Visited Victoria for the weekend and stumbled upon this while looking at Google maps it was "top rated". We went at happy hour on a Saturday and the place was empty (one other party was sitting). The service was attentive and friendly. We ordered the Soju Spritz off the happy hour and the Daegu Dumplings. Soju Spritz was tasty and refreshing and the dumplings were flavorful and crispy. We wanted to order the LA Galbi Fries (but they didn't have short ribs that day), so we got the Bulgogi fries instead. The menu said they were "like poutine-but better", it was a nice spin on poutine, delicious and well coated with meat and sauce. Lastly, we got the Padak Fried Chicken, the presentation was very pretty. The chicken was crunch, moist and delicious. We brought 2 kiddos along, they had high chairs, but no changing table in the bathroom and no kids menu. This restaurant would he a good date spot as it is more on the fancy side or a good spot to meet up with friends. I would highly recommend Cera Tapas, check it out for yourself.

    Hoi A dish.

New to this town and we yelp where to eat. We ran into this restaurant and so we decided to give it a shot. The place ambient was appropriate and the hostess directed us to seat at back of the restaurant. We looked at the menu and all the name have unique name for their dishes. We decided to ordered dishes like screenshot. The food were phenomenal and service was excellent. There's nothing to complain about. I would definitely recommend this place if you're into Korean food. I will come back again to try different dishes

Really nice people. Easy 5. The food was good. The olives were excellent quality. Wondered how they would be warmed - warmth accentuates the silkiness. The squid was really lovely. The service was great, with attentive and friendly staff! We tried the gambas without chorizo, papas bravas, broccolini with the romesco sauce, and the roasted carrots. Ambiance was great - super warm and welcoming which was magnified by the host. Super lovely. Then the wait staff. Whoever is hiring/training is doing a great job! Not drinking right now but the cocktail menu was super tempting. Every menu item sounded great. We got some help on ordering from our servers and Tanya picked ones she had enjoyed before. We also sat right beside the pick up window so it was fun seeing food come out! The food was fantastic. See pictures for what we ordered. We are big fans of traditional fare, but the Block is a place we are so glad we experienced and will certainly return utilizing the knowledge we garnered during our first experience. A big thank you to for helping us through picking one price fixe January exploration of your local restaurants and filling it with other ala carte additions. As we often do we ordered far too much food, wanting to explore everything off a menu that is far reaching. Not sure if our additions worked with the price fixe menu, but we sure enjoyed checking everything out. The interior is interesting with the addition of structural steel in the space to keep this heritage building (I think) standing tall for a few generations. We sure hope it's still here for a long while and will most likely come again the next time we are in Victoria. That is saying a lot as there are a wide range of restaurants in the neighbourhood, but you do want to check the Block out!

Love the European Wine Bar/French Bistro vibes they have going and it's located in the cute Fernwood neighbourhood. Love their approach on French-inspired foods and showcasing seasonal local fresh veggies and plating it differently. The food is fresh and light, which is always nice for a French restaurant. We got the local crudités served with the eggplant roasted dip and it was a delight. The tomatoes were fresh and I appreciated the various textures, depth and flavours. The dishes are great for sharing. Love the pomme frites. The BBQ shishitos were a treat! The bread and butter were phenomenal. I believe that it is freshly baked. The service was amazing! They have a great ever-changing wine list from Europe as well as different parts of Canada. In addition, they have amazing cocktails. Unfortunately, Stage fell a little short for us. We had sent an email in advance mentioning that we are pescatarians and do not eat meat. We were very excited to try their fish offerings (Halibut and Rockfish) off the menu that night but our waitress informed us that the kitchen wouldn't be able to make any changes to the dishes and that some meat products were used in both fish options. We were very disappointed, especially since the food is so good. I recommend and advise that if you have two fish offerings, at least leave one completely pescatarian and free of meat products. We also didn't want to opt for the warm potato salad with mackerel since we had already had the pomme frites. As a result, we did not have a suitable protein option that night. This was the only thing that ticked us off, considering the level of care and pride they take with the food in their restaurant.

Really nice wine bar. Great wine and atmosphere. A bit pricy but very nice wine selection.read more

I wouldn't recommend coming here if you need a "quick bite" or have fussy kids who will become impatient. But, if you're ok to sit and enjoy a bit you will find the service fine. As a vegetarian, I was delighted that there were ample options for me to choose from without modifications necessary. This didn't stop me from ordering the delicious cavatelli with pesto and goat cheese for two nights in a row, but I loved having options! While dining with a larger group, the person who had the chicken and the person who had the short rib, both agreed their dishes were possibly the best preparation they'd ever had. The one complaint was that some in our group felt their dish was over salted. After enjoying the pastries at duo earlier in the day, I knew dessert was going to be worth it. We ordered the earl grey bar, the apple cake, and several other little bites. All were delighted with their selection. These desserts are on the smaller side (maybe about 4-5 bites each) so I do not recommend sharing. At breakfast, I had the avocado toast which was likewise delicious. They kept the coffee hot. Aura consistently exceeded my expectations.

The service was "mid" at best... our server was not very attentive or knowledgeable - 2/5 at best. We were seated next to an obnoxious table - they were so loud and actually FaceTiming for the entire restaurant to hear. Then a 5th friend decided to stop by - we hoped they would move to the bar at this stage (away from us) but he pulled up a chair and was even louder than the 4 at the table. We muscled through the first course (Burrata - pretty tasty), and were halfway through the halibut when we finally asked to be moved. Unfortunately the only tables were in the bar area - no view, but nice and quiet. We ordered dessert - zero mention of my wife's birthday (which was on the rez) or action to deal with the table that killed the vibe of the whole place. I left with a sour taste in my mouth after an expensive meal. There are much better options in Victoria.

Staff is very warm and helpful. This is the kind of place where you go for a date night - and get a nice cocktail and the chat the night away. We managed to get a reservation on short notice on a Friday night. We went as a family of 3 - 2 adults, 1 fiver-year old. Things we got - 1. West Coast Fish Chowder - nice but can be skipped. I ordered it for my son as a safe option and yes, he liked it very much. 2. Chicken Liver Parfait - very good! Must try!! To be honest, I am not a fan of chicken liver in general. I have had it a few times in other places and have never been able to go beyond the first bite but my spouse really likes it. We checked with our server before ordering this and she was very encouraging to give it is a go and I am so glad we did! It was very well made and was served with a orange/lemon marmalade which really complimented the pate. 3. Duck Confit - Good! 4. Smash Burger - Must have been very good. My five-year old swiped it clean without one word. 5. Boom Margarita - nice! 6. Earl Grey Sour - Very very nice - must try!! 7. Pasta with spicy arrabbiata sauce - Flavors were good but the pasta came caked from the get go which was very unfortunate since the dish had the potential to pack a punch. Just our luck I guess! I was too shy to bring it to their notice and ate whatever I could. The staff and ambiance made sure we had a great time and we will be back for sure to try more of their menu, perhaps during brunch or an early lunch to take advantage of those amazing marina views.
