Don't. Do. It. I ignored others reviews, and for that I am sorry. Very sorry. Service is terrible. Food is salty. Service is terrible. The restaurant has a great vibe, nice bar and it is a shame the service is terrible and the food is salty, and served cold. I had the French Dip, made with short rib which was very good, but DO NOT dip into the au ju as it is so salty it was inedible. The French fries came cold and limp. I mean for $24 I expected more.

Came on a Friday night on the early side with the kiddos. The kids menu food options were all $14. My kids got grilled cheese and buttered noodles which were run of the mill/decent. We all shared a charcuterie and cheese board which we enjoyed. It had three cheeses and three meats. One soft/creamy cheese which I liked the most. The other two were typical, non-special in my option.... But my husband liked them the most. The lobster ravioli had probably 10-12 large raviolis and a petite lobster tail. The ravioli was my favorite part of the meal. My husband got the shrimp and grits which he said were very good. I tried the grits which were delicious! They had a cheesy, creamy taste which were some awesome grits. The first cosmo was spot on but the second was very red and had too much lime. Service was a bit slow for it being 5 when we arrived. For the price I expected more but it was so-so. The bill with tax was over $200. Maybe not worth the price in my opinion.

The Gables is just that-- good but average. I will admit we sat at the bar and ordered food and though it was good, the flatbread wasn't really a flatbread because it was pretty thick... Also, the service was pretty slow and the prices are quite pricey. Overall, it's a nice spot but overall just "okay".

Another outstanding lunch at The Gables in Chadds Ford! The food presentation was unbelievable and the menu was creative with sooo many good choices. We were so excited about the food that we forgot to take pictures of everything. Fried Green Tomatoes, Roasted Artichokes, Chicken Salad on Croissant and the BEST Raspberry Sorbet ever! Can't wait to go back soon. Our Server, Michael was perfect too! ADDITIONAL NOTE: I am disappointed to see poor reviews for this wonderful restaurant based on a Mother's Day or Easter Sunday experience. Both of those days are known for such high demand that keeping up to standard can be challenging. These days, I am sooo grateful that a good restaurant is still Open and they have employees willing to come to work! Just my Opinion...

We wanted a semi-late night dinner, and booked table online, they called us and let us know they weren't open that late but if we could come earlier, they'd be happy to serve us. We were able to come, and they still had bunch of tables so we weren't keeping them open late. There is a lot of parking, and has a nice, upscale ambiance. My friend started with the fried green tomatoes appetizer which was nicely presented with a big dollop of burrata cheese. I wanted something light and went with the caprese salad, which came with big slices of mozzarella and tomato and was a delicious but filling meal. My friend had a Margherita flatbread which was a large portion for one person but a good meal. We were too full for dessert, but we saw some go by that looked good. The service was good. It was a little on the expensive side, but this would make for a great date place or just an enjoyable night out with friends.

Built in the 1860s and beautifully restored, the hotel is beautiful. Formerly Faunbrook Bed & Breakfast, it's now a book-themed hotel, with seven rooms filled with books you can read during your stay. We stayed in Jane's Room - a room inspired by Jane Austen. Not only was the room gorgeous (complete with a great selection of books, picture of Jane above the bed, and a bed draped with red velvet), the bathroom was gorgeous, too. And the room had all the amenities: electric tea kettle, coffeemaker, towels, slippers, and more. They also have a very nice main level with space for reading or sitting by the fire. Just a beautiful building. The hotel is self-check-in style. They text you the day of your stay with the code for the front door and the combination for the lockbox for the key to your room. It didn't take away from the lovely stay. It snowed overnight during our stay, so we woke up to an even more charming hotel. That added to an already wonderful stay. If you're a reader or even if you're not, you can have a great hotel stay at this unique and charming hotel.

A small selection of local beers and basic wines were available at the folding table in the back for $2-$4 each, (hooray for tax-free Delaware!), as were free handfuls of chips, nuts and crackers, served up by friendly gild members. The seating/dancefloor layout struck me as odd, with 6-10 rows of folding chairs starting halfway back from the elevated stage. This did provide a generously sized standing/dancing area in front of the stage, however, with everyone seated during the more subdued opener, there was quite an awkward distance between performer and audience. This took away from the potential intimacy of the venue, and the performers commented on it. "Hello, everyone... out there. You're so far away." On to sound. The mix for the opening band was spot-on, vocals and acoustics were full and clear, with great balance between drums, keyboard, and acoustic guitar/vox. The headlining band seemed to pose more of a challenge for the sound guy. Vocals were barely audible over the drums, bass, synths, guitars and sampling. When vocals were bumped up, the mics squealed. This well-versed and well-traveled Brooklyn band usually flaunts lush, layered vocal arrangements, so the imbalance between lost vocals vs. harsh feedback was particularly frustrating. Later in the set sound improved some, but still lacked complete clarity and eq balance. Sound can be affected by a multitude of factors, of course. Faulty equipment, borrowed equipment, the space, house limitations, sound guy limitations. I can't say whether the problem was internal or external, especially after the opener's pristine sound, so I'm only deducting one star. Perhaps the effects-laden, shoegazey headliners were just too heavy for the venue. Still, I will be back when another great show skips Philly and lands in Arden. In the interest of improving atmosphere, I will avoid taking a seat.
