This is a lovely coffee house right off Baltimore Pike that has a variety of delicious drinks,…read morepastries, and a decent amount of seating. The vibe is light and airy, and the service is always friendly. I especially appreciate their rotating drink specials and options for non-coffee drinks, like a matcha. Also shoutout to the scones from OsoSweet bakery across Baltimore Pike--they go so well with a coffee and are huge and tasty. Chadds Ford Coffee House is what a chain like Starbucks aspires to be: local, cozy, and artisanal. Good music playing loud enough that you can hear it, but not so loud that you can't have a good conversation. There is wifi and a good amount of seating, including stools for solo diners who might want to open a laptop and send a few emails while eating the aforementioned giant scone. It's also easy to get takeout service, but I'd say it's worth spending a few minutes here to really savor your food and drink.

Ended up at Chadds Ford Coffee House on a day where a trip to a normal stop of mine was denied…read morebecause of the location I frequent being closed. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I love to switch it up and try new places, and this was no exception, and I did get to enjoy not only a good macchiato, but also a lovely, light and fluffy croissant. However, based on the vibe when I walked inside, I had expected a step above from what I actually experienced. This is NOT to say that anything is wrong with this place; it is cute, the staff is extremely nice, and their coffee is good, just good. But there is nothing here that takes it up a notch to make them anything memorable or more than just another coffee stop on the road of many potential head turning exquisite coffee paradises. I was very excited when I asked about the macchiato, as they said they make them the traditional "correct" way, which is what I prefer. A very small, very potent and delicious amount of espresso, and I usually enjoy mine con panna which they were happy to oblige. While the espresso was pulled well and the drink was delicious, it did taste as if their roaster went just a bit too far, or they extracted just a bit too much. Not a big deal. However, at a place making this correctly, I would expect a damn good macchiato. The croissant was also tasty; buttery and flaky, and I am not sure if it was baked on site, but I feel like if it wasn't, they should consider doing just that, because that is what could elevate this to that next level and really make it a destination! All in all I was pleased with what I got and the price was reasonable for what we ordered. If I am in the area I will likely be returning to my favorite spot nearby that I frequent with reverence, and that is no fault of Chadds Ford Coffee House. But when coffee is needed and I'm around, if I can't go to where I normally would, this would be at the top of my list! Give them a shot if you travel route 1 through the area often and you may find you're new spot!

Left waiting for the server for quite a while after we finished eating. Too little eggs in the short rib hash; one egg just doesn't work for the amount of potatoes and shirt rib. We enjoyed the French toast, the break & butter, and overall flavors of our eggs dishes. Browsing the store and plants after breakfast was nice.

We made the reservations for happy hour specifically to sit outside and listen to the live music. When we arrived, even though we had reservations for their happy hour, we were told there were no places outside and they wouldn't even honor their happy hour menu inside. They later came back after realizing they were in the wrong and said they would honor the drink prices but not the appetizers on the happy hour menu. We saw an empty high top table with no chairs outside that we would have stood at, but that wasn't even an option. Instead, we were told we could purchase drinks and walk around outside. Since we were there for a birthday (indicated on the reservation), this was upsetting. We left and found a nearby restaurant with delicious food and all-day happy hour nearby.

They both looked my direction before one of them decided to greet me, and the other laughed as if they were playing a "who will greet the customer first" game, and the goal was to not be first. Once I made my order, a tall latte and a ham and cheese croissant, the two employees began holding a very loud and boisterous conversation about one of their coworkers who was wanting more hours, and laughing about how they were not going to switch shifts with this person. Meanwhile, because I go to Starbucks often, I have a pretty good idea of how long the sandwich will take and the drink. By the time my sandwich was almost done, the one employee had only put syrup in my latte cup. She was then on her cell phone waiting for the espresso to complete. My sandwich was done, before the milk had ever been poured for my drink as they continued on their conversation and laughing. Once my drink and sandwich were done, my drink tasted fine, but my sandwich was cold in the middle so I had to throw it out. Being that I was the only customer there - I was paid very little attention and my order was made at an extremely slow pace. Such a bummer - let's give the employee that wants more hours, the chance to provide great customer service.
