I am fan of this place. While visiting a good friend in Delaware she purchased a Groupon for a tasting at this place. We went on a Wednesday at 2pm and did not leave until 6pm. So you already know we drank all the wine...lol The tasting included about 7-9 different wines. Our host was awesome...very thorough and didn't seem to mind our chattiness. The tasting amounts were generous hence why the tasting alone was over 45 mins. Afterward I ended up buying 3 bottles to take back home. Then we got a bottle, crackers and cheese to take to the front patio. We killed that bottle and ate all the crackers and cheese. I should say I really killed the bottle since my friend had to be the responsible one and get us back safely....lol I will definitely make my way back here again! read more

We stopped here on a whim. We were headed back to Pittsburgh. This winery was surprisingly great. The guy that helped us out had just started in the business in July. He seemed to know so much about wine in a short period of time. He provided us different tastes of wines that were not even on the list. We loved everyone that we tried. We only got maybe 4-6 bottles to take with us. The reds and whites are very good. One of the interesting facts that we learned here. They had a bad harvest a couple of years ago. They use growers from other wineries in North East and NY near our house. Our favorite winery in NY is Johnson Estate Winery. They use their grapes to produce some of their wine. This is a cool place. Nice atmosphere. Seems like a cool place to go have a glass and hang out. Check this establishment out. read more

Brought my gf and her husband here for a surprise late bday gift and we enjoyed our time here, I believe it was more the company than the experience that made this visit nice. I got us all tickets for the Adult trick or treat pairing on 9/30/17 and i have to say i was a bit let down by what they paired the wines with. There were 5 stations, some had more than 1 to try. But the treat pairings really could've used help. My bf was literally pointed out that one station had peanut chews and peeps. One station I believe was station 2 literally had cookies that looked like they were grocery store brand just set out on a plate, then there wasn't enough put out so one guest just reached over and grabbed them all. We just wanted to get our cider and ale at the same time so we can get out the cramped hut. I would suggest maybe next time they have these treats in individual cups or more than 1 person manning the fort bc i felt so bad for the 1 guy trying to pour wine and beer and put out snacks. Giving this place a 3 start bc I really enjoyed the wines and loved their cider; although I have to agree the pours seemed a bit lite for the price we had paid. The person who hands you your passport also gives you a bag of Herr's chips.You get to keep the Halloween wine glass which was nice but make sure you clean it out before your 1st pour bc there was a bunch of cardboard box bits in my friends glass. I have to say my favorite station was station 5, the sorbet & ice cream. We all thought the sorbet flavor was good but we all got the same weird paper bits in it, like a paper mache had got in it, but the 2 ice creams were realllllyyy good. I wish they sold that icecream in the shop I would've bought a gallon, but the guy serving us said it was from Gemelli's in West Chester. I didn't know what to expect of this place, I will return for more wine and cider purchases but maybe no more tastings. I definitely recommend bringing more snacks or buy some from the shop, or buy from the food trucks there and just sit back, sip, bite & enjoy the live music. read more

My kids gave me a gift card here for Christmas last year, so we drove up to use it in October. Somehow I missed that a trunk or treat was going on, or we would not have come. Definitely not my thing, and it was too crowded and busy to do a tasting. But while trying to decide what to buy, an employee told us we could taste samples at the outside bar, which we did. I ended up with 2 large bottles of Sangria wine and Rose, both were delicious. I would definitely come back for a tasting when they don't have an event going on. read more

It was my first time at a wine tasting event. I had 6 different wines paired with chocolate. The staff were informative and friendly. My bf and I enjoyed our time here. Out of all the wines we had, we enjoyed the sunset blush which is more of a summery kind of drink. Best paired with lemonade or something sweet. And the 2015 Harbinger which was more of a dark red wine. I recommend checking this place and their wide selection of wines! read more

We attended the Adult Trick or Treat at Chaddsford Winery today. Our tour guide was fabulous, but a male employee at check in was rude and condescending on two occasions when members of our group asked simple questions. I work in the service industry and it is unacceptable to treat paying guests disrespectfully. This put a damper on an otherwise nice experience. read more

My family and I had a great evening at this winery. The evening we went reservations were full but walk in are accepted. There was music and areas to walk around. The wine selection was small and served in plastic cups. I am not sure if this is due to covid or the event they had but it def draws from the feel of being at a winery. Felt more like an outside festival where they have wine and beer served. All in all the environment and atmosphere was relaxing and an enjoyable evening. read more

I thought CFW was okay. We came around 4pm on a weekday and did a tasting and then ordered a red flight. The tasting felt very rushed, the woman that helped us was nice but clearly busy and out of breath. The pours were pretty inconsistent, usually with each one either me or my friend would get significantly more. After that we each ordered a red flight. $30 for what seemed a rushed experience was not what I expected. Wines were good, but nothing particularly groundbreaking where I wanted to buy a bottle. Also how do you have a winery with no snacks or food! I always get a charcuterie when I go to a winery. Ah well. It was fine for one experience but I don't know if I'll be back. read more

We went to a special tasting of four of their wines: 2 reds and 2 whites. They were all very delicious and tasted like they'd pair really well with an actual meal. The Fusion and Traminette are both very well made wines. Previously I've had their Spiced Apple wine, which makes a great base for a mulled wine. Just put it on low heat and add some cloves, orange peel, cinnamon sticks, and maybe also some apple slices for a delicious hot toddy. Their prices may seem a bit high at first, but I think their quality is better than wines at the same prices at the state stores. In the summer, they have some music events on weekends, which are supposed to be really fun. We'll be coming back to check out those. read more

I was excited to try this winery. My parents had been here years ago and always talked about it. I was a little disappointed. The area is beautiful and I was very happy with Good Vibes Only red wine. I was disappointed that you could buy a bottle and just sit around and take in the scenery. I was also disappointed that you could only buy a plastic cup of wine. My wife and I made a weekend of Longwood Gardens and the Chaddsford Winery. This was our first winery trip, so I have nothing to compare it to; however, I thought the presentation of the 3 wines was really well done. The pairing of different foods with each of the wines was very eye-opening. How a certain food eaten before or after a wine can affect the way the wine tastes so dramatically was very interesting. My wife and I enjoyed all 3 wines in addition to the introductory wine we were given as we were seated. The only negative was the seating area. I understand that COVID has altered the way most every business has to accommodate their customers, but we were in a non-heated basement area in early December. At the very least, some portable heaters would have been a nice thought in regards to customer comfort. Other than that, the experience was outstanding. read more

This review is primarily for the Adult Trick or Treating - I've been before in the summer when they have all the food trucks out and live music, which is really fun and great energy. So I have to say that I was a bit disappointed by the Adult Trick or Treating. You can pre-buy tickets online (non-refundable) or you can get them at the door if there are any left at a higher price. I wish we had waited until the day of to purchase tickets because when we went it was pouring rain and in the 40s (no fault of the winery at all) and I thought they would move all the stations inside but 2-3 were still outdoors (though under tents). You get a cute wine glass when you enter and a "passport" with all the stations and what's offered at each. I'm not a wine snob at all but all the wines truly tasted horrible. I was confused because in the past when I've come to this winery I've been very pleased with all the wines I've tasted. Maybe they brought out the wines they wanted to get rid of for this event since so many people come through? In particular, the two drinks at the food truck station were a warm cider and a slushie-like drink; I dumped them both out after one sip because I couldn't get them down. The first was unbelievably bitter with a bad aftertaste and the latter was unbearably sweet, also with a bad aftertaste. At another station where they were serving pita chips and hummus, the woman behind the counter was on her phone the entire time and did not look up to even greet us. She looked bored and miserable and made us uncomfortable. I appreciate the effort put into the décor at each of the stations but since our primary purpose of going there was to taste the variety of wines, we didn't feel we got our money's worth. I'll likely still come back in the summers when the live music and food trucks are out, and when we have the freedom to pick our wines to drink, but I doubt I'll be persuaded to come for any of their special events in the future. read more

We popped in here twice during our trip to PA and really enjoyed this winery! They have tons of indoor seating, and even more outdoor/patio seating. The first time it was here it was pretty dead and we decided to do the 3 red wine tasting. It was a little pricey, I believe it was about $13 for 3 wines but we liked one of them so much we ordered a bottle. The harbinger was a delicious red! The next day we were there it was a food truck festival and they had seating everywhere plus a live band outside. My only complaint is that the bathroom line was around the corner (1 stall for men, two for women) so any time its busy you have to wait. I also wish they had more food here, we only saw crackers and various dips for sale. Overall this is a great winery to stop at for indoor/outdoor relaxing! read more

They hosted a free wine tasting this past Saturday(this is the ad) : Calling all wine enthusiasts - do we have an event for you! Wine parties are a fabulous way to spend an afternoon or evening learning about wines. Enjoy a complimentary tasting experience and a tour the barrel & bottling rooms. Outdoor vendor market or warm up by the fire pits! They also had a surf and turf food truck outside but I was not brave enough to try it! lol You enter what feels like a cozy wood cabin, to the main room which is where they sell bottles of wine and related paraphernalia. We were guided to the register to check in for the event. We were given a small Chaddsford winery wine glass which possessed three tickets. Each ticket enable us to sample wines at three different stations located in the basement of the winery. In a room adjacent to the main room, they have a bar where you can purchase glasses of wine. On that day they also had vendors selling their fares such as scarves, jewelry and some foods. Overall, I was not overly impressed with the wines. The event was entertaining though. I was surprised there was no cheese offering! Wine and cheese is classic! It makes for a nice afternoon outing though. read more

We randomly dropped by this place while seeing it on the road on Baltimore Pike. Because we had no plans to visit, or have never even heard of this place, we came in with absolutely no expectations and a completely blank slate. They have a self-guided winery tour, which is basically one room where you read the history and see their barrels. For wine tasting, you go downstairs to a very dark basement. Tastings were less than $10 for a flight, and you get to keep the glass. The wine itself was the most average and basic tasting wines I've ever had. Nothing special, nothing horrible. I went for the advertised Dog Days celebration and I was VERY disappointed. There was one food stand which was pizza and one dog treat vendor and I believe a vet info. table. That is NOT a Dog Days CELEBRATION. I was looking forward to lots of food vendors for humans and dogs plus lots of stands with dog toys, dog collars, information stand, etc. One food vendor and one dog treat vendor was not worth the 1 1/2 hour drive to get there or constitute a celebration. And it would be nice if you fixed your stone 'patio' so it is even to sit wine glasses on tables without worrying about them falling. read more

Their wine is really good and although they do not have a kitchen .... or pizza, they have food trucks with food making the experience something new and exiting every time you visit . I have not been back during or after the pandemic but know they are still doing curbside wine pick up. Me and my boyfriend liked them so much that he was in the works of getting a part time job with them but the pandemic hit and it just didn't work out but they are really good at what they do and the winery is very relaxing to be at. read more

Nice winery with pretty grounds. They offer a $10 wine tasting that you can walk in and enjoy. They also have chilled bottles of wine and cheese you can purchase if you'd rather sit outside and have a drink and a snack. The facilities are very clean. They also offer wellness activities, such as yoga and free chair massages on the weekends. I went here on a Saturday after stopping at a barn market on Kennett Square. The weather was nice, so we sat outside and enjoyed a bottle of the Spring wine. I wasn't really a fan of the Spring wine, but do enjoy the Sunset Blush wine during the summer months. I would recommend doing the tasting so that you get a feel for their wines. They tend to be more on the sweeter or bitter side, so keep that in mind. I would go back to sit outside and have a glass of wine if I am in the area. But, I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again (it's approximately 1 hour from my house). read more

I have been to Chaddsford Winery twice now, each time was for an event. The first time I went was over the summer for one of their outside wine slushie weekend events. They had live music, a food truck, and lots of wine slushies to choose from! The second time was for a winter wine tour. The tour had four stations placed around the interior of the winery. At each station we were given a food sample (catered) paired with a wine sample. It was a nice event I just wish they gave out more food and wine! They also had an indoor and outdoor bar with drink deals. There was a food drunk outside as well. I can't wait for another event at Chaddsford Winery! read more

This place SUCKS. Not only was it improperly staffed, but they are incredibly rude. They would not accept my ID because it expired ONE day before - please keep in mind I had valid papers from the DMV with a temporary license instructing people to accept it as an ID. In addition, they sent the 70 year old woman in front of me to go back to her car (in 95 degree heat) because she left her ID in there. As I said, they are rude and do not know how to properly conduct business. Clearly just a "manager" on a power trip trying to assert what little authority she had. Thank you for wasting my time driving 1hr+ each way and the $15 drink ticket that I couldn't use. This was a wonderful way to spend my weekend home with my family for my birthday - NOT. Came here to celebrate one of my girlfriends birthdays at the Winter fest event. The wine was very good and awesome prices! There were a few tents outside, except only 1 of them had tables to sit and relax in. We were part of a large group so it was hard to not overtake the room wherever we went unfortunately because it was so tight. I would definitely go back sometime but in a smaller group. read more

We arrived with a group of 7 (not huge especially for a winery) and the hostess was INCREDIBLY rude and would not accommodate us even if we split into two smaller groups, there were plenty of open tables and she would not even make an attempt to serve us. 2nd visit: finally made it for the wine tour and tasting! $20PP which I initially thought seemed steep, after going through it -- i think its pretty fair. The tour was 30 min or so. Good pace, lots of info, and a great guide. We got to see and learn all about the unique aspects of this winery and how they do their thing. We then got to sample the reserve wines along with some food pairings, followed by a tasting of all the other wines! they keep the groups small and the wine delicious. It was a great activity for an out of town visitor and us locals who just hadnt been before. highly recommend to anyone! read more

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Background: A good girl friend of mine and I decided to connect after being apart for several years. We decided a Halloween inspired local wine tasting (along with the fabulous fall weather) sounded like the perfect Sunday afternoon to catch up. We are both 24 and look young for our age. This review isn't about the mediocre "non classy" snacks that were provided and the meager wine amounts given in the tasting for the price ($50 for the two of us). Rather this review is about how RUDELY we were treated.. today is Tuesday and I still start to fume when I recall the treatment we were subjected to this past Sunday. She and I were outside at the 2nd tasting tent, when I remarked to my friend that I was surprised that we didn't get carded. This remark was me casually voicing a thought the minute it popped into my head. We both concluded aloud that we were both surprised, yet figured most underage girls don't spend $50 for a few sips of wine. It seems only adults do that. Anyway, the girl who was running that tent (Natalie) was like "Oh you didn't get carded when you first came? You guys do look young.." and that was all that was said. We agreed that we usually get carded regularly (and would have obviously shown IDs if she asked. Though, she began speaking with someone else and we moved on to the 3rd tasting inside.) It wasn't two minutes later that this short haired woman JULIE (apparently the assistant manager!!!!) came raging in after us, practically on our tails, DEMANDING WHY WE REFUSED TO GIVE OUR IDS TO NATALIE. She was extremely negative and threatening and we both found it highly inappropriate and a terrible way to treat, OF-AGE, PAYING CUSTOMERS. We were both like, "uh, what are you talking about?" We let her know that: 1. The girl Natalie NEVER ASKED. 2. We would never refuse, for obvious reasons!? 3. I would never remark about being carded IF I WERE UNDERAGE helloooo. We gave the assistant manager our IDs after her extremely aggressive approach (which upset my friend and ruined her mood for the rest of the day- while it left me fuming. Who was she to bring down our day for no reason?! There is a way to inquire and ask in a nice professional manner. One would think that would be a natural assumption). Either of them, AT ANY TIME, could have said: "hey girls, we realize you both are most likely over 21, and we are glad you are having a nice time, but please understand it's protocol to have everyone's IDs checked. We really appreciate it." YET, JULIE never apologized when she saw that we were both 24 and continued to give us extremely threatening looks throughout the rest of our time on the grounds. It was like she was almost disappointed that she didn't catch us being underage. Like, wtf? When I confronted Natalie later asking, "Did you tell the assistant manager that we refused to show you our IDs and ran away from your tent?????" She looked at us with this fake smile and was like "because that's what you did girls..." My friend and I shared a look like we were in the twilight zone and dubbed her absolutely batshit crazy. My friend kept saying how put off and uncomfortable she felt for the rest of the afternoon and I felt totally disrespected and way undervalued, apologizing to her for picking this winery and swearing to never go back. I WILL DEFINITELY BE TELLING FRIENDS, FAMILY AND ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN TO GO ELSEWHERE. I AM TOTALLY UNSATISFIED AND WILL NEVER BE WASTING MY MONEY AT CHADDSFORD WINERY AGAIN.
