The actual repairperson who did the work was knowledgeable, prompt, and faultlessly polite. That is the best part of this story so far. I was charged for a service call fee, 2 hours of labor (of which only 40 minutes was performed, I have it recorded both by phone calls and security camera) and a 1,600% markup on parts ($117 for less than $8 worth of relays; I googled the part number). When I mentioned these billing issues to customer service via email, they quickly corrected the labor charge, but stuck to their guns on the part markup because it "wasn't fair that our tech had to drive so far to get to you". The business is located about twenty minutes away from our major city center; and when, to save time, I first offered to send pictures of my unit and control panel before anyone came out I was told that would not be necessary, so any assertion of 'unfairness' or wasted time/lost profits is poor planning on the company's part, not mine. I told customer service that I could be charged a fair rate on parts AND labor or I would leave a one star review, or if they wanted the bill paid as it currently was written it would be the last money I spent with this company, at which point they tried some guilt trip of "well, you agreed to the work" despite having no written or verbal authorization of charges, and said they'd get back to me, but with no specified timeframe for doing so. It's been over four days speaking with the CS representative now and no resolution. This is the worst part of this story so far. I will gladly edit this review down when the billing is both accurate and fair, but I am four days into a series of emails and calls and am becoming increasingly impatient.

Yesterday the system failed to cool. I called for service. The owner Ben Rise arrived onto the property didn't respond when I greeted him" He Immediately made reference to my other unit that they did not install. I mentioned to him that I called them first for a quote and went with the best offer. After that he determined that there was a leak. I simply asked him about why a new system would have a leak. He told me that would give me freon and I could call another company to fix it. He then told me I can call his attorney when I continued to ask why this issue was occurring with a new unit and new lines. He then stormed off my property yelling and screaming at me. He then got into his truck, reeved the engine and drove down the street putting lives in danger with his reckless behavior. Needless to say, his behavior is completely unacceptable,disrespectful and unprofessional. I have referred Rise Heat and Air numerous times over the years, but would never do so after this encounter. Gatlin's Heating and Cooling is also my go-to HVAC company any time one of my clients' heating or air conditioning go out. They show up on time, give a fair diagnosis, and repair or replace the unit at a fair price. I also use them for my personal needs. A month or so ago they prevented my clients from paying to replace a whole HVAC system due to a coil with a leak while another company (that my clients found on their own...) told them it would take a month to find the leak, and that they needed to have the whole system replaced.
