Amazing hidden gem! Great food, decent prices, amazing service even on a super busy Saturday night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a live band so the restaurant was packed to the brim.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Valet or self park. There were near 100 cars in the lot and still space to park somehow! The place was packed when we got there but we were seated in a minute! And in that time we were told by other staff that they'd be there shortly. Once seated, our server came by a few times in the 5 minutes we spent deciding on what to get haha and plenty while we were dining. I say this because it's not often you see such a packed restaurant feel like such an efficiently well oiled machine. We were there to see the band and some friends so we just got the pulled pork truffle fries, which, mind you, were some of the best fried we've had anywhere! What a pleasant surprise, as we were just grabbing a quick bite to share before having to head off. First visit for a pre-year end holiday family dinner (party of 7) - was very pleased and impressed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Was surprised that for an early (4:00!) dinner reservation, the place was very busy. Perhaps attributable to the holidays or perhaps the happy hour pricing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The half-price items, including Guiness on tap, made it especially affordable. Service was superb. Despite how busy they were, our server, Cathy, gave us excellent attention. Food orders came out quickly from the kitchen. Having sampled Fish & Chips the world over, I can say that this is among the very best. Large serving size (not necessaily a positive), but in this case fried fish done perfectly, no sogginess, but also not too dry. Fries were very good as well. Pasta primavera was excellent. I visited the Chadds Ford Tavern as part of a party of 7. We were coming from Longwood Gardens and I picked this restaurant because it was right on the way. Making a reservation with them was quick and easy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Something I noticed when I came in is that there where time limits for larger parties - so, I assume this place is very popular; but I was also a little concerned that our large group might push that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My concern was squashed by prompt and attentive service. What a wonderful tavern! My husband and I visited this charming place with friends today, for lunch after church. What a gem! The menu is fabulous with offerings from mushroom soup, lovely starters, sharable plates, sandwiches, seafood and a beautiful hamburger for 12.00 on Sundays. From the second we sat down, she was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We kept switching things up -- adding this, changing that -- and she handled every bit of it like a total pro. We've visited four times and have mixed feelings. Excellent Thanksgiving Experience! Everything was exceptionally easy from making the reservation, the valet parking, to getting seated on time. The food and service was outstanding. We were greeted by the owner who was gracious and very organized, especially considering the large number of people coming in the door. Our server (Gail) was prompt with service and so pleasant, and the staff kept the buffet filled. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant on a regular basis. read more

We stopped in for happy hour, our first time trying Chadds Ford Tavern. We sat at a high top in the bar area and were quickly greeted by Kathy who was so friendly and helpful! She gave us the quick rundown: happy hour is every day from 4-6pm and you can order from the HH menu anywhere in the restaurant. There are also specials each day of the week. We tried: oysters, shrimp cocktail, Buffalo/sweet chili wings (you can split the flavors on the order!), wedge salad, and peach bread pudding. All were great, I can't even pick a standout! Just kept ordering to try more. Homemade chips and dip were served too. Dirty tavern martini and old fashioned were good cocktails (the entire drink menu is 1/2 off for HH). Came here on a weekend for lunch. We did not have a reservation but were seated immediately. It sounds like reservations are encouraged and probably needed especially for dinner time. The menu is big and I think it's one of their flaws because they don't seem to be a master of any entrees from what we tried. I order a mango jalapeno margarita which tasted mango-less and jalapeno-less. Starters were prime rib egg rolls, Bavarian pretzel and French onion. Egg rolls were meh, the prime rib was too finely chopped it should have been shaved. French onion was bland and pretzel was too soft - no texture at least on outside which gives me impression it's frozen because when you heat a frozen pretzel there is no give on the outside it's all soft textured. So entrees were fried chicken sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, crabcakes and side consisting of goat cheese whipped mashed potatoes and sweet corn risotto. The crabcakes tasted fishy, sweet corn risotto was unevenly cooked and tasted nothing like sweet corn just bland risotto. Then the goat cheese whipped potatoes were HORRIBLE. Goat cheese is creamy and rich and I was expecting decadent mashed potatoes. It was a scoop of mashed potatoes with a sprinkle of goat cheese on top that is it. It was sad. No goat cheese incorporated in the mashed potatoes in the cooking process it was just a scoop of regular mashed potatoes with goat cheese sprinkled on top. How innovative. Service was good. I will not come back everyone in my party said their food was just mehhh. Shorten the menu so you can focus on creating great dishes. read more

I'm the only one of the 3 of us that was disappointed in their dinner. The Salmon & Shrimp as well as the fried Chicken dinner were enjoyed. I thought the chicken was on the greasy-side. I love risotto which is why I was steered toward the Crab Cakes since that was the side served with that dish. It didn't have the right consistency meaning it didn't have the distinct bite it should - it was more like rice with a corn cream sauce. We decided to return to the Chadds Ford Tavern for our first dining out experience of 2026. I called the restaurant and made the reservation for Saturday, January 3, at 6:15 and I let them know I use a wheelchair (a consideration I always do when making a reservation so we are not placed at a booth or in an area which impedes the ability of staff or customers to navigate between tables). Upon arrival on a busy Saturday night, I asked the Valet Parking attendant if I could park my van in the wheelchair accessible space and he replied, "Sorry, dude, we're all Valet." I asked if the car parked in the designated accessible spot next to the door was indeed a disabled person and he assured me they were. I then asked him if anyone on staff could drive my hand-controlled accessible van and he looked puzzled. I told him I needed a spot where I could park and have room for my wheelchair ramp to open on the right side of my van. He spoke with a colleague and magically he moved the car parked in the spot I originally asked for to another space so that I could park my van - by the way, the vehicle that was in that designated space was not a disabled person and had no handicapped tags or placard. Our party of four was shown quickly to our table and after looking at the menu and getting settled we placed our order. The shrimp cocktail (12 piece) and the huge soft pretzel were good. The beers nice and cold and the cocktails were very good. Our main courses were served in a timely manner but for two of us our Prime Rib was cold - not just warm or lukewarm, but COLD! We let our friendly and efficient served know and she apologized and said she would have it taken care of. The other main courses served at the table were petite filets with shrimp on top - they were quite good. When the manager returned a few minutes later, he brought our Prime Ribs back - on the same plates, with the same trimmings on them, just served warm this time. One order was supposed to be medium rare but the reheat under the Salamander ruined that - now it was medium for sure. For dessert we order the mini donuts with vanilla ice cream - they were out of cheesecake. Dinner for the four of us was $300. An ok experience on a busy Saturday night, not a great experience. Not sure if we will return soon but if we do, we will definitely try something else on the menu. read more

The potatoes were not hot or even warm. The spinach was hot and tasty. Overall, I wanted to love this place since I live so close to it, but was disappointed in the food. I took my mom here for Mother's Day brunch and was extremely disappointed with the ingredients in everything we tasted with the exception of the Caesar salad and cut fruit - definitely not worth the $50 per person price tag. The fried chicken was cold and tasted like low quality oil. The lobster bisque was loaded with gums and tasted like flour, not lobster. "Maple syrup" was definitely corn syrup Aunt Jemima or equivalent, but without it, the waffles were flavorless. When the check came, our table of two had a "large party" gratuity included - pretty sure that's illegal unless you have 6 or more guests. Was hoping for a much nicer experience for the price tag - Do yourself a favor and go out for a nice meal somewhere else with that money and skip the buffet. The food is impeccable! Truly! Had the Bass-wrapped crab and risotto and the house salad! The house salad was super fresh and even the croutons were delicious! I'm still in disbelief that they got me a table with an hour ahead of time reservation! It was packed because this place is legitimately gourmet and fun to hang out in. What is the deal with the parking?!?!?! Parking was a crazy mess yesterday evening. Why doesn't the parking lot next door allow people to park in that lot without towing them!?!?! It's empty at night. Not sure what's going on with that but the township or someone needs to come up with a solution to the parking. I'd share how my car and key were left in the lot, but I love this newly found restaurant way too much to say anything negative. Charming venue on Route 1 near Painters Crossing. Large bar and dining room is inviting when you walk in and the setup has a very comfortable feel. Waiter was attentive and helped us navigate the menu which had a broad range of selections. Cocktails were well executed we even made it with a few minutes to take advantage of half price happy hour :P. Wings were shared at the table and the BBQ sauce recommended was excellent.
