I made it into the parking lot at 6:55pm and was ignored by the three initial people I saw. I tried to understand because who comes in 5 minutes before closing but there were multiple trucks being worked on and the owners were different ethnicities than I was. I then spoke up to one of the workers and he said speak to someone in the office, the manager. I had already went into the office and no one was there but as I walked back up to the office, he came out and I asked if I could get a used tire as I just drove 20 minutes to make it. He denied me service while speaking to another customer(who wasn't my ethnicity/race) who came in after me. At this point it's 7:02pm. The service of the roadside assistance from her insurance company was essentially non-existant and cost over two hours of delay while she sat on the side of the road in 100 degree heat. Gene put us in touch with a towing company and a tire shop, all open on a holiday. I was driving from Merced to Las Vegas when something told me I should stop and get my oil changed. When I pulled into another shop, they told me they couldn't do the oil change because my car had an active coolant leak. At that point, I was in Bakersfield, hours away from home and still hours away from my destination. As a woman traveling alone, I was honestly scared and worried that something was seriously wrong with my car. Thankfully, I found this shop. David took the time to listen to what was going on and immediately wanted to help. Even though they were busy, he understood my situation and didn't just treat me like another customer. He genuinely cared. That meant a lot to me, especially being so far away from home and not knowing what was wrong with my car. After taking a look, they found that my radiator cap was broken and causing the leak. They replaced it, and just like that, the problem was solved. The relief I felt in that moment was huge. What I thought might turn into a major repair ended up being a simple fix because of their honesty and willingness to help. What really stood out to me, though, was the kindness. David even called me the next day to make sure I had made it safely to my destination. That simple gesture meant so much and showed me that he truly cares about the people who walk through his doors. As an older woman, it can be easy to be taken advantage of by unscrupulous mechanics; not to mention how condescending they can be. I can assure you that this will not happen at this business. They are kind, respectful, and though everything is expensive these days, they are honest and their prices are reasonable. They go above and beyond.
