Having passed it by on numerous occasions without a second glance... hiding in plain sight strikes me as the perfect semantic descriptor for this rather intriguing eatery. Tucked away within the precincts of the Club at Shannondell, a public golf course, Chadwick's is a hidden gem that is certainly well worth discovering. Locally owned and operated, the restaurant not only offers patrons a casually comfortable environment in both the main dining room and the cozy bar area, but also a menu of classic American fare filled with a variety of provocative gastronomic eye-openers. Yes, the usual suspects are present and accounted for. However, the kitchen has a tendency to team them up with a number of unusual and curiously compelling accoutrements. Which, needless to say, makes for some rather interesting - and thoroughly enjoyable - dining. Consider, for example, the Sweet Jersey Corn Flatbread. Most diners have encountered flatbread in one form or another and realize that the ingredients may vary greatly, depending upon the individual restaurant and/or whims of the chef. Here, as the name indicates, one of the slightly unusual features is the inclusion of kernels of roasted sweet corn. Old familiars like tomato and mozzarella are cast in supporting roles, with crumbles of crisp bacon contributing additional flavor and texture. But the pièce de resistance is clearly the irresistible splash of chipotle crema, which succeeds in generating just enough heat to push up the "wow" factor by several significant notches. Chadwick's Chophouse Salad (pictured) is yet another interesting variation on a favorite theme... The mixed greens and grilled chicken are certainly straightforward enough. But then things take a surprising turn with the addition of items such as dried cranberries, candied pecans, hickory-smoked bacon, apple slices, goat cheese, and white chocolate. Unusual? For certain. But also deliciously addictive... with a sinfully seductive white-honey vinaigrette providing the perfect complementary finishing touch. My dining companion and I were fortunate enough to share the two above-mentioned items during a recent luncheon sojourn; and I freely confess that we were more than just a little impressed with the kitchen's adventurous innovations. However, should you decide to put in an evening appearance - with menu entries such as Bacon-Wrapped Meatloaf, Potato and Horseradish Crusted Salmon, Marry Me Chicken, and Slow Braised Mojo Pork - I'm certain that your taste buds will be equally inspired. The dessert menu, if you'll pardon the pun, is short and sweet. There are just four possibilities; but, in their own way, they are just as titillating as many of the items that have preceded them: Honey Jack Daniel's Bread Pudding, Chadwick's Peanut Butter Pie, Dubai Chocolate Torte, Brandied Cherry New York Cheesecake. As I have undoubtedly noted in previous reviews, any mention of peanut butter on a dessert menu is an immediate draw... and Chadwick's Peanut Butter Pie (pictured) is certainly no exception. That being said, however, incorporating proper peanut butter taste into cakes, pies, and pastries is definitely something of a "sticky wicket." In other words, problematic. So problematic, in fact, that in my years of reviewing various and sundry peanut butter-laced desserts, I have, for the most part, been consistently disappointed. Fortunately, that is not the case here. The taste of Chadwick's Peanut Butter Pie is subtle, yet exceptionally pleasurable. Ditto the texture... which succeeds in gently caressing the palate rather than overwhelming it. read more

Very solid lunch spot. The patio is beautiful, unfortunately it was too hot out so we opted for seating inside. Service was on the spot, no complaints. For an appetizer, we did the cheesesteak spring rolls. Not my favorite but good flavor and a large portion size. For an entree I did the Cobb salad. It was huge! My husband did the Carolina BBQ pork sandwich which was very flavorful and came with perfect fries. Great to know there's such a solid lunch spot in this area. Will definitely be back. read more

Normally I love the food here, but I came for all you can eat crab legs and they were not that great. It normally doesn't take much for me to peel crab legs but the meat was sticking to the inside of the shells. However, the burgers and chicken sandwich were good that my family ordered. And I've had the food here before and it was always good. But I would pass on the all you can eat crab legs. read more

We love your venue but do not care for Ziggy Isaacs music. He sings off key and it's the same old material every time. We visited other places where he was playing and we refuse to go when we know he is there. His Facebook page is full of derogatory remarks towards people and we cannot support that either. read more

Went with my family to Easter brunch. Food was very good except no bagels or toast offered with the breakfast items. Our server could have been more attentive. No one came around to refill coffee or remove plates. We saw our server maybe two or three times during a 2-hour time frame. At the end we had a few pastries that we wanted to take home and ask for a box and we were told no. However, the seven top next to us all received boxes and filled their boxes. When asked why they had boxes and we couldn't. Our server told us they were the managers family. Very unfair. Chadwicks is a great place for dinner.. Linda and Steve are always friendly. We went for brunch it was just very mediocre. Like typical hotel breakfast food. For $25 per person NOT worth it. Staff were very pleasant and atmosphere was good. BUT my dad also found a bug in his coffee. They took it off the bill no problem. But he called later to let them know. The manager said they've been having a roach and fly problem!!! We have gone to Chadwick's several times for their prime rib dinner. It is a generous portion and a great meal. This time was horrible, there were 8 of us and all 8 had a bad meal. Prime rib was thin and not very good. Very disappointed, we will not be going back. I don't understand how you can go from serving an excellent prime rib to this ? read more

3/19/22 Excellent lunch here today. Steve took good care of us and was polite and kind. They are very short staffed and we definitely understand. Very grateful for being served and the food quality. This restaurant -bar is open to the public, although it's part of beautiful ritzy (cha chingy) Shannondell. I honestly felt very underdressed in shorts and a short sleeved shirt. Most of the other clientele was dressed up. There was also a bridal shower going on. My husband ordered the French Onion Soup that comes with crispy flaky philo dough crust. He really enjoyed the soup and the amazing presentation. My brother tried the short rib meatball appetizer (it came with 2 huge pieces of buttery garlic bread) and the pepperoni roll. My son got the general tso cauliflower- it was fried and crispy and oh sooo good! I tried the boneless wings and they were great. I was really pleased with all of the appetizers I tried. Entrees were burgers, shrimp pesto flat bread- (OMG!!) chophouse wrap (with feta, cranberries, apples, chicken and other ingredients. I tried some of that and it was delicious. I was pleased with the meals and I would run- not walk- back to Chadwick's. The food quality was top notch. This is a beautiful restaurant in lovely Audubon near the picturesque gold course. I really enjoyed it. I've lived in this area for 50 plus years and hadn't tried Chadwick's. It's long past time. I recommend using open table - it's easy to use and we were seated immediately. A cozy restaurant to take family to! Chadwicks is part of a golf country club and it exceeds expectations. I've been here three times and I've enjoyed the experience every time. Staff is friendly, service is quick! The food is well seasoned and generously portioned. Can't go wrong with any food, I've loved the petite filet mignon, my husband has had the salmon and risotto. We go here all the time for weekday lunches. It's a hard choice between the burger bundle and their wonderful salads. Yesterday we went with friends and we all had the burger bundle and it was excellent. We've never had a bad meal here. Can't believe I never finished this review. This is my new favorite cheaper than anticipated spot. Wins all around. Idk about you guys, but there's something so entertaining about watching prim and proper middle-aged white men drive around in carts and hitting balls aka ambiance on the back porch is an easy 10/10. The majority of their points come from those $6 small apps. Go. Order the general tsos cauliflower. Get six. Share. Eat them all. Whatever. They were hearty and divine. A small plate though. Hence the six orders. Their Philly egg rolls were delightful as well! Their cooper style cheese was the perfect combo. Anyways. The jerk chicken was good, but not amazing. Which surprised me considering I was told the head chef is from Jamaica. Next time I'm going for my second option with those blackberry bbq pork chops. Tonight's experience was horrible! Not my first time here but will be my last. Starting with drinks: I noticed on my last visit they charged $3 additional for ice in an already $10 on-the-rocks drink. I told the waiter I didn't want to pay for ice that comes free in the water glass. He assured me that the ice would be free. At the same time I ordered Onion soup as an appetizer and the Filet medallions. Long story short, I never received the soup, another $3 charge for ice and the filet was nothing to write home about and not at the asked for temperature. The waiter was responsive but the Manager I'd say really didn't care about the customer. She apologized for the missing soup and tried to justify the ice charge as "the bartender has to put it in the drink". Imagine that! Over a ($100) hundred-dollar tab and they want $3 a drink for ice that I told the manager isn't listed anywhere as an additional charge. That's deceitful! This isn't my first bad experience here but this one pushed me over the edge. Check you receipt carefully as I just found another mischarge. read more

Start to finish, our experience (group of 7) were seated right away (with reservation) and the hostess staff were fully protected in masks and plexiglass Sheilds. We were seating outside on the patio and the tables were VERY spaced apart! What we snagged: -2 bottles of GREAT sauvignon blanc. Even brought an ice bucket. -Flat bread -Cheesesteak egg roles And a few other apps I can't recall, but everything was great! For our meals: -Crab cake sandwich. VERY good and highly recommend. -Poke Bowl -Fish tacos Overall, great experience during Covid. Can't thank them enough for their safety measures and perfect service. Chadwick's was recommend to me by my family. Let me say it did not disappoint! I liked that my husband and I were able to make a reservation on OpenTable. The restaurant is spacious & clean. Our server was Lisa. She was pleasant & did a great job serving. The restaurant serves delicious Hawaiian rolls with melted butter & sea salt on top. We had the short rib meatballs as an appetizer. Omg! They were 5 generously sized meatballs that were tender and melt in your mouth good. It also came with garlic bread. I highly recommend. We both ordered French Onion soup which we agreed that was the best French Onion soup we ever had. Instead of traditional round crouton, Chadwick's uses a puff pasty square instead. We prefer the puff pastry because it is flakey & buttery! The broth was the right amount of saltiness. I highly recommend getting this soup as well. For entrees, we had the shrimp scampi flatbread & the bacon wrapped meatloaf (which came with vegetables and mashed potatoes). The flavors were amazing & the meatloaf was melt in your mouth too. For dessert, we shared the peanut butter pie. It was a generous portion & yummy of course. The prices were very reasonable & the portions were big. This is a long time coming but I had to think about what I wanted to write. On October 16 2024 I went to dinner at Chadwick's with two other people. I have eaten at Chadwick's many many many times over the years and it has really gone downhill, but what happened that evening has me NEVER going back. I ordered the chicken pot pie. Third bite I thought I had an extremely hard piece of chicken in my mouth. I couldn't chew it. I pulled it out and to my surprise it was a rubber band! After informing management and receiving many apologies they whisked it away and brought me a replacement. ??? I took it home and threw it out. After giving it thought I know what I want to say. First let me say I have worked with high end chefs in a country club. The entire pot of that mixture should have been thrown out immediately! The chef should have come to my table to apologize. This was terrible. It was disturbing. What is going on in that kitchen? I don't consider this "chef" to be professional at all. Everybody wants the chicken parm. He takes it off the menu on a whim and for some reason Chadwicks puts up with him. Less and less people every time I went. He needs to be FIRED. Can't bring myself to go back. Sad. read more

This place has fantastic food! Their outside patio has live music at dinner. However we had to sit inside because we didn't have a reservation. My wife and I have been here twice for their Sunday brunch and we have enjoyed it on both occasions. The assortment isn't huge but I am OK with a smaller assortment if they replenish it enough - which they do here. Also, the size of the assortment needs to match the price tag and Chadwick's scores on that count too. The restaurant, as locals would know, is situated right next to a golf course so that gives it a bit more character than being located in say, a drab strip mall. I don't recall have being to this restaurant at a time of the year when it was warm enough to sit outside but if the restaurant made that possible, I would really enjoy being able to do that. Now on to the spread itself. The items that I regularly try out are some of the prepared cold salads (e.g. a potato salad), hot entrees (a tortellini we had at the last brunch was just great), bacon, and sausage. My wife often gets something from the omelet station. The item that I think we both like the most are their french toasts. Along with the maple syrup (which is placed right next to the French toasts), those toasts are one of the things that make this buffet great. There are also desserts like cheesecakes or brownies but very often we are full that we don't get to try those out. A minor quibble is that coffee is not included in the brunch price but nevertheless, I think at $15 it still offers good value. In terms of the service, I think this is an area where they could up their game. While we haven't had any unpleasant experiences during our visits (the guy at the omelet station is quite nice in fact), neither my wife nor I find the servers to be particularly hospitable or welcoming. There are other restaurants - and White Dog Cafe in Wayne readily comes to mind here - where the servers are simply more happy to have you around or are more attentive to your needs. E.g. at Chadwick's during last weekend's brunch when my wife wanted a glass of water with no ice, the server did bring one out but she didn't appear too pleased with the request. Again, I wouldn't say that service at the restaurant is unacceptable; it is just that they could do a better job and round off what is otherwise a good restaurant located in a nice setting and offering tasty fare. Closing note - the price for the buffet will be going up to $18 from $15 in early May 2018 and I think at that point, it goes from being a great value proposition to one that's just about OK. I think we like this place enough that we would still come but also we are interested in trying out some of their "specials" like $10 entrees on Tuesdays or Smokehouse night on Wednesdays. read more
