I needed a simple repair of changing the spout for my bathtub because the diverter had gone bad. I…read morerequested a quote from several plumbers. All responded fairly quick (within an hour) and I had given enough information and pictures so they all knew exactly what was needed. I received quotes all the way up to 175/hour plus parts to 225 parts included. Others even wanted to come by and charge me to look at the job to quote me (which they said the fee would be waived if I used them for the job after..but seriously?). Mark responded to call him and leave him a voicemail explaining I had contacted him via a message and he would call me back. He called back within 10 minutes of me leaving the message and spoke to me on the phone. He thanked me for the detailed pictures and asked if I was handy at all as this was a very simple job and he didnt want me to pay a large sum for such a simple job. He said he would come if I still wanted him to but explained everything I would have to do and where to go get the parts. He even said if I get stuck I can call him to come over. The part was cheap around 20 dollars and the work involved seems super simple (I watched some videos on youtube on how to do this). I havent fixed it yet as I am waiting for the part but i am confident now thanks to his information and knowing I can call him if I need him to come for the job. Its hard to find good contractors for work such as this and I am keeping his number for any future jobs.

Mark is a great plumber with an extensive history of experience and is your "go to" local plumber…read morefor all your residental needs. He is generally very helpful with knowledge and good with talking through planned permit work or a good story to boot. He just recently installed the final touch for a whole home portable backup generator at my home, a new 3/4in gas line basement run to supply the generator (or maybe a deck grill someday), the inspector was very accomodating and approved the work quickly! He has also previously helped with regular maintenance like water heater anode rod replacement and a few gate to ball valve replacements for leaky or seized water valves. See photos below of the gas line connection and whole home portable backup generator setup. Apparently it's "unusual" here in MA to have whole home portable backup power (Costco bargain!), everyone is told a $15k concrete slab generator is the minimum, at least, that is what Castle Electric said to me! Do it yourself for a 1/3rd of the cost with Marks help and skip the upselling from the "other" options out there!

I think this is my first review that isn't positive on Yelp…read more But I feel like I was just ripped off. Basically, Aundrey came here for less than one hour and cleaned the dust off the the coils of both of my air conditioners for $650 and didn't even complete the job. He did not have a wet/dry vac so he used mine. He did not bring a ladder so he used mine. He did not provide replacement filters. Breakdown of the cost: From the invoice- 'Service call fee covers technician's trip to the job site, including travel time and transportation costs.' I asked Aundrey where he came from. He said from the office which is right here in Newton. 2.6 miles. 8 minutes. = $150 First Air Conditioner: He diagnosed it immediately. Then he cleaned the coils with a brush and he used my vac as well. Look, I have no problem with him using my equipment. I just never had a worker not have his own tools. I had already bought a new filter for this air conditioner so he didn't have to replace it. Total time, about 15 minutes. = $250 Second Air Conditioner which is in the attic. There is nothing in the attic but the air conditioner unit and we do not go up there ever. You need a ladder to get up there. Aundrey didn't have one. He used one of mine. Same problem. Also, This unit needed a new filter as well and it's a different size than the one downstairs. Aundrey left it without a filter and gave me the size of the filter I should get so that I can install it myself. Again, I can't get up in the attic because I'm physically limited. So my air conditioner is currently running right now with no filter. So, he cleaned the coils for about 20 minutes and left the job undone. = $250. Invoice: $150 Travel Time and Transportation costs. $250 Coil Cleaning and installing a filter that I provided. $250 Coil Cleaning and leaving the unit without a filter _________ $650 Oh, and this nonsense about them getting back to you in 10 minutes, it's an automatic text that tells you to call them. I called after I didn't hear from them for an hour or so. That's a big sum when Aundrey took an hour total including his drive time of 8 minutes and the gas he must have used to go 2.6 miles and then not finish the job while using my tools.
