Hands-down the best maki rolls in Northern Indiana! We've tried just about every sushi spot in the region, but we always make the 40-minute drive to Cerulean, and it's worth every mile. I spiced things up by adding jalapeños to the koshou roll and - wow - it was next-level delicious. Easily my new all-time favorite sushi roll. My husband is hooked on the flying fish roll (his ride or die); and if you try it too, you'll get why. The rolls are beautifully crafted, generously filled, and bursting with flavor. Cute place located on an inlet from Winona Lake in cute Winona Village. We ate indoors which was comfortable and clean. They also had a nice sized outdoor patio overlooking the inlet. Went here for lunch on a Friday. It was a little busy, but not bad. Employees that we encountered, host and waiter, were SUPER nice, but service is SLOW. Took quite a while to get our lunch considering it wasn't super busy. Our waitress checked in on us once right after our food arrived to see if everything was ok, but then didn't come back until the end of the meal to bring our bill. In the meantime, I had run out of water (the only thing I was drinking) and had to take my lunch partner's water. We both got Bento boxes. I got the scallop Bento box with edamame, Udon noodles, and brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts were delicious. Very glad I ordered them. I was disappointed with the scallops, especially since adding them as my main made my Bento box one of the more expensive ones. That would have been fine had they been good. There were four scallops. They're very small. I was expecting bigger scallops. And they were very salty. I've never had over-salted scallops before. Overall, I enjoyed it and I would come back. Best spot in Warsaw. Clean, some damn good Midwest service, nothing fancy just kind and attentive. Recent renovation, menu is a nice little mix of sushi and sammies. I got the Korean gochujang grilled chicken sandwich and was pleasantly surprised that there was decent kimchi, and the sauce was not overly sweet! They nailed it. My first time in Warsaw and my coworkers brought me to Cerulean. I enjoyed my time here! We ordered a variety of appetizers, all of which were amazing! From the red pepper jam, calamari, to fried mushrooms. The star of the show was the fried mushrooms. They were a hit at the table, so we needed more orders of it!For sushi, I had the spicy veggie roll and the sweet chili roll. The sweet chili roll was my favorite. Full of flavor, fresh, not overpowered by sauces. The service was exceptional and fast! The restaurant was not very crowded on a weekday night, but we enjoyed the calm environment. Still a nice place to dine and hang out at the lake. Making a reservation is easy. The restaurant is clean, orderly and comfortable. Getting a reservation on a Friday and night is still difficult. The biggest downside to Cerulean is the skills of the waitresses. This has been a consistent issue over the years. They had plenty of staff to handle the large volume of customers. However our waitress seemed to miss a lot of the basics like forgetting to tell us about the specials, that sushi is a 45+ minute wait, not knowing the menu, not providing refills in a timely basis and not knowing what one of the five desserts were. The sushi is good. It's not very designer...just basic sushi. They tested fresh and were moderate in size. The rolls weren't stuffed with much filling. The white cheddar Mac & cheese was pretty good. It was very creamy. The sauce was thin and drained to the bottom. I liked it. The chocolate praline dessert was very good! The moose was smooth, light in texture and silky. It had a nice light chocolate taste with slight amounts of praline crunches. read more

I hate to say it, because I enjoyed the atmosphere and service, but the sushi was BAD. Very bland and rice so dry the rolls crumbled apart before I could dip into my soy sauce. Not from this area and know good sushi. This ain't it from my experience. Cocktails were also bizarre. My old fashioned - too much bitters, not enough simple syrup and I hate when they're made too sweet. This was just kinda gross. Even my birthday cheesecake was crumbly and dry. Bad food for the price, with the exception of the asparagus soup. That was very delicious, which setup a false expectation for the ensuing meal. It was a Wednesday night, so maybe they didn't have their A-game. I dunno. Likely won't return. read more

Some people call it tapas but it's not really tapas either. 2. The service was really slow 3. I ordered a salad that never arrived (didn't get charged) 4. One person ordered the duck & they were out. 5. 3 people ordered the tenderloin, 2 medium rare & 1 medium well. They all 3 came out medium 5. I got the scallops which were really thin & the risotto was too rich & salty. 6. We ordered 2 glasses of wine, the first glass was probably like 4 oz. The 2nd glass was more like 5 oz. The steaks tasted really good, good apps & good poke bowl so that's why I gave them 3 stars, otherwise I would have given this place 2. read more

This is such a cool place in Winona Lake. I went with my family and were seated promptly. The server was very nice and accommodating since my family member is in a power chair. We ordered our drinks and appetizers. We shared the red pepper jam, the cerulean Brussel sprouts, the crispy portabella mushrooms, and the patatas bravas. All were really good. For my entree I had fried chicken sandwich. It was good and a nice portion. The rest of the entrees looked good too. I'd definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner. read more

Having gone to Winona several times we had never tried Cerulean. But today was different! The atmosphere inside was inviting and could even pass as somewhat romantic, if you dressed up a bit. Our waitress did a nice job of introducing us to the menu and everything we ordered was done well! The Brussel sprouts are the best I've ever had in my life! We ordered two of the namesake hamburgers and they had a wonderful flavor! We also got the potato wedges and the dill sauce was very complementary. I have been here 3 times now and I have NEVER been disappointed. Consistency is key and very much appreciated. Food is great, service is excellent (Thank you Mikayla). The Indiana cheeseboard and Brussels sprouts are a great way to kick things off! Although, this would be better for a bigger party, since the cheese board it's pretty big. Personally I always have sushi, but great feedback on the seared tuna and beef tenderloin from my coworkers. The main event of the evening is always that goat cheese cheesecake. On a family day trip to Winona, I had high expectations from other reviews, as well as the bustling indoor and outdoor seating. The decor was really nice inside, but we wanted to sit outside to be safe. We were a party of greater than 6, so had to be split up in two tables to follow state orders. All of the tables with shade were taken so we were seated at those, but were able to ask for change of seats once others left. All of this was all fine, but the reason why I give our experience 3 stars is because of the following: Service took forever. Our waitress was most likely new (she even joked about relaying our menu questions to the kitchen because she likely didn't know the answer to them), and took forever to bring us our drinks, and did not bring utensils or napkins even after our food arrived - we had to ask her for all of these things. She was friendly, but that's about her only redeeming factor. The food was WAY too salty. Across the board, everything we ordered that requires cooking was overly salted. The moment I saw the Spicy Chicken Ramen, I knew something must've been wrong with it - the broth looked like straight soy sauce. And it tasted like it too. My boyfriend and I have had our fair share of ramen, and it tastes nowhere near that, and the flavors seemed completely off. The soup was bitter, and just tasted like salt. It didn't even have the aroma of quality soy sauce. It felt like the broth had been mixed in the wrong proportions. The chicken had absorbed all of the horrible flavor too. The Bento Box was okay. Our main item, the Duck Fried Rice, was also very salty. The Asian noodles and Crispy Potatoes were the best part of our meal. The Minneapolis Roll and Samurai Futo Roll were decent. I believe that because there was no cooking or marination involved, it was a regular, palatable taste. Portion of raw fish was satisfactory too. With all of these elements combined, by the time we finally received all of our food, we were hot and tired and didn't want to waste more time waiting for it if we sent it back to the kitchen, so we didn't. If it weren't for the difficult circumstances I know the restaurant industry as a whole has gone through in the past few months, I would give this review 2 stars. However, I will give Cerulean a slight benefit of the doubt and bump it up to 3. It looked like most of the people there were satisfied with their visit, but it was also a mostly white crowd, given that we were in the middle of nowhere Northern Indiana. As an Asian American, this is my honest review. Hope that Cerulean is able to continue improving and bringing a diverse cuisine to this area of the Midwest! read more

Food is excellent. The lunch bento box offerings are phenomenal, and a really good bang for the buck. The sushi rolls are also, great, with a lot of fun signature rolls available for the adventurous. I'm planning on trying the chicken ramen on my next visit. Oh and whatever you do, make sure you get the cheesecake dessert. It is legitimately the best restaurant dessert I have ever had. read more

Delicious food, Slow service. I dined in on a Tuesday evening by myself. The place was difficult to find as there is not good lighting in the parking lot or outside the restaurant. The place was not busy and I got sat right away. It took 10 minutes for the waitress to show up at my table - in which time I almost left to another restaurant. I had my order ready when she arrived. The food was served fast and it was delicious. It took another 10 minutes after I was done eating for the waitress to return to check on me and cash me out. Been wanting to try this place for awhile. We had a party of 6 on a hot summer evening. We were seated on the screened patio which was extremely hot. Once the curtain was pulled to block the sun, it helped. We ordered the 3 cheese board which was delicious but we were only given one small piece of bread for each of us. After awhile the waitress brought one more for each of us. But still wasn't enough. We all had bento boxes. Some had the sushi as the entree which was just ok, unfortunately, nothing special. Those that had the Tso chicken really liked it. The Panko chicken was a little greasy but good. The favorites were really the side items!
