My husband and I decided to stop by for a quick snack yesterday at Chaat Paradise in Folsom. It was our first time visiting this establishment and we were happy with our visit. The set-up was simple. Order at the counter and find a table. Fast casual dining. Their menu was wide ranging - from paneer, dosa, paratha, curries, biryanis, korma, thali specials and more. We already ate a light lunch but wanted something to enjoy before dinner. We ordered the samosas and the pakora appetizer. We initially wanted just two orders of the samosas but the staff recommended mixing things up with the pakora! We took their advice and it was the best idea. The samosas were SO FLUFFY and delicious. So much richness and delicious in each bite. The mixed pakora were hands down the best that I've ever had. Less batter and more veggies. The chutneys / sauces were also a wonderful addition. I recently visited this place. Looks pretty unassuming from the outside; seating is ample inside but nothing much to write about in terms of decor. But their chaats and some food items are truly the authentic Punjabi flavor... and not the South Indian that other places sell. We ordered: Dahi papri: 5/5 Papri chaat: 5/5 (taste was great but size of papri was minuscule) Gol Gappay: 4/5 (mini gapay) Aloo paratha: 5/5 (awesome size and filling) Vada Pao: 5/5 Gobi manchurian: 3/5 (overly spicy and the gobi didn't taste that fresh) Thaali: 3.5/5 (the phulkay were great. Very delicious vegetarian Indian food! Every dish we tried had bold flavor and spices. We went on 2 different Sundays around noon and were served immediately. We ordered the food at the cashier register but paid there after we finished the meal. Both time, the friendly owner came out to greet us and explained the menu for us. This is our new favorite Indian restaurant in Folsom that we will surely visit frequently. - Samosa: very crispy. The fillings were nicely spiced and delicious. - Thali: every item tasted delicious! I usually don't like daal but their daal was tasty! (Not too salty & thicker soup). The paneer tika masala was very good. My kid finished it all although it was a bit spicy for him. Their thali is different every week that is perfect to try out different dishes in small portion. - Gobi manchurian: delicious bold flavor! The cauliflower pieces were perfectly cooked & not mushy. My only complaint was that it was a bit too salty. - Paneer tikka masala: delicious creamy gravy with a hint of sweetness & mildly spicy. There were generous amount of paneer pieces. This is my kid's favorite - Bindhi masala: this is the dry version of okra which is my hubby's favorite. It's quite rare to find the dry version at Indian restaurants but this one is SUPER GOOD! Great spot for authentic chaat! Restaurant is clean and has plenty of seating. Service is quick and accommodating. We ordered multiple chaat items! Highly recommend the chole bhature. Bhature is freshly fried and warm; chole has a delicious flavor and is spicy. Vada pav also tastes authentic and has ample chutney. Best tikka masala I've had in a long time! Service is very courteous and gracious. Food is authentic, delicious and so many vegetarian options. It's very clean and open and comfortable inside. Thali was very good. Particularly liked the dal and Mohan thaal. Sev usal was good and probably authentically spiced, but I found it a little spicy for me. We also packed chili paneer and bhindi for the go. They both tasted good but were way too oily and spicy. Will certainly highly recommend the thali. Staff is very friendly. read more

I'm really not happy with my experience at this restaurant. Hours: great hours. Food: incredibly delicious, but they messed up my order. Ambiance: feels sterile, boring, and the TV is playing very loud high treble music in mono causing huge headache. Time waiting: at least 20 min til I got the food. The details: I wanted a relaxing meal, and I love Indian food. I also love Mexican food topped with Tapatio, so I am no stranger to heat in a food, but it's more important to me to be able to taste it. So I showed up and ordered channa masala with garbanzo beans, MILD. 20 minutes later, I get my food and I dumped the rice onto the plate and then I dump the supposedly mild Chana masala on top and proceed to eat. Right off the bat it was hot, but not too hot. Spicy. I thought to myself that I could handle it, and that it is probably just the way the mild version of the dishes prepared for them, and the medium and spicy must be incredibly hot by comparison. So I'm eating for about 15 minutes, and I have barely gotten halfway through it, because it was so incredibly hot. I had to keep drinking water. The waiter comes over and asked if I ordered spicy or mild, I said mild. He told me it was spicy and cook made a mistake. So I had to wait another 10 minutes for them to prepare my food and by this time, I'm not hungry anymore, no appetite, the spices feel like they seared my tongue, and I just want to go home, and by this time I realize I already been at the restaurant for Farr longer than I should've been and I'm just really irritated at the amount of time wasted, and the discomfort of the experience , annoying music, incredibly spicy food, a headache, not even being able to taste the food, because it was so hot, and a receipt that clearly stated mild. So I get the replacement food to go, and they offered me a free drink, I declined, because I just wanted to go home Bottom line: I will recommend the place to people, but I'm really pissed off about this experience. I didn't get the experience that I want in my tongue still hurts and I still have a headache and now I have a stomach full of incredibly spicy food and a crap load of water to counter it, and I'm just miserable. The chef's kiss to all this? THEY DIDNT EVEN GIVE ME A SPOON FOR THE TO-GO REPLACEMENT FOOD. It's like being slapped in the face. read more

This is the kind of place I have been dreaming about find in Sacramento Area. A only Vegetarian/Vegan Indian food that is also authentic and very well spiced food. The food. Omg the food. Spectacular. The service was very friendly and the food came out fast. The kind Sir that took our order very kindly swapped out some items in the weekend special that weren't vegan for vegan options for me. Don't quote me on that he will do that every time. But if you ask nicely he might accommodate you too. Regardless they have so many fully vegan options that are very clearly marked. They definitely know what vegan is and we're very helpful. After our food came I asked for something hot and boooyyyyyyy did they come through. I'm pretty sure this guy grew these chilis inside a volcano because man were they H O T. So tasty. Just Wow on so many levels! Came in first first time, with a friend, we were not sure what to order, how to order etc. All the staff were so helpful, so knowledgeable. They gave us sample after sample. Then asked us spice levels. We took a seat (unknowingly) by the main entrance where cold air blew in. One of the staff had been watching us take a seat and after our first cold blast went and cleaned a table off, offering us warmer seating arrangements. Everything I've gotten has been absolutely delicious even if I don't always know what it's called. It comes with a variety of "mains", rice, roti, and a sweet item. Tried this place recently and I was very disappointed. We got the samosa chaat and it was only one small samosa with bunch of Chana masala and no chutney nothing. We also got the pani puri and that was also not tasty. The pani was super salty and had no flavor at all. Would probably never go here again. I placed a take-away order for: Samosas @ $5.49 (two crispy patties stuffed with potatoes and peas), Paneer Tikka Masala served with rice @ $12.99 (homemade cheese cooked in tomato cream sauce), Gulab Jamun @ $4.99 (deep fried cheese balls in sugar syrup), and Kheer @ $4.99 (creamy rice pudding with nuts). The wait time was less than 20 minutes, and my order was packaged nicely and secure for my car ride home. Both were excellent. The owners are nice and gracious and have excellent service . My only issue is with the high use of disposables and plastic . The most friendly and providing owners and staff you could ever meet, food deliciously exceeding the best of our expectations and whenever we go their cooking knocks it out of the park and we are completely blown away. Their roti always made as fresh as they come, their Aloo Masala unmatched and their Chili Paneer of the highest quality. The owners are always as accommodating as ever, and the vibe of the staff and restaurant makes you keep wanting to come back again and again. We have been dining in at Chaat all the time at their Roseville location and we could not possibly be more elated that they are now in our home town of Folsom. I had a disappointing experience the first time ...but still tried to give one more chance to this place...but sadly it is an expensive place and cutting corners... One plate of pav bhaji costs $ 11.99 + tax here... woah!!! and then you serve ham burger buns??? They were not even buttered properly... c'mon? Where is the PAV??? The one star is only for the guy whom we complained and he agreed to re heat the bun with butter...it was a sad attempt and I decided not to argue there... Totally not worth it...done with this place.. very expensive, mediocre food, low quantity,... don't think I would ever go there again..
