I came by for lunch. between my dining partner and I, we ordered: scallion oil pork chop with dry noodles - basically a portion of dry instant noodles with 2 generous pork chops on top with scallion oil. Solid, and a ton of meat. Meat slightly too dry but still good. Noodles were nice texture. Soup noodle with chicken and pork chop - it was a build-your-own meal and we choose pork chop and chicken. Comes with a bowl of soup instant noodles. The pork chop was same as the one above. The chicken was a whole chicken thigh. Chicken was good. flavourful and well cooked. Soup noodles were fine but got soggy as they always do over time. Side of scrambled eggs with toast - eggs were good. Nice soft cook on it. Came with the noodle bowl as a combo. 2 drinks. All that for $31 all-in and we couldnt finish it between 2 people. Food is a solid 4/5. Service is as you'd expect for a food court stall. People were friendly enough but theyre super busy so they move you along. This is in the President Plaza food court so its definitely dated but totally fine for a simple budget meal. I came to this food stall on a Sunday. They were closed. I happened to find out that it was opened on Sunday these days. I bought my favourite satay beef with vermicelli. This was one of the items on their all day breakfast menu. It also came with scrambled eggs, toasts and a cup of beverage. Everything tasted so well, so balanced, and so on point! The OG discount HK food court booth in the President Plaza food court. This booth is tucked away at the very back, around the corner. Look for the lineup. Parking is available in the parkade next to the building. Staff are very quick and efficient. Just bark out your order and get out of the way. Their dishes are great comfort food. Cheap and tasty. We only came here for one thing---Scallion Oil Pork chop over Dried Noodles. It was so good. It came with a drink, so we got Honey Lemon. It was so refreshing. We were on a food crawl, so we shared one dish. It's on the 2nd floor food court at President Plaza. There's a central space filled with tables and surrounded by maybe 7 stall counters. A very affordable fast casual HK style cafe located in President Plaza at the food court on the 2nd floor. It is a bit hard to find as the spot is located near the end of the food court, but you cannot miss the line. There's a fairly long line around 1pm Saturday, about 15 minutes, but with the amount of delicious choices in the menu, it took around that much time for us to land on what we want to get. We got the ham and thick egg sandwich, meal set B (satay beef with instant noodles (+$1 surcharge) which came with toast and more eggs and a drink), and the siu mai very spicy. For the drinks, we got the HK milk tea hot and the yin yang (HK milk tea with coffee). All of this was around $30CAD for a fairly filling meal - hard to find in most places these days. The ham and thick egg sandwich hits the spot despite fairly basic ingredients. The sandwich is buttery and the egg is quite runny and smooth. The meal set B has very flavorful and tender satay beef and the instant noodles hit the spot for comfort food. I'd have wished the noodles to be cooked a bit more al dente. The toast and eggs were also quite buttery and cooked perfectly. The siu mai is decent. It's not the pork siu mai you get in dim sum but more of fish ball siu mai. The very spicy is not spicy at all - just think of it as Cantonese level of spiciness which is fairly tame compared to Sichuan. I took off an additional star because there was a big hiccup on the order - it took average 10 min for the buzzer to be on and they gave us the wrong order, so we ended up waiting an extra 10 min to get the correct order without any apologies or a little extra of something. This HK style breakfast spot is busy with a ton of locals around. I came around 9/10am in the morning and was supervised to see the whole floor packed with people. I've tried the stalls around this stand before to great success and this time felt a bit more like exploring - which led me to this place I ordered the number 2 combo which also came with a drink. I chose the yin yang which featured a tea-coffee mix which was not sweet but pretty good. The eggs were well cooked, just on the boarder of runny and firm. Fresh off a trip to Hong Kong, I was itching to try Cha Kee to see how they compared. I arrived just after 9am and the food court area was quiet - easy to grab a table and no line up. I ordered the all day set B and upgraded to instant noodles, with a hot honey lemon as my drink. They gave me a buzzer and I started reading while waiting... So engrossed I didn't realize quite 15-20 mins had passed and my buzzer still hadn't gone. Luckily, the sweet cashier came looking for me and said my lucky buzzer wasn't charged so it didn't go off when they rang it. 5/5 customer service! On to the food - set B is the satay beef on noodles. I felt it was quite salty although the beef itself was tender and not chewy/no tendons at all. The eggs, which I asked for scrambled, were cooked 5/5 for Vancouver standards - silky and mostly soft. But if I had to compare to HK, it was a step below as it was a tad more overcooked than what I was served overseas. The toast was also barely toasted - would have appreciated a more obviously crunchy solid toast whereas this one was mostly just plain white bread. Honey lemon tea was fine - hot and not overly sweet. By the time it was 10am, the food court was packed with people and and there was a long lineup at Cha Kee. If you want to get a seat and eat comfortably, you'd best be there latest 930am! Overall a solid choice and would return if I'm in the area before 930am, though I might try the pork chop instead as that seemed pretty popular as well. Holy moly this place was good! I went in without too many expectations but the chicken thigh was perfectly crispy in the outside while tender and soft inside. The eggs were smooth and creamy and perfect. Even the coffee was just the right amount of strong. A few tips: 1. Cash only (or e-payments, but as a tourist from America I didn't have that). I had to run to an ATM across the street. 2. The menu is in Chinese with the English translations written in really faint and light letters underneath. You essentially won't have a chance to look at the menu in line if you don't read Chinese, so look up what you want ahead (or do what I did and panic order something when you get to the front - it'll probably still be delicious) 3. A solid 4.5 star offering authentic Hong Kong style breakfast and tea. We arrived on a Thursday morning and there were no lines at all and we ordered the satay beef instant noodles, macaroni with ham, and the Swiss sauce chicken noodles. This is as authentic it can get. The satay beef noodles definitely hits the spot as it tastes exactly what you get in Hong Kong. Noodles were al dente. However, I feel the beef could be a little more tender as it was a little dry to my liking. For $14 CAD, you get your bowl is decent portion of satay noodles, plus and side of toast and eggs and a hot drink (need to add additional $1.5-2 for cold drinks) and this is a steal compared to what we get in nyc. Not to mention nothing is comparable taste wise. The eggs were a highlight as it was moist, creamy and fluffy. Their milk tea was strong in tea flavor yet smooth and not too sweet. The chicken in the Swiss sauce noodles were perfectly cooked as it was moist, tender and flavorful. I cannot comment on the macaroni with ham as my kids devoured it and didn't leave any for me to try but my son is a foodie and claims it's the best one he's had in awhile. Staff were super nice and efficient and food came out quickly. It is cash only and they are closed on Sundays (found out the hard way as I attempted to go back on a Sunday to try other items on the menu). It is in a food court and although it was easy for us to find a table since we went on a weekday, I have heard it gets really busy on weekends. We wanted to try somewhere new (to us) for HK bfast while in Richmond, so decided to check out Cha Kee. I had higher expectations given the good reviews, but was sadly a bit disappointed. Cha Kee is located in the President Plaza food court. We got there around noon on a Monday, and there were only a few people in line ahead of us. Sadly and unexpectedly, they were sold out of pineapple buns (and no mention of more being made?). We ended up getting satay beef instant noodles and scrambled egg toast. They were both good and satisfied our HK bfast cravings. The Hong Kong milk tea was good too - maybe the best thing from here! Customer service was extremely rude though, not just to my husband and I, but also to my mother in law who spoke Chinese (their native language) to them.. makes me not want to go back just for that reason. Before you attack me, I'm not saying it's bad, just nothing special - Maybe I just didn't order the correct items that is giving everyone the wow factor. It can get pretty crowded here - as it's a food court setting - so can also get quite noisy. People will be eyeing your table like a hawk - in some cases they will just sit at your table - without asking if the seat is taken lol... The instant noodles tasted like instant noodles, the satay beef was pretty dry for me, and didn't have much flavor. - toast is toast. The Eggs however was very tasty. - lemon tea seemed to be missing sugar - I'm assuming i might have just had a bad batch as majority had amazing experiences. - will find a time to give them a second chance. read more

Located in the President Plaza, Cha Kee is a popular casual HK style spot. When we arrived smack in the middle of lunch time on a holiday, there was a line that wrapped around the corner and down the next corridor. Don't let that deter you though, the line moves fast. We waited till we were about to be up to place our order before seeing out a table. Given the busy day, it took a good ~15 mins for us to get our food. It was well worth the wait tho, made it all so much better! The satay beef instant noodles hit the spot; both nostalgic and tenderly delicious! The scrambled eggs was done just right - moist but not watery - and both the pineapple bun and toast were very good, nice & chewy. We also got HK milk teas; they were good but we prefer ours with condensed milk, which wasn't the way they make theirs here. The satay beef instant noodles meal was a good deal too; as one of the all-day breakfast meals, it came with egg & toast, and a small milk tea, all at the very reasonable price of CAD$14. Worthy of the hype and line up. Amazing traditional hk bfast right in the golden triangle. Growing up , i went to hk at least 2x a yr as my dad had some biz interest there. We would always eat by the food stalls and in hk cafes drinking milk tea and having a good culinary experience. This place by presidents plaza food court is as real as it gets. They also boast of their claypot brewed milk tea. Their combos are very affordable and you get so much food. The satay beef with instant noodle(+1) was amazing. Maybe almost leaning towards curry flavours but very good. Soup was tasty and not bland. Beef was tender and marinated well. The pineapple bun is one of the best. Fresh out of the oven at 930am ( i was there early) and its aroma singing in the air. But the highlight here was the silky smooth eggs. Perfectly perfectly made. At least 3 eggs j that order for sure. Gordon ramsey would be proud of these eggs. So light and fluffy and delicately made by a master chef. The entire combo except for the pineapple bun only costs $13. The milk tea was excellent. Silky smooth and strong, just the way i like it. All the flavours in the claypot clearly coming thru. I could drink gallons of that. Tip: arrive early on the weekends. A line up usually starts at 9am. Yes, people come from all over just to savour their dishes. Little hole in the wall. Was in Richmond for work and my gf recommended this place as it was on her list for a while. I'm always down for HK style breakfast, it just warms the soul from the inside out. Upon arriving at the stall, you just knew right away that they were known for the thick egg sandwich and the milk tea were the must-haves. We also got one of their daily specials (pork chop on rice). Since they are one of the most popular stalls in this food court there is a bit of a wait to order and pick up food. We arrived 10 minutes prior to opening (930 am) on a Saturday and there was already a line. Once they opened, we waited for another 20 minutes or so before we were able to place our order. We tried a variety of food: satay beef noodle, scallion oil chicken cutlet, original flavor chicken, pineapple bun, pineapple bun sandwich with satay beef and scrambled eggs, iced milk tea, hot milk tea, as well as their buttered toast and scrambled eggs. What we all liked was the scrambled eggs which was creamy and rich, as well as the original flavored chicken. We all found the rest a miss and too salty. The satay beef we found it to be weird as it was basically a curried-satay beef. We prefer the typical satay beef that we've been getting at other HK cafe places. The scallion oil chicken was also very salty because of the sauce. The milk tea was not very rich as we've had better ones elsewhere. The rest was just mediocre and salty. Both the price and portion was decent; however, we won't be coming here again. There was a lot of effort taken in order to dine in. First we waited for an hour in total and our friends took a long time looking around for tables as the food court was essentially a zoo during breakfast hours. The tea is unsweetened so make sure add some sugar. As for the food, we got the satay beef over soup macaroni. It was alright. The beef is soft and has a mild satay taste. The chicken cutlet was better, as it's fried and has a nice fragrance from the scallion oil. We got the cutlet with instant noodles which is pretty good when mixed with the scallion oil. I love hong kong food so when I saw this place on tiktok I had to try it! Their prices are truly unbeatable, for less than $8 cad you get a hefty portion of food. Their drinks were hovering around $4 cad. I couldn't decide between the pineapple satay bun and egg sandwich so I had both! I definitely prefer the egg sandwich though because of how fluffy the eggs were. It filled me up before I got to try the pineapple satay bun. TLDR: It's like eating in Hong Kong. That is the highest praise I can give to a HK Cafe place. Enough said! Oh, you want more? ok sure... This place is in a food court, ALL the way in the back, closest to the bathrooms. Despite its bad location and small size, the place was still hopping even at 2p, when all other places are pretty much empty. So my wife ordered the spicy pork cube noodle breakfast combo. For the cheap price of just $14, you get the noodle soup, plus the runny scrambled eggs and two slices of toast and a drink. I think that's a GREAT deal to be honest. And those runny eggs are JUST like those in HK. When I asked my wife how her meal tasted, all she said was, "Tastes like Hong Kong". I ordered the green onion fried pork chop. Now it's not nearly as juicy as the pork chop we got from Seasons in the Park, but this was nonetheless pretty tasty. It's different. Yeah a little dry, but it was pan-seared so it was crunchy, and it had a LOT of flavor from the green onions and sweet soy. It tasted REALLY good. It came on a bed of rice, and a drink as well. For both dishes, it only cost $29. And both filled us up very well. I don't know why they don't serve this kind of food in the bay area.
