Ordered from Mambo cafe multiple times in the past and the quality of the food and milk tea (hot/cold) have been pretty consistent, as it's my go to whenever I visit Aberdeen centre. This time, I ordered the baked chicken cutlet on rice, with a cold milk tea. The default sauce for baked dishes unless specified is the tomato sauce, and mambos is definitely on the sweeter side compared to other HK cafes. The chicken was very tender but lack a crunchiness to it. The baked rice tasted pretty standard (rice with egg in it), nothing that will amaze you but a taste that you'll be used to if you've had baked rice before. The milk tea is decently strong and creamy, and on the sweeter side. I recommend ordering less sweet if you want a stronger tea flavour.
XO seafood fried rice is soooo good... lots of tender scallops, shrimp, squid and fish with roasty toasty XO sauce flavor mmm... pork over rice had way too much sweet tomato sauce to rice ratio.. it was just ok
Got a bitter melon with beef rice along with a spaghetti dish with beef. It was okay. Cash only. It is around $14 CAD for a dish. If you wanted a cup with water, they charge 50cents a cup. Really!?

Remember, baked items take longer for them to make so with lineup to order + waiting for food, it could take almost 30min so plan ahead. For +$1 more, you can add on a drink to most dishes. We normally get their iced lemon tea but its just ok, there's definitely other places in the food court that does this better. Tip: If you don't have cash (they are cash only) or you want to preorder so you don't have to wait there, they are on Fantuan. But it is about $1 more to order via the app than in person.

I ordered their PORK CUTLET ON RICE WITH TOMATOE sauce and their COLD LEMON TEA Food is good. The lemon tea isn't super sweet like some places. It has the just right amount of sweetness. The pork cutlet is crispy and not dry. The tomatoe sauce is ok. I'm not a huge fan of it. It doesn't have enough "tomatoe" taste to it it's a little bit sweet but not too sweet. Overall I was happy with my meal. The portion is just enough :)
Delicious HK Style cafe! Had been here many times before and always ordered the Pork Chop and Chicken Steak on Rice 香煎鴛鴦扒飯. It's served with gravy and corn with diced carrots. It has been consistent throughout these years so far.
Mambo Cafe is not to be missed when you're in Aberdeen, why? Their food is fresh, delish and cheap that I can satisfy HK cafe craving (eg.baked pork chop or Portuguese chicken on rice). Pork chop comes out baked with rice inside, whereas Portuguese chicken comes with rice and sauce in separate containers. Their Baked Porkchop is a must try on the menu. I really liked Portuguese Chicken Rice it can feed for 2 meals as I have a small appetite. A guy can eat it all and never feel hungry afterwards. Iced Tea is pretty good as well. If you're worried about portion control make sure you take half home for lunch. I had Portuguese Chicken Rice on my recent visit and it was troublesome finishing all the food on my own (plus the staff gave me too much rice when I asked for less rice). Bortsht soup is 50 cents once you order your food there. I'd love to try their soup next time.
One of my go to spots at the Aberdeen food court. Cash only! I ordered the baked seafood rice with iced milk tea. The dish took a while to be ready so feel free to walk around until your number is called!
This food court restaurant has curry lamb brisket! Big yum! The order came with a good amount of rice in a separate container. The bowl of lamb curry was just spicy enough to hurt a lot of people but perfect for me, it could have stood to have a little more salt but hell , salts supposed to be bad for you so what the heck. I'm starting to find a lot of food courts in the malls and in the supermarkets. Good deal on great food here in vancouver.
Great place for cheap HK style cafe food. I tried the baked pork chop on rice and the curry beef on rice with an iced milk tea. The baked pork chop seems quite popular here. It's freshly made, very hot and the portion is big. The pork chops do come with bones though. The curry beef was also pretty good but I thought the flavour was more on the mild side but still delish and I can't really complain since it's in the food court. Would recommend for comfort food!
This place has the BEST HK style baked pork chops with rice. Well to be fair, that's the only thing I order from them. The wait is never too long (about 10-15 mins) but it's so worth it! I always order to-go. The sauce, meat and rice were well portioned. And their milk tea was good too!
I tried almost every food stall at aberdeen and this was one I tried a long time ago so today I was craving fried food and thought I would give it a go again. I remember I used to get the fish and chips here and I really liked it. However, this time I got the pork cutlet with rice. I was kind of disappointed because nothing was good in this meal. The sauce was really bland and the pork cutlet was really tough to chew. Overall not really worth the money in my opinion. The good thing is that the wait was short even though it was a busy evening.
Whenever we go to St. Germaine bakery at Aberdeen, somehow we always ended up at their food court. Food court is bright with a high ceiling and gives off a modern vibe, even quieter than some dim sum restaurants. Baked pork chop rice at Mambo is a regular for me...a lil on the sweet side still good fo$15 Stir fried satay beef noodles from Leung Kee is the other order, a lil wok hei with decent amount of beef. Mambo Cafe has got to be one of the busiest stalls at the Aberdeen food court. After seeing the crowds of patrons and the employees frantically packing orders non-stop, I felt confident in choosing Mambo Cafe for dinner. Not wanting to choose anything particularly heavy, I ordered the Luncheon Meat & Egg on Macaroni in Soup. I would normally choose something with a bit more of a challenge to cook, but comfort food was calling. After waiting in queue for a while, I received my food and was very excited to dig in. My first taste of the dish was soup only and I was incredibly disappointed by the fake taste - the broth was obviously not cooked the traditional way with real meat. The egg was cooked fine and the macaroni was good, but there was nothing about this dish that elevated it beyond something you could get in a grocery store aisle. I'd revisit Mambo Cafe and give it another try with a different menu choice. read more

Came here for some HK-cafe goodness. Parking in Aberdeen is available, but horrendous, as you probably know. I had the pork chop instant noodle soup, and a cold lemon tea. The dish was quite reasonable, at $6.50. Soup was nothing special (think of what you get at most wonton places), but did the job. The pork was done well, and wasn't soggy. Overall it was on the plain side, but this is comfort food. Hit the spot. The drink was decent in a typical way. read more

Mambo Café offers a variety of HK food - from rice dishes to fried noodles to curries to baked entrées to sandwiches. They used to come with a soup or hot drink but now there is an additional cost of $0.50 for hot drinks and $1 for cold drinks. I've tried their curries and they are good. But my main dish I order is the Baked Macaroni with Bolognese Sauce. The wait can be from 10-20 minutes depending on how busy they are but it always comes piping hot. The sauce is sweet and savoury with lots of baked cheese and pieces of ground meat. The macaroni is al dente too. I really enjoy their milk tea too because they are one of the only places that have a very strong tea flavour. Overall, Mambo is great to satisfy your HK Café cravings. Cash Only! read more

I love coming here specially for this. Out of all the places I've eaten at in Vancouver this has the best spam and egg sandwich at a killer deal of ($5.75) with a drink! * There sandwich here is definitely an amazing one. The sandwich is huge, and super filled! The crust if cut off and even then the shape isn't squished nor is it small and flimsy. I prefer mine not toasted, as I like the softness when you bit into it! The egg is the perfect combination with the sandwich, and it's cooked perfectly. Not too over cooked where it's dry and not too undercook where it's slimy. Perfect ratio of in between. The meat itself is good too. I prefer spam and it had 2 nicely cut pieces of spam on each side! (Many places cheap out on it, luckily not here!). * The iced lemon tea is included in the combo, and it's delicious I asked for not too sweet and it was the perfect ratio! And they use 2-3 lemon pieces instead of 1-2 which is nice. * I love coming here for their spam and egg sandwich and I'll continue to do so forever haha. -------------------------- read more
I could eat at the food court in Aberdeen mall every day of my life, and I would be perfectly fine. There is so much good food there at great prices, and so different from the usual Subway, KFC, etc. Mambo cafe is my go to place, as they have Cantonese style food cooked fresh to order. Literally everything I've had tastes great, from the curry to the chicken to the beef. This time I got the beef satay, while my friend got the fish and chips. The beef was great, really tender and the portions were big as usual. The fish and chips were surprisingly good as well, with 2 large pieces and a plate full of fries. The fish was also nicely coated and not to oily. Paired with their classic iced lemon tea, how can I not love this place? read more
Aberdeens foodcourt is definitely one of the nicer ones here in Richmond, and IMO it beats Parker place that's just down the street. There's always a bunch of good Cantonese style (mostly Hong Kong cha chaan teng) food options and Mambo is one of them! This place was pretty busy (probably the second longest line up after Bubble Waffle cafe) when I was there. I ended up getting the beef tomato egg on rice with a cold lemon tea. The food was pretty tasty although I would like to have seen a little bit more sauce on the rice, especially for $12 bucks. Pricing is however comparable to the other restaurants in the foodcourt. Overall, great place for a quick meal. Definitely should at least try going here once. You may be able to get better food at a full restaurant, but for a food court this is definitely one of the better options I would say. read more

If you go on the weekends, be prepared to wait. The Baked Pork Chop, as mentioned in other reviews, is great! Not the best mind you, but pretty impressive for a food court. The pork is huge, and the sauce is tangy/sweet. I also tried the Yuan Yeng fried rice, which wasn't fried rice at all, but just plain white rice, with a cheese/tomato sauce drizzled on top. The portion was large, but it tasted really bland. read more

2.5* It's good for food court food and good value. But still missing maximum flavour that you will get at diner hk cafes 8.50$ gets you a full meal and drink. You'll be stuffed. read more

Worst service ever and waited over 30mins for one simple noodle dish. They took later orders earlier than ours and it was not explained. There weren't that many people ahead of us. Very unreasonable. Will never go again. read more

My favourite stand at Aberdeen foodcourt with wide variety of HK cafe style food. They have the most consistent Hong Kong style drinks compare to other stalls and also has a bigger cup. One of my favourite dish in HK style cafe is baked pork chop on rice and In my honest opinion, mambo cafe knocks it out of the ball park. The sauce is perfect and it's with fried rice. Their consistency is always on point with their food. I have been coming here for past 3 years just for their baked pork chop on rice. Price got a little more expensive with a steady $0.50-$1.00 over the years however it's still the best baked pork chop on rice in Vancouver. Comes up to $11.05 now with a big drink, but it's still better than the HK style cafe restaurants out there in Vancouver. read more
