On August 26, 2026, I called CenturyLink in Phoenix, Arizona to try to port my mother's home phone number to a new cellular phone with Verizon; I was unsuccessful in doing so, so my mother had to get a new number. When I called CenturyLink, it took me several minutes, at least 30 minutes, just to reach a live representative after going through a cumbersome automated system. The representative did not know what he was doing regarding the transfer of the home phone number to a cellphone, so I told him to just cancel the service and my account. When I asked him to cancel service and close the account, he kept me on for over another 30 minutes trying to keep me as a customer. He finally closed and canceled my account and disconnected the telephone service, after trying to tell me that I would be charged an extra $99 if I didn't return any equipment - there was no equipment to return, as this was an old telephone landline. I tried to cancel the service and account online, but CenturyLink's website was down! This whole process was a nightmare; NO ONE has over an hour to spend with a company that deliberately gives their customers the run-around and desperately tries to keep them by lying to them and deceiving them. I do NOT recommend CenturyLink of Phoenix, Arizona to anyone. Look elsewhere for your telecommunications needs (phone, internet, cable). read more

Run, don't walk away. I "was" going to switch over to Century Link. I set up an appointment for internet service. Afterwards was bombarded with a high number of emails and texts about the appointment. The morning the tech was scheduled to come to our home I received a text saying the windows was from 8 am to 5 pm (or maybe it was 4 pm.) Later that morning they closed the window from 12:40 pm to 4:40 pm. The tech was late. When I called to find out where the tech was the person who answered the phone had no information and was unable to help, but she was more than willing to try to upsell me. Then she transferred me to someone that sells home security, and naturally they couldn't help. Instead, they tried to sell me home security. The tech showed up, late. He was unable to set us up for service because our neighborhood isn't set up for Fiberlink. He said he would let them know so they wouldn't bill me. They billed me for $55.32. When I called nobody was willing or able to help, just upsell. I called the phone number that was on my bank account for Century Link. I got a bot that was unable to help, had no record of me and never spoke with a live person. If I could give them a minus 1 I would. read more

Paying 55 a month replaced my modem with a supposedly upgraded one! Cost over $300. Dollars. Still never getting m.b.p.m they promised me. Buffering and looses signal. Have to plug and reply in practically every morning. I give Century link a negative star!!! read more

I ordered CenturyLink. That was two weeks ago. I have not been hooked up/had the internet set up. I can't reach anyone. Looks like my order fell into the trash can. I get texts to contact a non-existent customer service. I can't reach anyone by phone. The numbers listed to call them get "dropped" which is disappointing. I thought Cox was bad. At least they answer every 100 attempts. These people can't even return a call and I am not "hooked up". What is it going to be like after I get hooked up??? I think I will keep using my iPhone with ATT as my hotspot. Pathetic. read more

I have been on the phone with incompetent customer service - disservice for hours! They can't find my address first, can't find me using their account number they gave me and the prompts on the phone take in circles. They have on their website to call for 24/7 service and no one to talk to on weekends that I can tell. As you listen to the end of the recording it says they're closed. I worked in the cable industry for 23 Years and have never experienced the type of service from any company as I have with these dimwits. This place just lost a 12 year customer. They promised a tech out and we waited for a quoted 8am-5pm time frame. No one showed up so we called and what do you know somehow it was canceled. By whom? Not us so we asked to get someone right away as we run a business from home. We were told sorry we can't get to you until Thursday. When we asked why so long they told us that's just how long it will take. We said that doesn't work we run a business and need this ASAP who cancelled the call? We don't know it was just cancelled. Well that doesn't work for us and we were asked if we would like to cancel our service. At this time we said yes and were promptly told we don't pro rate so your service will be off Oct 16th. Just like that these people don't care. Just another number. I called Cox and we are up and running just like that. I made an appointment as a new client to have installed Wi-Fi internet service. Of course they were a week out, still made the appt. Sadly the window of opportunity to have installation was 8am - 4pm. Having stayed put in my residence for the entire time this is where and what that got me no service or explanation as to why the "NO SHOW"! 1. Received a text from Century Link/Jose at 10:31am saying he was on his way and to give 30 min. travel time. After waiting 1 hr. and 15 min. I called CL to be put on hold to check the time and preceded to inform me it is now a 2:30pm window? Even after asking again why the text. No explantion. 2. Now 3:45pm rolls around, no text, no show......I phoned again CL. They could NOT EXPLAIN why the no show.........connecting me to their "loyalty group" he could NOT EXPLAIN either, but to push my order to the following week! Expressing my frustration he wanted to "make it right" by giving me $ off my bill once it transpireds. 3. Is there another trustworthy Internet Provider that holds their employees to a time schedule for customers that are given a 8 hour waiting window to be at the residence for installation? Does the employees text that says they are on their way and NEVER SHOWS ever considered for the "shabby customer service"?! read more

At first I thought CenturyLink would be great, but also that it was our only choice where we live since for some stupid reason Cox doesn't service this gated community but services McDonalds right across the street apparently? Boy was I wrong about them! Their internet service sucks and is slow, they don't have updates if they are going to provide higher speeds, and also their customer service is horrid! Use another internet provider. Worst experience ever. Modem went bad and, in their system, it was replaced same day. Spoke to rep. for help and could hear chickens in background and spoke little English. Very disappointed in who they contract for tech support. read more

Wow. Atrocious. Only got the one star because you can't give zero. My son is moving into a new apartment, where you can only use Centurylink for internet/cable. He moved in on April 11. On April 6 he called to have it hooked up, but they couldn't bother themselves to get out there until 4/17. On 4/16, he got an email saying it was cancelled. He spent 4 hours on the phone, finally getting someone to say they weren't sure what happened, but got it rescheduled for 4/22. On 4/18, he got another email stating the 4/22 appointment had been cancelled. Both times he was given the reason that Centurylink didn't service that building. Patently untrue. We got the number of the local sales person, who has a problem returning phone calls, or texts. If you have an option, do not use this service. read more

OMG this company has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. You can't get direct to a person, they ask the same questions over and over. They asked for a good callback number 5 times during a single call yet when the call was disconnected after I'd been transferred for the 3rd time, no one called back. They promised a replacement router was sent, yet after 4 business days, nothing was received so I spend another 75 minutes on chat only for them to tell me they have no record of the order. No I'm expected to wait another 4 business days and I should call back to make sure it's ordered tomorrow. read more

Signed up for full package, internet, phone and TV. Received an appointment between 8 and 12. I called at 12:15 to ask where they were. "Not coming" I was told. Screwed up the paperwork. No call, no apology. Canceled contract. Wrote letter to CEO, no reply. We don't need another cable company that can't keep appointments! read more

I've been a customer of CenturyLink for 8 years and all of a sudden my internet has started freezing on me. I have had them out to my house three or four times in the last couple months the last time the guy came out here on Wednesday the service was even worse than it's ever been. I am literally looking at a frozen screen listening to the audio of videos. I have been a major advocate for CenturyLink over all of these years and back when they were Quest. Their bills are less but their service is absolutely horrible. I'm going to be dedicating all of my time for the next week making sure my voice is heard anywhere and everywhere possible fervently expressing my distaste for this company that I've been a loyal patron to. If you are thinking about acquiring their services I strongly urge you to reconsider. Spend the extra $20 a month and go to Cox Cable that's what I'm in the process of doing right now. I have been a customer of centurylink through three names. I have called and been on the phone for hours each time. They told me they would give me 19.95 on my Internet per mouth fir 1 year. Each time they have told me it is going to happen and nothing has changed. Such in confidence reminds me government. Listen big shots there are other companies out there. read more

One star is too many but you cant give negative stars! Finally am cancelling service before I ever got one bit of data. 4+hours on the phone, 2+ hours on chat and massive amount of lies....... Wbat a waste of my time! No matter how good the price seems its all a lie! Honestly, this company does not deserve any stars, I am so fed up with their service and customer support, which amounts to nothing. With the apartment that I live in, I have no choice but to use their service, but all I did was move literally right across from the 1 bedroom apartment to the two and my internet service goes from 40mbs to 20 so when I call to ask them about this they tell me that is how it is and my rate went up $20 because of the location (What a joke). I have also had to call their over the phone support many times because of how poor the speed and connection is, and I swear these people are completely useless, I swear it's like going to the DMV, you can tell nobody likes their job and nobody wants to help you, plus when you need additional assistance when you use their 24 hour support, the supervisor don't work 24 hours so you are stuck with someone who can't even try to support you. Century link has now made it part of my decision making on where I decide to live next, because if they are the only option, I will not live there. read more

We have had CenturyLink for, at least, couple years now. The prices kept going up and up and when I would call in, they would act as if it was my fault for not noticing how much time I had left on a promotion that they make you call in and renew every year. I finally told them to cut every thing off except Internet. Little did I know canceling TV was going to shut off Internet for the whole day as well. I called several times and was told I had to wait until 5pm. When I called at 5pm, I was told I had to wait until 8pm. I called at 8pm and was told there was a billing issue and my service has been discontinued. Apparently, my bill was due on the 1st and today was the 3rd. There was no previous balance due; I WAS JUST TWO DAYS LATE. I called in a total of four times starting at 6:14am and was not told about a billing issue until the 8pm call when the billing department was closed. Not only that, but when I called at 5pm, the tech support guy treated me like I was an imbluant and was very condescending. If I was male he would not have talked to me like that. Our bill was always due in the middle of the month. I don't know when they changed it to the 1st, but to disconnect our service because we were TWO DAYS late is unforgivable. They have no sense of customer loyalty what so ever. Looks like we're going to be Cox customers now read more
