    Haven't visited this restaurant in awhile so I decided why not dine here for some HK food. My family and I were heading to Sing Cafe before changing our mind to go to Silver Tower Restaurant. We ordered L9 Laksa ($16.75), K10 Malaysian Char Quay Teow ($16.75), and D4 Baked Porkchop Cutlet on Rice ($16.75) with milk tea, coffee and lemon iced tea. Porkchop was good. Laksa and Char Quay Teow were disappointing. Laksa had tons of noodle with less soup. It tasted blend. As for Char Quay Teow, it wasn't the usual noodle dish we had elsewhere. It was some panfried curry noodle instead of the usual stirfried Char Quay Teow. This place used to be good 10 years ago. Dishes tasted quite bland. My family weren't too excited about the food as well.

    The biggest perk of this place is that it closes at 1:30am. We went here after a late night and I got the half Hainanese chicken ($23.50) which came with rice and a daily soup. For the soup, I chose Russian borscht. The chicken was really yellow so I had doubts going in, but it turned out tasting great! It was authentic, served quite chilled and the flavours really seeped into it. They also gave a generous amount of ginger/green onion dip. Only complaint I had was the thicker cuts of chicken were a bit dry. The soup was also great, it was kind of viscous and had a very strong tomato flavour. Overall, I thought it was a pretty good deal considering they gave half a chicken + the soup and rice. Would come here again for a late night meal!

    Recommended by tiktok and decided to go try it as a HongKonger (would be more critical to my own cuisine) HK french toast - super delish, you can decide on how much syrup or butter you want on the toast and toast itself was crispy with more gooey butter inside HK lemon tea - wish I could pour in the syrup myself it was a tad bit too sweet for me but it's really similar to the real thing 乾炒牛河pan fried beef with flat rice noodles - beef is super tender and not too oily (compared to this dish's standards cuz it's meant to be oily) 焗豬扒飯 Baked pork on tomato sauce rice - docked some points off bc I wish there was more sauce to mix into the rice later on. There's a generous amount of pork and the sauce was really good Borscht soup - tastes a bit water down, wish there's beef or tomato in it

    One of the best HK-style cafe food I've ever had in Vancouver. Inside was nice and bright. Rows filled with happy customers and appetizing food. Came here with a really special friend who recommended me a tasty pork chop rice dish that was amazing!! The auntie servers were ALL super friendly and nice, so I HOPE they get raises and get tipped really well Will definitely come back again -- definitely recommend.

    Hong Kong style cafe food was what we wanted and that is what was delivered. Quickly seated and was told we were still in time for their daily special if we ordered quick enough and we make some quick choices. 1) Baked pork chop rice....great classic staple and tasted so good. hot, gooey and crispy. cant go wrong. 2) Bake seafood rice. coconutty sauce and fried rice along with plenty to seafood. i didnt like they used a bunch of fake crab meat though. they had some squid, shrimp and fish along with fake crab meat. please just stick with all seafood. 3) Curry lamb was pretty decent. whoever made it was definitely heavy handed when dealing with the curry powder. 4) Club sandwich - I liked this a lot and was pleasantly surprised with a fried egg which was a great combo! the Hong Kong style milk tea and the ice lemon tea were made well and overall left a great impression. I will definitely be back again for some good old fashion HK classics.

    I ordered take out for one item which was the Hong Kong style baked pork chop over rice. Service was very quick and the order was done and ready. She asked if I wanted a small or large order. I didn't know what the difference was, so ordered the large. It was a huge order and it could easily fed 2 people with the order. Planned on coming back but with some many options in the area, we did not get a chance. Maybe on my next trip to Vancouver. Bonus that they open late.

    A Cantonese friend from Richmond/Vancouver recommended this place as one of the go-to HK style cafes to check out. My first impressions of this place is that it is no-frills, food-focused experience than one with great ambience and service. While I have not been to Hong Kong yet, my friend mentioned that this is close to the authentic experience. We got the baked Portuguese chicken rice and the baked pork chop rice. From 11:00am-5:30pm and 9:00pm-close, there is a series of pages dedicated to discounted, "mini sets" items that have a steep discount compared to the "all day" menu. We were glad we ate an early dinner around 5pm, even though we weren't too hungry. These specials also come with a drink, which is almost nonexistent in the US with all the inflation going on, so that was a great surprise. We opted both for the cold HK style milk tea, which was decent. The baked Portuguese chicken rice has a good amount of chicken and rice, with some potatoes loaded in. It is somewhat creamy and well spiced, and even the "mini set" itself is already good enough for a large meal for one. The baked pork chop rice is my go-to item usually when I go to HK style cafes, and this one was done quite well. It is a little bit on the tangier side from the tomato sauce, and the cheese they used is not of great quality, but I can't really complain with the price they charged. The pork is lightly fried and quite flavorful, and the rice had great texture to it. There is not as much pork as there was the chicken in the baked Portuguese chicken rice, but both dishes were quite solid. The food was good enough that, because where I commuted from (Seattle), there isn't that strong of a HK cafe scene, so I decided to get a to-go order of the beef chow fun which had a decent amount of salt and not too much oil. I felt great after eating a bit of that for lunch the next day, as opposed to the dreaded heavy feeling I usually get after eating this dish at HK style cafes in the states so far. Service is decent as requests are fulfilled in a timely manner, but some attention to detail would be great. It took a while to flag the server down, noting that we have 3 people and there was only 1 plate and 2 sets of fork and spoons. Note that this place is cash only, which makes it even more authentic :)

    Food was alright, but service was not too friendly. Food: I ordered the baked pork chop rice which came with a free drink. The portion was alright but it had too many rice and too little meat and sauce. It seems to me that the pork chop was actually fried or deep fried instead of baked; it's almost like a pork katsu which was kinda disappointing. Service: As I was trying to figure out the tipping policy in Canada and getting familiarize with the Canadian coins, one of the staff walked over to me and said "you have to tip here". It's not until that she saw me looking at my coin that she walked away mumbling "oh, you are tipping in coins". I do understand that tipping could be a big part of their paycheck, but I still find it kind of rude the way she handled the situation. I feel like there's probably a better or more polite way of asking for a tip instead of telling the customers that they are required to tip.

    While having a family shopping day in the area, my parents wanted to stop and have an afternoon tea/snack at a HK Style Café somewhere along Richmond's Alexandra road. A random search for nearby places on my phone, and this place popped up in my search results. From the outside, the place is quite assuming. I was pleasantly surprised upon entering the restaurant; it looked like the place had recently undergone some renovations. Neat, clean, with all the expected COVID-related protocols and safeguards in place, and yes, they check your vaccine passport and ID cards quite closely). Since the timing was right, my parents and I shared a couple of mini-sets. These are always one of my favourite types of orders at any HK style café, a big reason being that a hot drink (coffee/tea) is usually included. We decided to share the staple Stir Fried Beef with Flat Noodles, and the Baked Basa Filet and Spinach on Rice in Cream Sauce. A slight hiccup when we tried to order local style coffees with our mini-sets, only to be told they only have HK style coffees. Oops! But the quick thinking waitress offered to serve us the coffee black, with the condensed milk served on the side. Turned out very well! My parents and I were quite happy with how the food turned out. Both dishes came out piping hot, a warm welcome on a nippy day like today. The Stir Fried Beef with Flat Noodles had just the right amount of oil (and was not dripping in grease). The Baked Basa & Spinach was coated with sauce that was creamy and not too salty, sitting on top of a bed of rice that had just the right amount of texture for me (not mushy but not overly hard). Summary of my impressions: a great salt-of-the-earth HK style café if you are looking for delicious dishes, and more than reasonable prices.

    Had lunch here today and the food was pretty good. We ordered the baked pork chop with rice and it was really good. The pork chops were crispy and the dish was very flavourful. Also ordered the beef brisket chow mein. The brisket was very tender and delicious. First time trying this dish and was pleasantly surprised. Service was lacking because there just isn't enough staff but staff are friendly ( just too busy).

    === 1. VERDICT/VALUE Prices have gone up over the years, but it's still a hidden gem of a HK-style cafe in Richmond. Not glamorous from the outside, but slight renovations on the inside and good food make Silver Tower a good choice for good eats! === 2. FOOD This review is based on recent takeout orders...drinks of your choice are $0.75 for the first drink and $1 for each subsequent drink. Ham & Mushroom Fried Instant Noodle ($17): simple, yet delicious! The mushrooms, red peppers, bean sprouts help too :) Mixed Mushrooms with Seasonal Vegetables ($16.95): the veg is bok choy sprouts at the moment and when it's all cooked with a little oyster sauce, it tastes pretty good with the included serving of rice! Chinese Mushroom with Seasonal Vegetables ($17): similar to the above dish, minus the sliced canned mushrooms :) Shrimp & Scallops with Broccoli ($18.95): a healthy portion of good-sized shrimp and scallops highlight this dish - but those who tend to avoid ginger may want to ask them to hold back on the shaved ginger spread throughout! Deep Fried Pork Chop with Rock Salt ($17.25): tender, as spicy as you would like to make it, and perhaps one of the better offerings of such in town! Stewed Wild Mushroom with Yee Mein ($17): it felt a little short on mushrooms, but the best part is that the noodles were not as oily as offerings from some other joints in town! Still a solid choice. === 3. SERVICE Based purely on three takeout orders, the service has been decent as expected from phone order to pickup. As usual, English, Cantonese, and Mandarin work well here. === 4. ENVIRONMENT The layout of the restaurant has remained the same, with COVID impacting which tables could be used for dining in. A bit of a renovation in recent years seems to have lightened up the place and in this reviewer's eyes, would make dining in more appealing. Wheelchairs and strollers would still work here, best engaged at the tables in the middle or in the front of the restaurant. Parking is always dicey in the complex's lot; however, going earlier in the evening (say, before 6:00 pm) tends to reveal better results.

    Food: Baked tomato & cream sauce on rice $13.50 - tastes pretty good and portions are decent for their late night mini sets. This also includes a drink and I got the honey lemon water although the extra charge is $1.25. Service: Went with a party of 13 at 9:30pm, reservations were made in advance however when we got there the table wasnt ready yet. It took 30 mins to get our order down cause there's only 2-3 servers and the restaurant was packed...luckily the food and drinks came quickly. Cleanliness: They use plastic dividers that they can roll around so then they can make adjustments for larger parties. QR code wasnt thoroughly checked probably because we were a larger party. Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back again since the food isn't bad even though the service was non existent (as expected for a HK cafe) It's a decent late night spot in richmond since they close at 1:30am.

Usual table service was in place. Took our order and food came out at acceptable pace. When we were done, they politely boxed up the leftovers and we paid our bill. So service was on point. The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. On a typical Sunday evening, the restaurant is usually fully occupied, but my friend had thoughtfully made a reservation a week in advance, so our table for five was ready upon arrival. As always, the restaurant was clean and well maintained, with good airflow thanks to the wide-open front entrance facing the parkade. The front desk receptionist greeted us cordially, and we were escorted to a cozy table in a comfortable location -- not too close to the washrooms, which I appreciated. Our meal began with the Kirin Special Assorted Cold Appetizer, followed by Crab Meat, Dried Scallops, and Fish Maw Soup. The soup arrived piping hot and was delicious, with a generous portion that could easily have served eight people. We also enjoyed Pea Tips Braised with Bean Curd and Assorted Mushrooms in Consommé, Marinated Free-Range Crispy Skin Chicken, Fillet of Cod Sautéed with Seasonal Vegetables, and Live Crab in Consommé with Ginger and Green Onion, served with E-fu Noodles. Overall, the quality and taste of every entrée were excellent. Service was top-notch -- tea and hot water were refilled constantly, bones and used plates were replaced promptly, and the servers were friendly and engaging throughout the evening. My friend and his family have apparently been regulars at this location for over two decades, which likely contributed to the exceptional attentiveness we received. However, one aspect of the experience genuinely disturbed me. All servers, including the captains, continued to wear masks at all times. While this practice was understandable two years ago, now -- five years after the onset of the pandemic, with COVID-19 managed similarly to other seasonal respiratory illnesses -- the continued universal masking in a fine-dining environment feels unnecessary and detracts from the overall guest experience. Fine dining, in my view as an avid foodie, is built on human connection, hospitality, and personal interaction. Masks create a more impersonal, almost clinical atmosphere. In a well-ventilated space like this, the environmental risk does not seem to justify the visual and social trade-off. Rather than providing reassurance, the persistent masking may unintentionally signal that the environment is unsafe or that management is out of step with current provincial health guidelines, where masking is now a personal choice rather than a mandate. Final verdict: Food & Service: 5/5 Ambience: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 -- as the current aesthetic feels more like a relic of 2020 than a leader in 2026 hospitality.

For example, the steamed rice rolls were very doughy. Other times, they were very dry. The items in D sometimes felt like they're frozen dim sum items sold at grocery stores. Service is a hit or miss depending on which server you get. Sometimes you get servers who come and refill tea and provides actual service.
