We had an exceptional experience at The Pear. If you are lucky enough to land Josie as your server, ask her advice and order all her recommendations. She is brilliant and knows every dish and drink at the restaurant. Our first courses were the wedge salad and potato latke. Very satisfying! We ordered French Cut Chicken, Lamb Shank, and Buddha Bowl with salmon. Everyone loved their dinner. The standout cocktail was the pear infused Almost Delco. The cocktails here are outstanding! We went for my birthday and I was truly overwhelmed by the warm welcome we received here. I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was at the Pear. The staff gets 10/10, everyone was super nice and our server really helped us understand the menu. The decor was also super cute and I loved the menu options. I want to like this place. However the people (customers) at the bar were such bad vibes. We ended up sitting in the other room and it was all older couples talking so loudly we could hear every word. It was hard to decide what to get because there were so many cool unique options but I ended up going with one of the servers recommendations. The chicken was fantastic! But it was over this gnocchi that was not good... the cream sauce was OK but nothing special. Absolutely worth a try! This is a creative menu and unique spot. Interesting menu, great staff. The only negative was that when arrived for a reservation made two weeks ago, we were given a choice of the front or back deck/patio. Not to make a fuss, and although it was enclosed and heated, the door opening would cause a terrible draft and would bang and shake the table. That was the only drawback to an otherwise great dinner. I had the roast beets and two tacos. Both tasty. The tacos could use a few more toppings, but the beets were fantastic. My guest had the pasta with lamb aribatta and we shared the humus starter. The wine list is small but had good selections. And the crafted cocktails were very nice. read more

Miss the Dilworthtown so much and was so excited to try the Pear for lunch. Beautiful inside and service was excellent. We started with the cracker jacks. Interesting concept, poor execution. Too many unpopped kernels. Still a nice surprise on the menu. Partner had pasta, the lamb bolognese. Was the best he's had. But it left him wanting more. It was served in a bowl the size he uses for his Cheerios. I had the perfect "pearing ". A cup of the best butternut squash soup a small salad and half a grilled cheese both better than average plus a small cheesecake. This classic spot in beautiful Chester county is back! Cute bar and restaurant with plenty of parking and easy to walk to. Well done decor and great atmosphere. We only stopped in for drinks. However, the food that was coming out of the kitchen looked great. Another patron at the bar who was a regular shared that they have the best brunch. The bar staff were very friendly and polite. They were also attentive. There is a TV so could watch sports while sitting at the bar. The craft cocktails were delicious and well thought out concoctions. We order the Almost Delco which is a pear martini that they are well known for. We also had One Thing Led To Another which was a tasty and a great dessert drink. The star of our visit was a drink called Half Dressed. The flavors were awesome and the marrying of flavor with presentation was on point. The bell pepper flavor is terrific. Celebrated my Mom's 71st birthday at The Pear last night. Service was stellar! The manager and our server made the evening very special and memorable. The food, while each plate was delicious, was a bit pricy especially my 8 year old son's cheeseburger which was charged at the full price and he didn't get all the items listed, just fries and the burger. The plate portions were also on the smaller side, but still delicious! We started with the hummus & special buffalo chicken dip for the table. The chips, similar to a dorito, were very tasty and well seasoned. Entrees were yummy: roasted chicken, budda bowl, burger, etc. All delicious, just a bit small than we're used to at an upscale, quality establishment. Dessert, last bites, were incredible. And, they comped the birthday girls dessert, which was a nice touch. Plus my Mom is vegan, so they made something special, which was really sweet. This is a wonderful establishment tucked away right outside of Westchester. The service was awesome, vibe feels like a warm mother's hug. We had the hummus to start and it was absolutely bursting with flavor. The olives and cheese were pretty tasty as well. The appetizer that stole the show was the crudo, that is a MUST try for any new comer! The Wagyu burger is America blend and melts in your bite with each bite. First time last time. Our servers didn't remove our first course plates or cocktail glasses when our serving dinner expecting us to pile them up on the side. Never checked if we needed anything, water etc. and the meal was average at best. Halibut over cooked, the pork shoulder was very fatty and the bill came before asking if we wanted dessert. We decided to try the pear because we were staying nearby for the weekend. Service was great and they were able to get us in on a Saturday night without a reservation, so we really appreciated that. We were seated upstairs and a tiny table. The room was quaint and reminiscent of a farmhouse. I totally understand having small tables to ensure more seating, but it was barely big enough for each of our plates and drinks. Again though, the servers were great about promptly clearing our tableware. We were a little sad to see that the two drinks that we were looking forward to try were no longer on the menu, and that they had not updated their online menu to reflect that, along with the other changes they made. Food was very hit or miss, we really enjoyed the lamb bolognese, but the bun on the smash burger fell apart within two bites, it looked and tasted like a Pepperidge Farm bun. From the moment we walked into the Restaraunt we knew would enjoy this dinner in and its old world charm. We were greeted warmly by the manager and more than one employee. We were tired and hungry and had a long ride ahead of us and after in forming our waiter of this, and based on his recommendations, we ordered and were served very promptly. I just recently ate at The Pear and had wonderful food and service. My server Josie was very attentive and always made sure that my table was taken care of. She was on top of things the entire night and never let my company and I feel neglected. The busser that night, Kevin, was a huge help too. He would make sure that dirty or unused plates were out of the way very quickly and also was very friendly to my table. I got the delicious chicken breast and a super tasty 'Almost Delco' drink. We've been wanting to try this new restaurant for a while because we've always enjoyed Sovana, their sister restaurant, but we just never got around to it. When our friends suggested we finally check it out, we were excited, but honestly, we were grossly disappointed. We've never had a bad meal at Sovana, but this place really missed the mark. My husband and I started with the baba ganoush, which was fine. A Not as flavorful or smoky as you'd find at a good Mediterranean or Greek restaurant, but decent. I ordered the halibut kebab, which I thought was a creative twist on halibut. The first few bites were overwhelmingly citrusy, but the center pieces were cooked well and nicely textured. Still, for $32, it was a pretty small portion. Fish is clearly at a premium because I can't really get a fish dish for under $30 even at a lower end estaurant. My husband and our friends all ordered the smashburger, assuming it would be just as good as Sovana's. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The burgers were small and extremely salty. No one enjoyed theirs. The fries were the highlight of the meal...hot, crispy, and well-seasoned, but that's about it. Adding bacon to the burgers cost an extra $4 for just two thin strips, which felt ridiculous. The burger was $29. We pay that at a high-end restaurant in a major city. Not in freaking Chadds Ford. Service was friendly and attentive, but the overall experience didn't live up to expectations. On top of the high prices, they also tack on that gross "credit card fee," which I find obnoxious. I always thought that fee was supposed to keep food prices down, not pad an already expensive bill. All in all, a disappointing experience from a restaurant tied to one we've always loved. We won't be rushing back anytime soon read more

Didn't really break any new ground but I don't really see that as the goal. Ordered: Korean BBQ Cracker Jacks: Very tasty and worth the price Tuna Crudo: I've had a thousand tuna crudos and almost didn't order this because they're so normcore but I'm glad I did. It reminded me what I like about the dish when it works. Good sesame. Meatball: Solid. Could've used a little more browning and more polenta. Pear toast: Very good balance of sweet and savory. Cavatelli: Fresh pasta well-made. Really enjoyed the acidic hit of in-house pickled jalapenos. Best cocktail on the menu was the Dragon with Matches (nice tGD reference). Service was attentive and spot-on. A few funny foibles (a nice young man offered to crack us black pepper on our tuna but didn't return for either of our red-sauce dishes).
