking to someone on Facetime. I couldn't believe it. Answer me this, why do you pay hard earned money to come to a movie just to talk during it? Whether it's talking to your friend or someone on FaceTime. Or if you're not talking you're scrolling on your phone? Why even get off your couch? It's so rude to those of us who really just want to enjoy a night out watching a movie in the movie theater without all the distractions we can get at home. The seats and actual theaters are great. However, the concessions area is very confusing and I'm still not sure what to do if you want anything. Though the concessions cashier is at the front of the building, you first need to get your popcorn behind it and then come back to the front. It's a self serve soda fountain, with every variation of coke products available. Bathrooms are clean and not too far from the theaters. I'm a fan of this and other cinemark theaters - the place is kept clean, is sufficiently staffed, keeps enough showings going that I can always see the big pictures I want to see, and has snacks with a pre-order system that I like using. I can't believe I have never review this place. This is a decent theater. It's easy to locate and their parking lot is huge. A warning though...even though their parking lot is big, during the weekend or a new popular movie in theaters the parking lot gets full. They do have over flow parking across the street by Burger King. The seats are very comfortable and has enough leg room space. My favorite spot is usually behind the handicap seats because there is a rail and you can put your foot up. The sound system is great. It's loud enough to be great and there is no weird sounds. The screen is clean and nice. Great pictures. The concession stand is the same as all other theater. It's the same yummy buttery popcorn. The stuff is still over priced, but if you really want a snack it's the only thing that's available. I do like this theater...now they do need upgrade their seats to the lounger seats. ;) read more

I've been in SLC for almost 15 years now, and I keep going back to the theater every once and a while, no matter where in the valley I live. IMHO, the biggest upside for the Century 16 is CinéArts, their occasional foray into independent cinema. From my first time there seeing "Sideways" in 2004 to today's visit to see the documentary on Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg "RBG", it's been another option for the occasional independent film when you don't want to drive downtown to the Broadway or Tower. I have a Cinemark less than a mile from my house (Union Heights), and they don't have CinéArts; so bravo to the Cinemarks that participate! Along with a great movie today, I was surprised to find out that the theater was luxury recliners. I didn't realize they had converted most of its theaters to complete "Luxury Lounger" seats. This means less seats, but a much more comfortable viewing. It's the first time in a long time I've sat in the back row and the view is still great. This, along with the XD visuals and surround sound, it's a great overall experience. I also like Cinemarks for their "Kettle Corn" ... which is really carmel corn. It's a crispy, crunchy, sweet and superb. One thing I don't like is the lack of ticket kiosks. You used to be able to get tickets without dealing with a cashier (like you can at other Cinemarks), so I have often experienced an utterly unnecessary line. I love movies. And I'm pretty partial towards the Larry H Miller theaters. But we wanted to see Joker in the middle of the day, so we came here due to showtimes. I'd been here before, but this is what I thought this go around. It was a bit pricey, a little over six dollars a ticket for a matinee on a Tuesday. You can get tickets for five dollars all day on Tuesday at the Larry H Miller theaters. The snack layout was interesting but poorly executed. These are pretty pricey snacks too. It was a little north of $20 for a small popcorn and drink and nachos. My wife had to go to three different fountains to get a soda that tasted somewhat normal. And when we paid for our food the cashier also mentioned that another customer complained about the taste of the soda. And still charged us full price for it. The seating was pretty good. Very roomy with leather reclining seats. You didn't have to worry about the people in front of you bobbing their heads around, because you couldn't see them. That was probably the best part of this theater. One interesting feature to note was that the controls to the recliners are in the inside of your armrest and both my wife and I were accidentally making adjustments during the film. The bathrooms aren't too convenient, which can be a concern if you are running out for a quickie during the movie. But they are clean, so there's that. I probably wouldn't come back here unless I had a showtime convenience issue again. I'll drive the extra mile to go to the Jordan Megaplex. read more

My experience at Century 16 with Pros and Cons. The custom drinks and the recliners are the only reasons I come to this location at all. Pros: -Customizable Sodas with flavors available nowhere else. -The Popcorn is good (not worth the money though) -Electric recliner seats that are comfortable with big cup holders. Cons: -You have to wear a mask or prove you are vaccinated. I'm fully vaccinated but I didn't want to sit there and plead my case, so I wore a mask so they'd leave me alone- it's just easier. -The waiting time in line is ridiculous. There was one lady ahead of us to buy tickets and it almost took her 15 minutes to pay. It's a good thing I arrived 20 minutes early just in case because this lady would not shut her mouth about the million questions she had. There were multiple people working the ticket stand that could have sold me a ticket but they were too busy listening to this loud b*tch who had questions. Then they accidentally ripped her ticket and the lady got lost in the theater and couldn't find where she needed to go. -Which brings me to the next thing, they have a problem with accidentally ripping your movie ticket. They are not careful. Then you don't know which theater it is and the staff are too rude to help you. -When the movie was about to start there were a bunch of Zoomers on their bright cellphones and a silent message went on the screen to "Silence Cellphones Now" obviously this generation will never notice this message for as long as they live because they all suffer from severe ADHD and have the attention span of a goldfish so they are all dependent on Adderall and cannot pay attention to save their lives. It would be best to have this message play OUT LOUD in the future so that the ADHD kids can hear it because they were on their bright phones playing annoying 5 second Tik Toks during the entire movie. With the way they act this should be considered a disability because if the message said "The building is on fire, exit now." These kids would just tik tok themselves burning to death. -No Free drink refills, which is a bunch of crap and they need to change that. Especially when you pay alot for it. They use covid as an excuse. Next time when I'm filling my drink I'll chug it and refill it again, I don't care I'm getting my money's worth and I'm sick of the covid excuses to gip us out of more money. -The drink and snack area is way more confusing than it needs to be... They made it weird and difficult. They have this separate area for you to buy all the stuff but do you grab it first then pay for it, or pay for it first then grab it? I paid for mine first so I didn't get accused of stealing....the guy was annoyed I asked for my receipt but theaters like to accuse people of things. The whole checkout process is beyond strange and the layout makes it confusing on what they want you to do. I miss when it was ONE counter for the snacks. -I was confused about the con above, so I asked an associate who was by the popcorn and she was very rude about it and looked at me like I should "Just know". Excuse me, it was my first time at this theater with the f*cked up concession stand layout. This "You should just know, I won't help you" attitude is going to kill their business. No help with finding my theater when they ripped my ticket, no help finding where to pay for snacks, no help finding the restroom. These people don't care about anyone but themselves and if there were a fire they wouldn't help you they'd just sit and watch you die. -The weird "Noovie" ads before the movie are the definition of cringy, It makes me want to arrive late to the movie so I can skip the uncomfortableness and the eye rolls. In the future I will be waiting outside until the movie is about the begin. -We spent more money on 2 drinks and a bucket of popcorn than we did on our tickets which goes to show how overpriced it is. The drinks are worth the money you for the customization, but not the popcorn. -The Theater could be cleaner. When I walked in there was popcorn all over the stairs. read more

I love this new trend of movie theatres making all the seats reclining luxury seats, but what makes this theatre even better than that, they've installed these like... privacy walls (?) between the rows supposedly it's so that you feel more like it's a "private screening," I don't know that that's actually what they accomplish with it but if it keeps my seat from getting kicked by the little kid behind me, I'm all for it. The other benefit is that if the person in the row behind you whispers to their friend you can't hear it - again, it doesn't really help with the people in your row that talk, and if the person behind you talks loudly or a baby cries, I don't see it helping that much, but it's deffo less bad than it could be. The parking lot is kind of huge which is good and bad. I'm never worried that I'll be able to find parking, but during busy hours you might have to walk a little to get there. I don't know if this is a typical problem or if it was just that day, but when I was there during winter once the parking lot was basically an ice skating rink and I fell on my ass pretty hard. Service is fine, not like amazing or anything, you can tell that they don't want to be there (and honestly, I can't blame them for that, I've had shitty jobs too, keeping up that super nice facade is exhausting,) but they've never been rude, they're immediately responsive when I walk up and when I ask a question they know the answer. This is probably my go to movie theater only because it's the closest to my place and also it's not really busy (which can be a good thing or bad thing depending how you look at it. I love the luxury seating and the recliner chairs because you get to sit comfortably whenever you are watching the movie. The aisle spacing in the theater is perfect too because you can walk through the rows without having to crush anyone. Also if you are sitting next to anyone, you're shoulder isn't touching anyone else's which is a good thing if you're eating or snacking on something during the movie. The food however I feel is overpriced. All movie theater food is expensive but I just feel for the quality it doesn't seem fresh. Popcorn can be a little stale sometimes and the servings aren't justifiable compared to the price. If you buy 2 drinks and a large popcorn, you are only saving 50 cents. Doesn't sound like a deal to me. I rated this 4 stars not only because of the food but also because of the temperature in the actual theater. It gets really hot and I'm not sure they even have the air going which can be really uncomfortable when you're 1 hour in a movie that is 2 to 2.5 hrs long. No one; however, went above and beyond the call of duty, so there's that. Treats: They do have some bulk candy that you can put into little baggies. That was awesome, especially because I don't need an entire bag of M&Ms but rather a few snackie snacks of Peach Rings and Reese's Pieces and Sour Watermelons. Besides that, everything was just meh. Jan 2, 2019 Went to the earliest showing of Frozen 2 9:55am with my partner and was disappointed in the cleanliness of the theatre. When we walked in there was garbage on the floor in the queue line and the theatre itself had popcorn, wrappers, and napkins from prior shows on the chairs and floor. Along with during the show a woman rudely decided to take an inappropriately loud phone call then didn't turn off her screen light while she texted people. She also allowed her child to continually play with a light up toy in the theatre during the showing of the movie. My partner and I rarely get time to go out together like this and we will probably not go back to the theater due to this experience. read more

For my little girl's birthday we used our Cinemark tickets from the app to reserve tickets for Mario, which she's been waiting to see. Also ordered food so we would be prepared. We get to the theater and the "projector hasn't been working all day." You would think they would have let us know any time during the day so we could go to another theater, but no. Then, the process for getting refunds was a long line of disgruntled customers and staff who had no idea how to do the refunds. And the staff didn't seem to put out by the huge inconvenience we were experiencing, so customer service extremely underwhelming. They totally have new comfortable new leather seats here from the last time I've been here which was about two years ago. I had time to kill. Like a lot of time and decided to go watch a movie and was thinking of movie hopping but had realized the way they have their movie theatre set up makes it impossible which is smart. They have two sections in the movie theatre that require showing your ticket stub which is the right and left side. Reason why I say it makes it almost impossible to movie hop is because they have one side showing movies close to the time with each other and so if you are done with your movie, the movies that will start next or close to starting next will be located in the other side. Which is pretty smart. Even if you think you can movie hop, I noticed there are cameras everywhere and also workers so think again. Besides, compared to California, the movie prices are pretty cheap. Sunday prices are $6.00 a movie for early bird and anything after noon is $6.75 which is still pretty cheap. Restrooms are pretty clean as well. read more

This movie theater is owned by Cinemark. Most of the time this place is acceptable during the day, even more so. Be aware of one big negative for this location. It is not in the nicest area there are many vagrants who frequent past this location and as a result there is a lot of car break-ins, so don't leave any valuables in your car. A police presence is very noticeable on weekend evenings but it still happens. Panhandling is a big concern but I've been asked for money only once. They don't employ any private security that I've noticed. There is plenty of parking available with an overflow parking lot across the street to the East. There is only one ticket kiosk in the lobby and sometimes they rope it off for whatever reason. I wish there were more kiosks as they are faster and the lines are shorter, plus you don't have to deal with any pesky humans. Most of the employees are friendly. They have the usual concessions including popcorn, nachos, ice cream, and Starbucks coffee. There are lots of little candies to choose from as well. The interior is pretty clean and the staff do a decent job of keeping it clean. Most of the time the seats are fine but occasionally we have run into broken seats. All of the screens have stadium seating. They have 3D projectors but not all digital projectors. Some of the smaller screens need a sound system upgrade. The theater claims to be THX certified. Best bets for close food are Crown Burger or Little Dave's Deli. The nearby Burger King is gross, same with Amber Restaurant. Their web site is terrible and looks like it is from 1997. Avoid the web site. Their online ticketing option adds costs and time. The ticket takers often give you a dirty look as the pull out their mobile device to scan in your printed ticket. Sanitized between every movie... hmm don't think so. Unfortunately we walked into our private theater and there was trash and crumbs all over the carpet. On the seats there were popcorn greasy finger marks and soda spilled on the seats and arm rests. Ridiculous especially with what's going on right now. I suggest better cleaning between every movie so guests feel more comfortable in their seats when renting an entire theater especially. I really liked that this location wasn't very busy and we were able to have the whole show to ourselves almost. I saw that they offered Starbucks, ice cream, stuffed churros, kettle corn, and a ton of candy options in bulk but I resisted (LOL for once) and stuck to an icee and buttered popcorn. Parking was plentiful and there are some good restaurants nearby like the pie, kabob stop, and the Asian options in Chinatown. read more

Not the best, but certainly not the worst. This used to be my go to theater when I lived closer to it, but now I'll only go if someone else wants to see something there. They seemed to have updated their larger houses recently with wider and 'leather' seats and better speakers along with new screans. As I've said before, I like Cinemarks popcorn more than Megaplex, but they have higher prices. The theaters are usually clean and I've never had a projection issue with them before. I do like how they have also implemented assigned seats. It baffles me that some theaters still don't have that option. Overall, a better theater than it used to be, but not the best. If you are trying to save a buck this may be the theater for you, but there are a few reasons I won't return. #1 Ticketing. This movie theater is pretty centrally located in the valley. Fairly convenient on State and right off a freeway exit. As of late 2017/early 2018 they are remodeling the facility to redo each theater with luxury seating. They play the latest movies and even have $5 Tuesdays similar to the rest of the Salt Lake Valley. The remodel is a good idea as this theater is a little dated! Their concessions are a bit spendy, but that is pretty normal for movie theater foods. The options are pretty standard for a theater. I think the facility gets a B- on cleanliness, but that is over all. It is partially a commentary on the state that the patrons leave it in as well. There are garbage cans everywhere ... and yet, moviegoers seems to not be able to find them and leave trash for the staff to clean up for them. Reserved seating seems not no longer be a perk at the movies, but this place does it too. Fun arcade room in the lobby seems to be busy most nights I have been there. They also offer Fanthom events, which is a fun perk that I enjoy. read more
