I've wanted to try this place for a while now. I've heard great things and happy I finally got to try it out. I ordered the salsa Fresca for my appetizer (not pictured). But it was so fresh and had a little spice to it but not spicy. It also came with these homemade tortilla chips. I ordered the Ropa Vieja lunch special and it so tasty! It came with two plantains, a side of avocado, salsa fresca and a cabbage mixture. For a lunch time special it was a decent size and the rice was a nice added sweetest to the dish. This place is always hopping and for good reason! Great authentic Panamanian food, atmosphere, and location! We met up with friends we knew in Panama when all of our dads were stationed there in our high school days. Corvina Ceviche was especially authentic - took me back 40 years to when we lived in Panama and my dad made it exactly like this - 1978 - the first time we ate "raw" fish! It's not raw - just cooked by lime juice and it's delicious!!! So fresh! Margaritas are delicious here as well as every dish we have tried on the menu - we've been a few times and have ordered several items, specials...all good! El Quatro Ceviche sampler was excellent as usual. The line up is like having an appetizer(Mixto), a salad(Mango Mahi), a main course(Corvino)and dessert(Langoustina. De Coco). Amazing stuff with the plaintain tortillas as a delivery method. I usually share this with my wife for lunch, however, my wife wanted to have one of the dinner plates, and what a choice she made. Blackened Scallops and Slow Roasted Pork Belly, cilantro mashed potatoes, red pepper guajillo cream and queso fresco. A beautiful dish. I tried to concentrate on my 4 course meal, but hers looked so good I had to have a bite. Scallop with cream sauce was incredible. The pork belly, tender and flavorful. She managed to eat it all despite me eyeing it frequently...lol The Jovino Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley Oregon was the perfect accompaniment with our meal. Juicy and fresh with a slight plum flavor and a nice mouth feel. Light enough for a warm day and warm enough for a cool day. Excellent stuff. read more

Wow how have we not seen this place until now? Busy on a Friday but we got a high top table in the bar. Mojito well made and my husbands 1888 was fantastic-smooth and slightly sweet rum Old Fashion. Guacamole was fresh, chips a little over salted. Ropa Vieja was delicious-great flavors served with fried plantains. I had the chicken and rice- really enjoyed-great flavor, tender, rice perfectly done. Portions large enough to have split. Dessert must have - Spanish beignets! Melt in your mouth amazing. Ceviche's came highly recommended by my friend who grew up in Wrightsville and is my fav place for fresh seafood in the area! I highly recommend the ceviche sampler, which offers a small/moderately size portion of each of their four ceviches. The group favorite was the langoustine, although we enjoyed all of them. The restaurant is great especially for small groups, but if you're visiting at peak season (pre-Labor Day) with group of 4+ people, consider making a reservation to avoid a 1+ hour wait. read more

We read about this restaurant in Our State magazine so we tried it out during a trip to Wilmington. I love the tropical decor and cool vibe of the restaurant. The plants and ambience are perfect and the only thing missing is the beach. We made lunch reservations and I am glad we did because the hostess was only seating those with reservations and others went to the bar. They have a lunch menu and I saw most of the items on the dinner menu. We had a mixto ceviche with scallops and shrimp (yum) , along with pollo empanadas. The citrus cream sauce was the left for accompaniment. For entrees we had the arroz con pollo and the ropa vieja. I loved the coconut rice and flavor of the beef. The lunch prices are reasonable and I only noticed the dinner prices when the server accidentally charged the dinner prices for lunch. I really enjoyed our Panamanian lunch and tropical experience right here in NC. read more

I was speechless after my meal! WHAT AN AMAZING LITTLE PLACE! All of the locals mentioned that I should go here and I'm glad that I did. It's a must when in Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach area. Enjoyed the Langoustine De Coco, Lobster and Coconut Milk ceviche (they were out of the Corvina, which is the specialty) as a starter with a nice margarita that was recommended by the server. Comes with chips and is SO delicious. I practically drank every drop of the marinade! Had the Jamaican Jerk Shrimp for my entree and it was delicious. Skewers of shrimp over a bed of coconut rice. The pickled cabbage was such a nice contrast to the spicy shrimp and made for an excellent meal. Finally, you just can't skip dessert! We heard a lot about this place not only from Diners Drive Ins and Dives but from locals. I am so glad we tried it. The food and ceviche was exceptional. My wife had the black bean empanada and I had the langostino ceviche, we tried the yuca frite and the roasted Brussel sprouts for appetizers. The flan was spot on and very traditional. The server was very informative and gave us good suggestions. The ambiance was lively but comfortable enough that you could have a conversation without shouting. My family and I were blown away when we dined here. We made a reservation here to celebrate 3 birthdays. We received phenomenal service and gee dessert for each of us with birthdays - what a nice touch! We started with appetizers - ceviche sampler, guacamole, and empanadas. All were delicious! Those two selections made us comfortably full but we wanted to try more so we ordered the Coconut Shrimp. Once again, that selection exceeded our expectations. A great spot near Wrightsville Beach. I came in for lunch and they had great specials, including tacos. So I opted for the blackened mahi mahi and jerk shrimp taco. It also came with a side of coconut rice. I liked both tacos but my favorite was the jerk shrimp taco. It was filled with flavor and a little touch of spice. The mahi mahi taco was good too, very simple. I didn't care too much for the coconut rice as it was undercooked and didn't have much flavor. Overall, I think the meal was good though. It's a small restaurant and you are able to seat yourself which is convenient. The service was great and the staff is very attentive and welcoming. This place is a 5/5 for service, atmosphere, drinks, and food! A few of us sat outside and enjoyed the Ceviche Sampler. Highly recommend on your first visit so you can try a bit of everything. We shared some coconut shrimp that was crispy, a bit of a kick, and thoroughly delicious. You can even taste the shrimp, it's not overpowered by the sauce.The Ceviche sampler came with tortilla chips,plantains, and 4 different kinds of ceviche. The plantains and chips both paired well with each ceviche. As someone who doesn't like cilantro I still really liked all of the flavors. My favorite was the sea bass, I will be ordering that next time! Finally, we got 2 orders of the empanadas, chorizo goat cheese and carne. They were both great but the chorizo goat cheese may be an acquired taste. We had a few gin cucumber drinks. They were not overly sweet but still refreshing. Three of us split all of that and were full. Our server was attentive and informative. Even though we ate outside the inside was super cute too. Recommend a reservation if planning to check it out! We are visiting Wilmington and wanted to go to a good seafood restaurant and Ceviche's was perfect! We were seated right away in the outdoor patio area. It was super cute. The service was amazing. Our water was never empty and they were constantly checking in on us. The waitress was super nice and friendly which made the whole experience even better. The food was unmatched. We started off with the mango ceviche and the salsa tasting platter. The mango ceviche was incredible, it was so fresh and delicious. We got a large and it was a good size. The salsas were all impeccable but my favorite was the pineapple one. We also tried the yucca fries which were enjoyed and the sauce was superb. Then for our main dishes I got the arugula salad and it was great, I highly highly recommend. We also got the scallops and pork belly dish which was a favorite because the pork belly just melted to your mouth and the scallops were top notch. We also got the shrimp, with the sauce on the side because it was actually quite spicy. We got fried oysters and they were great plus the sauce was perfect with them. It is rare that you leave a restaurant feeling that every single item was delicious. Best mojito and guacamole of my life. The guacamole trio is regular, mango and goat cheese. Incredible! Had a shrimp ceviche and a multilayered fish special, which we shared. Finally, 4 beignets with compote for dessert--the best outside of New Orleans--for just $7.
