Sanskrit is our local and favorite establishment for Indian food. The establishment is clean the staff friendly and food is of quality ingredients. Tandoori chicken is delicious, great seasoning mixture and served fresh from the oven. The Gobi Manchurian Is delicious and approved as delicious by friends from India! Support this local restaurant when you're in the mood for delicious Indian food. Everything is flavorful and delicious. The menu offers great descriptions and the staff is always friendly and helpful! Highly recommended!

Stopped in for the Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge and was delighted to see that they have a regular vegan menu as well. So we feasted and dined outside with Gunner W at our feet, enjoying an early dinner on a fall evening after attending a nearby event. We started with the Seaweed Tofu Tikka Roll from the Vegan Challenge menu. Think Indian food in sushi roll form. It was creative and pretty good. If I see Gobi Manchurian, which is one of my absolute favorite dishes at an Indian restaurant, I'm ordering it and this one did not disappoint. The cauliflower had kick and was perfectly crispy. We also enjoyed the Baingan Bharata and the Sanskrit Vegan Pahadi curry with rice. Both I would recommend. Service was friendly and accommodating. We were checked on the right amount and Gunner W had plenty of water in his bowl. They also happen to be right next door to Temple Coffee, so I definitely would dine here again when in the area.

10/12/25 *Update, our Togo order was missing our chicken tikka. I called the restaurant and they are circling w/the manager to see if they can refund us for the missing entree. Waiting for a call back as we didn't want to drive 20 mins there and 20 mins back again for a missing item* Back to order dinner from Sanskrit for my boys! Garlic Naan, masala dosa, tandoori chicken, butter chicken and chicken tikka! Service is always good and restaurant ambiance is still welcoming.

    Veg Pahadi lunch combo

We came here for lunch, and I again ordered my favorite dish, Goat Vindaloo (not on the menu). Oddly, it was quite different from the last time I was here. (I uploaded photos last time, but Yelp isn't displaying them in my review, for some reason. Search photos for 'goat'.) Today's had Vindaloo paste as opposed to a stew, and the meat was tougher chunks of meat (not like usual slow-cooked tender meat that easily comes off a bone). I asked for spicy (i.e., spicier than already spicy vindaloo sauce) and really liked that. My husband had the Veg Pahadi Lunch Combo. The lunch combo came with his entrée, Dal Makhani (I think that's what it was), rice, and bread (he had Tandoori Roti). He said the portions were a bit small, but understandable for the price, and an excellent value. He thought the Pahadi had a nice variety of veggies, and found both it and the Dal Makhani delicious. They have updated their physical menus since my last visit, and they now seem to match what's shown online. Service, as usual, was prompt, efficient, and pleasant.

I love the lunch special. That gives me an opportunity to taste several dishes for a great price. Service is fast. Ambiance is what it it is in a strip mall sort space. The lunch special is a must try.

NAAN (PLAIN/BUTTER/GARLIC), CHANA MASALA, SANSKRIT BUTTER MASALA - PANEER

Decent spot for Indian food in Folsom. My friends & I stopped by for dinner - we were seated very quickly, and our service was prompt and attentive. We ordered the Bombay sliders & samosa chaat as our appetizers. Loved the samosa chaat, but felt let down by the flavor and moistness of the Bombay sliders. It didn't feel authentic to what we were expecting. For our mains, we ordered the chana masala and butter paneer with garlic naan and rice. Portions were great! Chana masala was bursting with great flavor, but the paneer had an interesting coconut undertone to it that just didn't taste right. If I could optimize the right menu items to get here, I would definitely come back but otherwise I would recommend trying somewhere else in Folsom for Indian food!

    GOAT CURRY
    Linda T.

We went here for dinner and it was great. Ordered the goat curry, shrimp curry, chicken tikka dosa, and garlic naan bread. We love spicy foods and the medium had the right amount of a mild kick. Our toddlers were able to enjoy it. They had quick service - we didn't need to wait long between ordering and getting our food. Very peaceful restaurant to eat at and nice folks.

    LUNCH THALI
    Teev R.

An all-rounded Indian eatery with great lunch specials and Thali dishes. Get the garlic naan! Setting: Located in the Broadstone marketplace, there is ample parking and room in the restaurant to dine. Service: The service is quick and the staff are kind to answer questions. Food: They have a lunch special during the week with multiple options (including vegetarian). I personally enjoyed the chicken tikka while the others I was dining with got the various Thalis (large plates with multiple different items).

Hands down my favorite Indian restaurant in Folsom. I've been coming here for years, the quality of the food and flavor has been consistent and delicious. My favorite is Butter Chicken, Chicken Masala, Mysore Masala Dosa, and Samosas. The chutney for the samosas is amazing and the Sambar for the Dosas is delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Good Indian restaurant in Folsom! I ordered for pick up and I got my food when I arrived exactly 30 mins as they said. - Samosa chatt: delicious samosas. The dough was crispy and the peas filling was flavorful. The sauce complemented the samosas very well but I wish that they gave me more. - Aloo gobi: this is a gravy style version. The gravy was very flavorful. There were lots of cauliflower pieces that were perfectly cooked (perfect firmness & not mushy). - Butter chicken: the gravy was good and creamy but I wish that it had bolder flavor. The chicken pieces were tender.

    Thali

Such amazing food every time! Staff is friendly, restaurant is clean and food comes out in a timely manner. Love getting the thali plate for lunch, this place is awesome.

Ordered the thali and was very disappointed. Cold left overs that was reheated in the microwave. Small portions and nothing tasted fresh.

Place was empty but clean. Cooks eating ( a good sign). Ordered dal, biranyi, Raita, pakora with chickpea, naan assortment. Friendly staff and she mentioned they were having phone issues. At home unpackaged the bag. Everything was packed well. Flavors were great. I thought the dal a little salty but my wife thought it was great. I wish we had ordered just the onion naan, it was great! Carmelized and delicious. The raita was delicious. Pretty sure it's homemade. Creamy and flavorful. Overall it deserves a 5 for food , prices and service and we will be back again. Hopefully the phone will be functioning and I remember to mention salt. Ignore the other reviews which are all over the place. Been eating northern Indian cuisine for 45 years. The store was practically empty but the gentleman who took the order was very helpful and eager. I got the full-spice but it wasn't that spicy, which is fine because the texture was thicker than any other butter chicken I've had before. It was so much more satisfying, a good mouthful. The chicken was a little dry but it had that beautiful tandoori color and flavor, and honestly the sauce itself was just so perfect it negates everything else. I hope to come back soon

Lunch buffet would be the best option which is Affordable and it is only for $20. They have a wide selection of meats to vegetarian and really nice rice and biryani's. Also the lunch buffet do you come with some non and we got to try out there garlic naan which is my favorite. . In the lunch buffet there is a green Chicken Tika Which is Blended with Green spices and it was very moist chicken And had so much flavor . They also had a red Blended spices with curry and chicken it was very different and it was bone fall off and it wasn't too spicy but very flavorful. They also had a goat haleem which is Blended with mutton and wheat or lentils to make it very smooth like porridge and filled with stringy tender meat. I also like their song paneer which is a spinach and cheese which was really great vegetarian option in the buffet. I also like their zera rice which is a flavor basmati rice with dry onions on top which was really great. They're chicken biryani was very flavorful and I also like the fluffy rice and spices in it. They're tandoori chicken kabob was boneless and it was cut into cubes and it was really good and tender but it was a little bit salty for my tasting. Also they do have great selection for desserts gulab jamun like a fried donut with syrup and rice pudding too. . The service was really great and they were attended with refilling our water and asking if everything was okay. The Ambiance is casual and they have plenty of seating with a booth or table of your choice. . Overall If you're looking for an affordable Buffet this is a great opportunity to come try out new dishes from South and North India Cuisine. I also got to try their mutton Mandi off the menu which is a big platter filled with lots of flavor Biryani rice with spices, nuts like cashew and almond and dry onions and in the middle there is three giant pieces of tender flavorful mutton. This is a great platter to share with friends and family. . Also they have butter chicken here, the sauce is thick and flavorful and the chicken was moist and it was white chicken meat. All the meat here is served as Halal which I really like because the texture of the meat is usually more tender and juicy. . I also got to try cheese naan bread which was cheesy and my favorite is still there garlic naan which is thin and they really oven it to crispy and I really like that. The aroma of the garlic is just so irresistible good. Hope this review helps. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day.
